CATHAY PACIFIC/HSBC HONG KONG SEVENS 2019 OFFICIAL HOSPITALITY & TRAVEL PROGRAM 5-7 April 2019, Hong Kong Stadium v1.2
Introduction At Events Travel, we are proud to be celebrating 25 years of helping fans travel to the world s biggest events. In 2019, it will be our 25th Hong Kong Sevens and the 23rd as an Official Travel Agent; having helped create the Travel Program back in 1997. The Hong Kong Sevens is one of our favourite events and the largest Rugby Sevens event on the planet. The rugby is fast, the fans are passionate, the setting is unbelievable and it all culminates in one of the funnest weekends in sport. Hong Kong, Asia s World City, is vibrant and eclectic. It s a city where you can be exploring nature one minute, be in the world s finance and commerce epicentres the next minute and shortly after that, be looking down on the world from a rooftop bar. It s a world apart from anywhere else and one of the many reasons I ve been to the Hong Kong Sevens 23 times. We hope you will join Events Travel at the 2019 Hong Kong Sevens to celebrate our 25 year anniversary and see what the fuss is about. See you at the Sevens. Hong Kong Information About Hong Kong is a modern metropolis built on the framework of an ancient city. At the intersection of cultures, it s vibrant and bustling; a city where fortunes are made, lost and enjoyed. Visitors to Hong Kong will be surprised by the density of buildings from office building to apartment towers jammed between deep harbours and dark green mountains. On those mountains, hikers enjoy dense rainforest vegetation with amazing bird-life and stunning vistas across the cityscapes and sea-side towns. Hong Kong Island is surrounded by Victoria Harbour and the South China Sea; dotted with islands and ships. In the city, step through secret doorways to cool hang-outs, tasteful bars and trendy eateries. The cheapest Michilin Star restaurant in the world can be found in North Point specialising in Dim Sum, or visit the Mandarin Oriental, offering three Michelin Star restaurants. Night-owls will be in their element with many bars, nightclubs and rooftop terraces available across the city. For Sevens fans the top nightlife spots can be found in Wan Chai and Lan Kwai Fong where bars spill onto the street, amplified when Rugby Sevens fans come to town. Learn about Hong Kong s rich and colourful past at the Hong Kong Museum of History. Get lost in Kowloon s vibrant markets. Explore the Bird Market, Ladies Market, Flower Market or Goldfish market. Dine with the locals at the Lin Heung Tea House which first opened in 1926 offering a range of Chinese dishes. Soak up the atmosphere at one of the cities rooftop bars. Try Sevva in Central, across from the Symphony of Lights laser show with live jazz playing late into the night. Float away in a Chinese junk boat across Victoria Harbour with champagne at dusk or take the ferry to Macau to try your hand at your own fortune. To explore the city, take the Star Ferry across to Kowloon, where the shopping never stops and explore museums and markets that specialise in flowers, clothes and all things bizarre. Everywhere you turn in Hong Kong you will be surprised by what comes next. Top of the List See if from the top and take the Peak Tram to the top of Victoria Peak. Experience Water Buffalo on Cheung Sha beach, an escape from the busy city. See it like a local and hike out to the rockpools of Man Cheung Po, or go beachside at Stanley before a drink at the Smugglers Inn. Meet the Big Buddha, a 34 metre high statue near Po Lin Monastery, where monks devout their lives to Buddhism. PAGE 9 HK7s 2019
