Weekly Themes for Preschool and Summer Day Camp Camps being held: P Preschool Morning Camp SDC Summer Day Camp May 26-May 29: Ignite Your Summer (No program on May 25th)* Grab your sunglasses and water bottle and get ready for a fun week of crafts, science, summer games and an outdoor field trip. The fun will rise as the heat does! SDC June 1-5: Pay it Forward This week campers will be learning how to give back. Campers will get to know their community as they work on a community/ YMCA service project this week. P SDC June 8-12: Artful Antics This week is all about focusing on your creative side. Your child will be able to breakout and show their artful side by creating art projects or even showing off their acting talents. P SDC June 15-19: Wet n Wild Summer getting too hot? Come cool off with water games, water balloons, sprinklers and slides. At the end of the week we will participate in the World s Largest Swim Lesson. PREMIER CAMPS Your child will travel from the Y to places of interest related to the Premier Camps. Monday-Friday - 7:00 am-6:00 pm. All camps are for ages 5-8 and 9-12 years. Culinary Arts We will learn about food safety, the basics of cooking and healthy eating all while sampling great recipes. June 1-5 Young Artists During this week campers will visit a theatre, create their own pottery and learn new and different ways to express themselves through the world of the arts. June 8-12 Wacky Water We will launch water balloons, design a water obstacle course and slip down slides at some of the area s best water parks. Prepare to swim in both outdoor and indoor pools. June 15-19 Put Your Game Face On Have you ever dreamt of being on the show Minute to Win It or scoring on a last second play? Practice your favorite games and compete at the end of the week. You will experience a tunnel walk at Memorial Stadium. June 22-26 Hook, Line and Sinker Grab your hooks, bait and lines, we are going on an outdoor adventure to the wonderful world of fishing, camping and hiking. July 13-17 Time Travelers Step into the time machine and experience centuries of our past. You could end up in the Triassic period or jump to the future - anything can happen! June 23-27 Treasure Explorers Come out and learn the skills of treasure hunting. We will learn how to decode clues and go on our very own treasure hunt. TEEN CAMPS Teen Discovery (13 years and up) Teen Discovery introduces your teen to adventures and opportunities for growth. The Y s program invites your teen to try something new and make friends. Our summer is filled with experiences ranging from pre-college enrichment and community service projects to themes, sports, field trips, and art exploration. Counselors-in-Training (13-15 years) Teens will be trained in leadership skills and learn the fundamentals of working with campers under the guidance of counselors. CITs will spend a week in training learning the basic day camp counselor responsibilities: caring for campers, licensing standards for day camps, camp and field trip safety, along with planning songs, games, arts/crafts and themed activities. Non-refundable deposit: $20/session per teen Training Fee: $65 Includes T-shirt upon completion. YMCA CAMP PLATTE YMCA Camp Platte is held at Platte River State Park, and runs for 8 one-week sessions. This camp is for children ages 6-7, 8-12 and 12-15. Campers will participate in games, sports, crafts, nature activities, horseback riding, swimming and more! You may choose to attend day camp for one week or any combination of weeks. Monday-Friday - 7:00 am-5:30 pm Southwest and Armbrust offer post-camp care until 6:00 pm. One time non-refundable registration fee: $25/child - includes t-shirt. Shooting Sports Camp (12-15 years) This camp includes archery, riflery and slingshots. It starts with safety and basic techniques, then progresses to advanced techniques and shooting competitions. Campers will also participate in typical camp activities such as horseback riding, hiking, swimming, arts, crafts and games. Member: $215/wk Non member: $235/wk Nature Buddies (6-7 years) Children will learn about the world around them through games, art and activities focusing on friendships and Mother Nature. Your camper will explore nature along the camp trails and waterfront in the great outdoors. Nature Buddies do not experience all the same activities as older campers, such as horseback riding. Member: $195/wk Non member: $215/wk Wilderness Pals (8-12 years) Children will explore the unknown wilderness by hiking, learning about animals, and developing outdoor survival skills. Campers will challenge themselves by gaining an understanding of teamwork, build mutual trust and increase selfesteem. Pals will also participate in typical camp activities such as horseback riding, hiking, swimming, arts, crafts and games. Member: $195/wk Non member: $215/wk Riders (8-12 years) This camp is designed for children who have limited or no riding experience but a love of horses. Campers will ride horses four times each week and start learning the basics, such as horse care and horsemanship.
