This guy has been the Poor Farmer s mascot since day one. There is only one problem he doesn t have a name. When I look at this old poor farmer, I see a man that is strong, handsome, charming, athletic, and overly intelligent. I can only think of one name that is befitting of a man with these kind of qualities Mike! If you think you have a better name in mind, stop into the parts store for your entry form. You can color the poor farmer if you would like and put your choice for his new name on your entry. All entries must be in by in by September 15 th, 2018. The winning name will be announced at the Carl Springer Memorial Tractor & Engine Show / Flea Market, September 21 st @ 6PM at the Big Shelter. What s My Name?! Champaign County August 3 rd 10th (Urbana) Site of the Month The Monthly Chatter Site of the Month Darren & Nicole Schimmoller Miami County August 10 th 16 th (Troy) Memphis Report!! As you know from the last issue, Memphis isn t a little zero-year-old anymore now he s a full grown one-year old boy. When you turn one, there are certain things that you start doing. For instance, Memphis now smells items before putting them in his mouth. That s some wisdom that will hopefully follow him through his entire life. Shane and Amy have been trying to get Memphis to walk as of late. For his birthday he received a toddler sized walker. This will hopefully get him going on his own two feet a little quicker. Amy needs that kid walking so she can get him ready to run in the 5K for Autism Awareness. Shane is already training to beat him, but my money is on young Memphis. I mean, Shane did get beat by Steve a couple years ago. I am sure little Memphis will be walking in the next few weeks so a reminder to all THE SPEED LIMIT IS 5 MPH!!!!!!!!!! From one Schimmoller to another, Darren and Nicole Schimmoller have been awarded the SOTM for August. This is the first time in Poor Farmer s 50-year history, where two brothers have had back-to-back awards. From the fountain to the pristinely manicured border and platform, your site shines above the rest. Your choice of a centerpiece is the cherry on top. Thank you, Darren and Nicole! Your dedication to the beauty of your campsite, as well as our campground, is much appreciated.
The Buckeye Woodcarvers Present: Jeff Postma Master Chainsaw Carver The Monthly Chatter Page 4 of 6 The Buckeye Woodcarvers were host again to the Round-Up. This year Jeff Postma was invited to Poor Farmer s to show off some chainsaw carving skills. Jeff is nationally recognized, so it was only fitting that we commission him to create the two, fine works of art that now grace the campground entryway. Thanks to the Woodcarvers, Jeff and Tina Postma, and all who attended the event.
Page 5 of 6 The Monthly Chatter Grandparents weekend Grandparents weekend was a complete success! This year we started with a carnival in the shelter. Tony and Cherrie Dippolito creatively designed and built carnival games for the kids and Chrissy White was our resident face painter. The Fletcher Fire Department gave us a display of how the trucks work and shot the kids with some cool water. After that we had a balloon launch and ice cream. We finished the day with a drive-in movie and popcorn. Thanks to all who helped make this weekend a success... especially Brittney.
Campground Improvements Poor Farmer s RV Sales, Service & Campground Inc. 7211 N. Lostcreek-Shelby Rd. We also put some money into the parts store roof. Look at that improvement. Thank you for your patience while we make these repairs. We are continuing to make Poor Farmer s a better place to camp.
