Sani Pass Day Tour We meet at the Trout Walk Centre at 09h00, alternatively we can pick you up from your B&B or Hotel. The Tour departs at 09h30 and takes approx. 2.5 hours to reach the summit, travelling approximately 16km to the South African Border Post and then a further 8km up the Sani Pass to reach the Lesotho Border Post, climbing a grand 2874 metres above sea level! Our guides stop at breath taking view sites along the Sani Pass and the two border posts i.e. The South African Border Control and Lesotho Border Control. Once at the Top of the Sani Pass, we enjoy lunch at the highest Pub in Africa - The Sani Mountain Lodge. After lunch the Tour continues a further 7km into Lesotho to Skeering - a living Basotho village, where our experienced mountain guide will interest you on Lesotho and its people - the hardy mountainous Basotho folk. Traditional beer and homemade bread offered on request. We wind down the Sani Pass after this cultural experience and arrive back in Underberg between 16h00-16h30 depending on the wildlife spotted along the way. Sani Pass Mokhotlong Day Tour Minimum of 4 people Depart from Underberg at 08h00 (or collection on route, if applicable) in a four wheel drive vehicle travelling up the Sani Pass, stopping at breath-taking view sites and the two border posts. Once we reach the summit we stop for tea at Sani Top ( the highest pub in Africa), we then travel 20 km into Lesotho, up Black Mountain and over and down into the beautiful Sehonghong Valley for a further 40km comfortable meander into the remote trading town of Mokhotlong (once known as the most remote outpost under the British Empire). Here we enjoy lunch at a local Basotho venue. Get to see the rare Spiral Aloe (Lesotho s National plant), have a look at the old buildings and get to see how the Basotho folk do business at a local market. We then head back to Sani Top for afternoon tea and a toilet stop before we head back down the Sani Pass to arrive in Underberg around 17h30. The below rates excludes teas and lunch stops/meals. Should you wish to horse ride or go on a guided walk in the mountains in the afternoon or on the following morning, Sani Top Chalet will make all the necessary arrangements for you. We meet you at Sani Top Chalet at around 13h30, have lunch (own cost) and then head back down the famous Sani Pass to be back in Underberg around 16h30. Saga of the Sani Pass & Mokhotlong Tour (2 days/1 night) Minimum of 4 people Depart from Underberg (collection on route, if applicable) in a four wheel drive vehicle at 07h00 and travel via the Sani Pass with a stop for early tea at Sani Top Chalet. We then travel up Black Mountain Pass for a short walk to a vantage point from where we view Thabana Ntlenyana the highest peak in Southern Africa at 3482 meters above sea level. We then travel on to Mokhotlong via the stunningly beautiful Sehonghong Valley where we stop at 10 Riverside for an ethnic Basotho experience which includes a visit to the Ngaka ( traditional healer ) and the artefact house. We then travel to Mokhotlong for dinner and to overnight. After breakfast we drive through Mokhotlong (once billed as the most remote village in the British Empire) and stop for a short walk down the main road to view the rare Spiral Aloe. We then travel to St James Mission to see the fascinating ceiling of their church. We then drive back up the Sehonghong Valley, looking for the rare Bearded Vulture on route. Once we reach Sani Top, we go for lunch at Sani Top Chalet before descending the Sani Pass back to Underberg.This is a two day/1 night trip which travels 60km into Lesotho, departing Underberg at 09h30, overnights in Mokhotlong and includes: X2 lunches, dinner, bed,breakfast, X2 teas, road taxes, entrance fees and guided 4X4 travel and returns the following day at around 16h30. Passes and Culture Tour 4 day /3 night tour of Lesotho Minimum of 4 people Depart from Underberg travel up the Sani Pass to the Kingdom of Lesotho. A mid morning stop at Sani Top Chalet ( the highest pub in Africa ) for brunch and drinks. A further 18 kilometres and 450 meters up brings us to the top of Kotisepola Black Mountain to view Thabana Ntlenyana the highest peak in Southern Africa. Then on to number 10 Riverside for an introduction to Basotho Culture, visit an Ngaka traditional healer and the artefact house. The day ends at St James Mission for dinner and overnight. After breakfast we head west towards St Theresa s. We travel through the Linakaneng (Dinakaneng) Valley to the Sani River, relax and enjoy the amazing new views. Once we reach St Theresa s we will meet Father Gabriel who will give us a comparative look at Western versus traditional medicine, from a Roman Catholic point of view. A short drive to Mashai Guest Lodge for dinner & to overnight. Day 3 After breakfast we depart Mashai and travel Southwards experiencing our very own African Massage, we stop for lunch in the gardens next to the river, we see ancient rock art and get to view the rare Spiral Aloe. We then travel through to Sehlabathebe National Park where we have dinner and overnight. Day 4 Before and after breakfast we have time for a walk in the awesome park, viewing spectacular natural sandstone arches and unique plant life. We then head back to Underberg via Ramatislitso Gate border post and through the Eastern Cape, stopping for lunch along the way or in Underberg. Day 3 After breakfast we visit the Interpretive Centre and go on a tour of the Katse Dam wall. After the tour we travel via Thaba Tseka, Linakaneng and St James Mission to Sani Top Chalet (the highest pub in Africa) where we have dinner and overnight. Day 4 We have a sunrise breakfast on the deck of Sani Top Chalet (weather permitting) overlooking Kwa Zulu Natal, before we descend the Sani Pass back into Underberg. Best of Lesotho - 3 Days /2 Nights Depart Underberg at 08h00. Travel up the Sani Pass, stop for tea at Sani Mountain Lodge, visit a Living Basotho Village for a taste of the homemade bread and beer (optional),view Thabana Ntletyana, travel through the Sehonghong Valley into Mokhotlong, then we continue past the Letseng Diamond Mine, stop at Oxbow Lodge, we head to Butha Butha where we overnight (D,B&B). If there is enough time wevisit the caves with Bushman Paintings, if not we visit the following day. Visit the Dinosaur footprints and the craft market (if need be we will Visit the caves), we then head towards Katse Dam where we will overnight (D,B&B) stopping at the Bokong Nature Reserve, if we can be in Katse by 14h00 you will be able to do a tour of the dam wall, if not you will still get to see the dam wall from outside. Day 3 Depart Katse after an early breakfast and travel the awesome scenic routes through a remote part of Lesotho, getting to see how the folk live in the countryside. We then down the Sani Pass after having a drink at the Highest Pub in Africa, arriving in Underberg at around 17h00. Accommodation, Dinner, Breakfast and Lunches are included for the three days.
