Chapter 320 EAA International Watertown, Wisconsin Est. 1968 Vol. 50, No. 6 June, 2017 Announcements Chapter Notes: Be sure to join us at the next chapter meeting, Monday, June 5 beginning at 7 pm at Eric Wegner s hangar. There will be safety briefings and flyout planning, so don t miss out on the fun! The next Hamburger Social of the season is coming up on June 15. We don t need all hands for these, but some planning on who is bringing what side dishes will make these events better for all. This month we will emphasize brats, so think about items that go well with them. Fire Up The Grill, You Never Know Who Might Show The first Flying Hamburger Social was held at the airport on May 18, and only one plane flew in. But it was the passengers on that TBM that caused the excitement for the day. On board were AOPA President Mark Baker, and other members of AOPA staff. They stopped in on their way to Anoka, MN and enjoyed burgers with airport staff and Chapter 320 members. Turned out Mr. Baker was an excellent tipper, too!

Blue Angels Planning for First Full Oshkosh Appearance Special crowd lines in effect on July 28-29; morning TFR on July 28 May 24, 2017 - Plans are solidifying in advance of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels first full team performance at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, with full demonstration times now set for Friday and Saturday, July 28-29, along with other details regarding the team s visit to Oshkosh. The Blue Angels will fly their full practice show on Friday, July 28, from 4-5 p.m., in the midst of that day s afternoon air show. The Friday afternoon air show will continue following that performance, including some always-popular Heritage Flights featuring current and World War II-era aircraft. On Saturday, July 29, the Blues will fly the final act of the afternoon air show, beginning at 5 p.m. On each of those days, special crowd lines will be in effect at Wittman Regional Airport (see diagram). These crowd lines are generally similar to those in place for the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds at Oshkosh in 2014 and the Canadian Forces Snowbirds last year. Blue Angels team members will begin arriving in Oshkosh as early as Monday, July 24. As a unique addition to the Thursday, July 27, afternoon air show, several of the Blue Angels will make their site orientation flights over the airfield from 5-6 p.m. Two other Blue Angel team members will be making orientation flights over the field at 10-11 a.m. on Friday, July 28, which will cause a temporary flight restriction (TFR) over Wittman Regional Airport for that one-hour period. This TFR will halt all normal AirVenture operations, including takeoffs and landings at Wittman. Pilots planning to arrive at or depart from Oshkosh on Friday morning, July 28, should include that TFR in their preflight planning. In addition, the Blues will participate in an evening program at Theater in the Woods on Friday evening, July 28, at 7 p.m., just prior to the much-anticipated Apollo reunion program. Other Blue Angels public appearances during the week will be announced as they are finalized. Calendar of Events Let s go flying! Bosma 920-898-4160 414-436-1009 (cell) NHABC@yahoo.com Notes of EAA Chapter 320 Meeting 5/1/17 Members present: Tim, John, Raleigh, Larry, Dave, Jack, Becky, Eric, Bill, Trav, Wayne, Ken, and two guests - John Drews and Herb Schulze John Drews who used to be a member of our chapter brought a lot of pictures which included pictures of present and past members of the chapter. He was going to toss them out but Raleigh took them home and has them if anyone is interested in looking them over. John also had a photo album of some of the old and very interesting planes he used to fly, and where some of them are now. We watched the monthly EAA chapter video which was comprised of information on the 2017 50th anniversary of the Apollo flights. The rest of the video was on hints for home builders working on a fuselage. The first hamburger flyin is May 18th at Watertown Airport. Please come around 4:30pm to get the food ready. We are responsible for serving the breakfast at the Military show which is being held at the airport May 21 and 22, probably having to get there around 6:00am or so to start setting up. We will be working at the breakfast on Sunday May 22. Trav talked about his Legal Eagle XL plane. He is currently working on the ribs and brought one so we could see his handiwork. Respectfully submitted, Becky Shult, Secretary
