Aspect Autism in Education Conference Sponsorship & exhibition prospectus National Conference 30-31 August 2018 Shaping successful futures www.autismineducation.org.au

Message from the Conference Chair Welcome to the 2018 Aspect Autism in Education Conference to be held at Royal International Convention Centre, Brisbane. Since our last conference in 2016, there has been much discussion about the education of students on the spectrum amongst parents, educators, researchers, health professionals, politicians and the Australian media. Such a spotlight on the education of students on the autism spectrum has seen the development of a united voice and a shared common goal to provide the best support to every student and to value them as unique and individual learners, no matter where they may be on the autism spectrum, and no matter their educational setting. This conference aims to help achieve this goal and shape successful futures for all students on the spectrum, by looking at the latest research, evidence-informed practice and listening to voices of our young people on the spectrum. You will see this reflected across all four conference streams: capabilities, working together, innovation and approaches for learning, with a focus on utilising the strengths and interests of students to improve quality of life and post-school outcomes. The Aspect Autism in Education Conference will give your organisation the opportunity to network and engage with delegates and speakers attending from across Australia and overseas. A number of sponsorship and exhibition opportunities are outlined in this prospectus we have something for all sizes and levels of involvement. The trade exhibition is designed to ensure maximum exposure in a high traffic area at the Conference venue where delegates will gather for catering breaks. The Conference Committee appreciates your consideration of support and looks forward to welcoming you to the Aspect Autism in Education Conference 2018 in Brisbane. Dr Trevor Clark, Conference Chair National Director, Education Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) Message from the CEO With an estimated 107,000 Australian children between the ages of 5 and 19 years on the autism spectrum, educating students on the spectrum remains a critical issue for the education sector in 2018. Research shows that many students on the autism spectrum can struggle in the education system, facing problems such as school exclusion, bullying, depression and anxiety, and are often misunderstood by educators, peers and the wider community. By bridging the gap between research and practice, the Aspect Autism in Education Conference will highlight evidence-informed programs and practices that can be applied in classrooms, schoolyards and early education settings, so that every student can feel more supported. The conference theme: Shaping Successful Futures focuses on providing appropriate education provisions and ensuring equal access to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people on the autism spectrum across Australia. Adrian Ford, CEO Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) The Conference Organisers As the Conference Organiser for the Autism in Education Conference 2014 in Sydney and 2016 in Melbourne and with over 15 year s experience in managing conferences in the Association sector, the team at Think Business Events brings its wealth of expertise and knowledge to the role of professional conference organiser.
