Meeting of the Provincial Trail Steering Committee NBATVF Executive Members: President - Daniel Boucher Vice-President - Herman Berry Secretary - Marc Haché Treasurer - Paul Branscombe General Manager - Jacques Poirier On April 1st, 2010, Federation President Daniel Boucher and General Manager Jacques Poirier attended a meeting in Fredericton of the Provincial Trail Steering Committee. The purpose of the meeting was to report on progress with the Provincial Trail Strategy under development by the Trail Working Group Committee, on which our President and General Manager are members. Region 5 Meeting It has been decided to extend the deadline for the Master Plan. Federation representatives expressed disappointment in the Provincial Government's lackluster support of ATV trail development in New Brunswick. The Federation is facing unacceptable delays in the approval of land requests. The Federation will continue to push for support for the advancement of ATV trails development in the province. Some of the topics discussed were: Annual General Meeting Federation Elections Trail Passes Regional Trail Master Plan Viewing New Brunswick from the Inside Mapping Region Meetings (dates are now fixed for the year 3 per year) Informal meetings of clubs between Region meetings Trail Funding
Amalgamation of Grand Manan ATV Club with the Eastern Charlotte ATV Club Page 2 On Saturday April 10, 2010, Region 6 Directors David Hatt and Donald St. Pierre attended a meeting in Grand Manan with people interested in the Grand Manan ATV Club. Grand Manan ATV Club President Jody Graham resigned a few weeks ago. The Club has not been active for a while. It was decided at the meeting to temporarily amalgamate the Grand Manan ATV Club with the Eastern Charlotte ATV Club. Protected Natural Areas Provincial Committee Meeting On April 13, 2010, Federation President Daniel Boucher attended a meeting of the Protected Natural Areas Provincial Committee. Expansion of the network of protected natural areas in the province is being considered. Public consultations will be held and the ATV community will be involved. Meeting with the Department of Natural Resources On April 13, 2010, Federation President Daniel Boucher and General Manager Jacques Poirier met in Fredericton with representatives of the Department of Natural Resources. The purpose of the meeting was to continue the discussions on the joint-use of trails in some parts of the province. Represen- tatives from the New Brunswick Federation of Snowmobile Clubs were also in attendance. More discussions are required. Federation Executive Committee Meeting On Saturday April 17, 2010, Federation Executive Committee members met in Miramichi City. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss topics to be covered by the Board of Directors meeting held later in the afternoon and the Annual General Meeting held the next day. Federation Board of Directors Meeting On Saturday, April 17, 2010, Federation Board of Directors met in Miramichi City. In addition to regular Federation businesses, the Board discussed topics to be covered at the Annual General Meeting held the next day. Trail Working Group Meetings On April 20 and May 25, 2010, Federation President Daniel Boucher attended meetings in Fredericton of the Provincial Trail Working Group Committee. The meetings were part of a series to continue discussion on various components of the Provincial Trail Master Plan for the province. Meeting with Concept J On April 27, 2010, Federation President Daniel Boucher and General Manager Jacques Poirier met in Edmundston with representatives from Concept J. At its meeting of April 17, 2010, the Federation Board of Directors had decided to hire Concept J to develop and host a new website for the Federation. The purpose of April 27 meeting was to review Federation website needs and to appreciate what Concept J could do for us.
Page 3 Site Visits with DNR and NBTCI On April 26, 2010, Federation Trail Coordinator Ben Cyr met in Saint-Quentin and Kedgwick with representatives from the Department of Natural Resources and from the New Brunswick Trails Council Inc. The purpose of the meetings was to check sections for jointuse on the abandoned rail line. On April 27, 2010, the same participants met in Le Goulet for the same reason. New President for the Club VTT du Haut-Madawaska Bertrand Castonguay has been elected new President for the Club VTT du Haut- Madawaska. Congratulations Bertrand! Page 4 Federation Receives a Donation from AIL On May 6, 2010, Federation Communications Coordinator Jacques Nadeau accepted on behalf of the Federation a cheque for $2,500 from Darrell Dorey from the American Income Life Insurance (AIL). AIL's donation to the Federation is given in appreciation for the positive partnership between the two organizations. Federation Club members have a free $3,500 group Accidental Death and Dismemberment Benefit from AIL. The company also provides a Family Eye-care discount program which covers the member and his/her family and reduces the cost of eyewear. Meeting of the Central Greenwich Trailblazers ATV Club On May 4, 2010, Federation Director at Large Al Gallop, Region 6 Directors David Hatt and Donald St. Pierre attended a special meeting of the Central Greenwich Trailblazers ATV Club in Browns Flat Recreation Centre. The meeting was requested by the Club's President Paul Ritchie. Al Gallop acted as facilitator. Topics discussed included membership and passes fees and unresolved issues from the transfer of previous club's executive to the new one. Meeting with Visicom On April 27, 2010, Federation President Daniel Boucher and General Manager Jacques Poirier met in Edmundston with representative of Visicom. Visicom produces all our signs. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss signage needs for the Federation and its clubs. Visicom is also assisting the Federation Signage Manual Committee. ATV Safety Committee Meeting On May 5, 2010, Federation President Daniel Boucher and General Manager Jacques Poirier attended a meeting in Fredericton of the Provincial ATV Safety Committee. Some of the topics discussed were: Current and potential roles for municipal government in off-road safety programs and in the trails strategy. Implementation process and promotion of the recreational closed courses for young riders. Role of enforcement and education programs in the NB Trails Strategy. Federation Participates in the 2010 Symposium on Safety On May 6, 2010, Federation President Daniel Boucher and General Manager Jacques Poirier attended in Moncton the 2010 Symposium on Safety organized by Safety Services New Brunswick. Federation Participation in a Miramichi Trail Public Meeting On Saturday May 8, 2010, Federation President Daniel Boucher attended a public meeting in Miramichi organized by the Miramichi Trails Coalition about the Morrissey Bridge. The master plan for all trail activities in Miramichi was dis- cussed: walking, biking, skiing, ATVing, and Snowmobiling. The plan outlined how all groups working together can utilize the bridge crossing and incorporate its use with the master plan for all the trails in the area. Meeting with Service New Brunswick On May 7, 2010, Federation President Daniel Boucher and Trail Coordinator Ben Cyr attended a meeting in Fredericton with Service New Brunswick. The purpose of the meeting was to look at the GeoNB Map Viewer and examine possible applications for trail data and mapping. The GeoNB Map Viewer is a simple application for viewing maps and aerial photos of New Brunswick using any web browser. Federation Trail Committee Meeting On May 7, 2010, members of the Federation Trail Committee met in Fredericton to review the progress toward the regional ATV trail master plan.
