This gathering, now already turned into a systematic regional initiative, will cover topics of great interest for the preservation of these important and vulnerable landscapes. In a fluid and sincere exchange environment, provided by the Ciénaga de Zapata Swamp surroundings (the largest wetland area in the whole Caribbean insular region, now declared as Ramsar Site and Biosphere Reserve) will provide for the ideal setting so as to foster the exchange of knowledge among all participants, which will contribute to the improvement of the design and implementation of activities related to the handling and rehabilitation of theses landscapes, as well as for devising strategies aimed at the mitigation and adaptation to climate change. This year, the event will be honored with the participation of outstanding scientific personalities within the referred area, both from the Cuban and the international scene, who will contribute to the promotion of approaches, results and experiences, thus supporting the objectives of the symposium and covering the expectations of those attending. The inscription fee as well as the rest of the expenses incurred in Cuba will be paid in Cuban Convertible Currency (CUC).
