Detailed Itinerary Day 1 - Antananarivo Meet by our representative on your arrival at Ivato airport and transfer to the hotel. Night at hotel - BB Day 2 - Antananarivo - Antsirabe After breakfast, you will take the road to the South on the famous National 7 towards Antsirabe. Stops set off this route to appreciate the typical landscapes of the central highlands with their outside rice fields, their forest of eucalyptus, their brick-built high houses in thatched roofs Stop at the small village of Ambatolampy, situated at the foot of the massif of Ankaratra, and visit a craft factory of aluminum kitchen utensils. Check in on arrival in Antsirabe, and lunch (own account). Then visit the lake Tritrive and go round (30-40 minutes) of this magnificent lake in a volcanic crater, so cold that the water takes a magnificent turquoise green color. The legend says that two lovers whose families were rival and opposed to marriage, committed suicide to prove their love (Romeo & Juliet, Malagasy Version). The lake is sacred and people come to bathe to purify themselves and to make offerings to the ancestors on the sacred stone... Back to the town and time permitting you ll have a city tour to discover the splendid colonial houses vestiges, of which the hydropathic establishment on lakesides built at the beginning of the XIXth century. Some famous local handcrafts shops also deserve the visit if time permits. A "pousse-pousse" tour is possible for those who wish to experiment this kind of current and very usual transport in Antsirabe.
Day 3 - Antsirabe - Morondava Early departure from Antsirabe and a long road waits you until Morondava. From the high plateau you will pass by Betafo (literally great roof ) with more green rice fields and briks-built houses with beautiful tile-works roof in honor of the name of the town. Admire the various changes of landscapes during the journey when drier lands set up in the background. Stop at Miandrivazo for lunch at your expense, then continuation to the coastal city of Morondava which you reach towards end afternoon. Check in at the hotel. Day 4 - Morondava - Bekopaka Tsingy of Bemaraha Early breakfast and drive to the Tsingy of Bemaraha Reserve; passing by the Baobab Alley, you will take the track to Tsimafana for about 3 hours; from there you cross the Tsiribihina River by ferry boat (30 min) and join Belo where you make an halt for lunch at "Mad Zebus" restaurant (own account). Continuation on the sandtrack which leads you to Bekopaka (+/-4 hrs ). Transfer by pirogue (traditional boat) crossing the Manambolo River, and check in at your hotel. Before dinner, meet with your local guide who will inform you about the visits on the next day.
Day 5 - Bekopaka Tsingy of Bemaraha Full day activities in the reserve of Bemaraha; you start the visit with the small Tsingy (3 hours) then return to the hotel for lunch (own account). After a short rest, you visit the Gorge of Manambolo, a river which is considered as the front door of the Tsingy. The journey in dugout offers a wonderful pallet of landscapes, gorges, canyon, caves Day 6 - Bekopaka Tsingy of Bemaraha Full day visit and trekking through «moon like» sceneries unique to Madagascar, a vast forest of sharp eroded karts pinnacles of 60 meters high. On these fragment of rocks we often see lemurs propithèques. The reserve is fascinating with karstic peaks and the vegetation in the canyons is exceptional, a wonder of nature. Visitors can explore the Tsingy safely through boardwalks, cable ropes, steps, steel ladders or hanging bridges. Departure from the hotel, you reach the site after about 1 hour by 4x4 ; depending on your fitness the visit can last till 5 hours consisting of trekkings and impressive trails. Not for claustrophobia and people having vertigo; otherwise without to be a walker you can do it. Plan a picnic from the hotel (own account).
Day 7 - Bekopaka Bemaraha - Morondava After breakfast you leave Bekopaka for the road back to Morondava. Lunch in Belo at 'Mad Zebu' (own account), cross the river by ferry-boat and back again on the track to Morondava. On the way you can obviously discover some Sakalava tribe tombs because of their size and their unusual paints decorations. Later you make a halt to see the impressive baobab in love and the famous Baobabs Alley, the most photographed site in Madagascar; these majestic baobabs (Grandidier) offers a natural special landscape at sunset. Drop off in Morondava, check in at your hotel. Night at Hotel - DBB Day 8 - Morondava - Antananarivo Breakfast and transfer to the airport as per your scheduled flight to Antananarivo; upon arrival transfer to the hotel. Night at hotel - BB Day 9 - Antananarivo Today you may have a city tour and visit the handcraft market depending on your flight out time ; lunch at a local restaurant (own account). Transfer to the airport for your international flight home.
