Massey Show Lamb and Goat Camp Information Page: What to expect: 2 days of intensity. Main focus of camp will be on Showmanship. All other aspects of showing will be covered as well. Students will fit one animal, spend hours on showmanship, and attend break-out sessions covering countless topics related to the show ring. What to Bring: - 2 Lambs or Goats (We recommend one that the campers can use for shearing/clipping and both will be used for showmanship). On lambs at least 2 weeks of wool and no more than one month growth. - Clippers with surgical or fine blades for lambs and Covercote blades for goats. Massey camps do sell Lister Clippers and Lister Blades. Please contact Pete Dempsey at least 3 weeks prior to camp to guarantee Availability (580-678-3092). Small clippers (Andis) may be used for fitting legs. - Blocking Stand - Blow Drier - Water Hose with Nozel - Wood Chips for Bedding - Extension Cords and Fans - Campers need to be in comfortable clothes with shoes/boots - Soap - Bottled water, Gatorade, snacks etc. - Any other supplies that you would normally bring to a show. Camp Schedule Night Before Camp Starts:Most barns will open at 6:00 p.m. for early arrivals. Please call ahead to see if that is an option and what time the barn or gates will be locked for the night. Day 1: 7:30am -8:00am : Check in and complete registration (All Campers even if fully paid will check in). 8:00am-Noon: Camp Noon till 1:00p.m.: Break For Lunch (not provided) Campers may bring lunch or leave with parents to getlunch. 1:00p.m. 5:00 p.m.: Camp / Adjourns at 5:00 p.m.
Camp Schedule Day 2 Day 2: 7:00-8:00am : Feed Animals 8:00am-Noon : Camp Noon 1:00pm. : Lunch 1:00p.m. 5:00pm. : Camp (Camp will conclude at 5) Schedule is subject to slight change, however campers and animals need to be prepared to begin at 8:00 am each day. Camp staff will remain past 5 each day to help with individual needs as well. Please make sure all animals are healthy and free of any fungus and that you follow all regulations concerning health papers and livestock traveling across state lines.
