FEES AND REFUND POLICY Fee Schedule: All fees should be paid based on the following information: If registered before: (12-31-14) $8.00 per Youth Adult $3.00 Patch Only If registered after: (1-1-15) $10.00 per Youth Adult $3.00 Patch Only EXTRA PATCHES CAN BE ORDERED AT $3.00 EACH Refunds: This is the official refund policy of the council: Refunds will be reviewed on a case by case base. No refund is guaranteed. All requests must be made in writing at least a week prior to the beginning of an event to be reviewed. If you have questions regarding this policy please call one of the contacts at the end of the packet. Direct transfers to other events are not possible. CAMP POLICIES All camp policies are expected to be followed as outlined in BSA National Guide to Safe Scouting. Leaders are expected to oversee their scouts and their troop's site, and maintain as good or better condition at departure. Scouts will be expected to use the "buddy system" while on camp property. (Payment can be made at check-in.) *Reserve campsite or buildings for your stay. (Contact Bob Long ) *Plan to attend and recruit leaders to help out judging of events. *Fill out all forms required in packet. *Prepare patrols for sled items list. *Inform your scouts on personal gear to bring, weather according. *Bring your best Dutch oven recipe for Leader's Cooking Contest. (1 entry per troop) *Watch the scouts compete for prizes and awards.

2015 IRON SCOUT Procedures and Rules 1. All troops must check-in at arrival. Rosters of all scouts and leaders attending. 2. Roster showing scout's names and patrol name per sled. (Need at inspection) 3. Buildings are available, but must be reserved. Contact Bob Long to reserve building or site. 4. All scout grounds are to be left as good as or better than we found it. 5. Try to limit patrol size to 4-6 scouts per patrol. Odd numbered patrols can pair with others and make a patrol to compete. 6. Patrols should be made of equal skill levels. 7. It is not permissible to coach or discuss event procedures with competing scouts. Remember scouts and scouters, "A scout is trustworthy" 8. Mayors at each event will be made up from leaders at camp from different troops. 9. Scouts experiencing any problems should contact someone in staff. 10. Scouts should not have any electronic devices such as phones, mp3, etc. during events. 11. Only staff and event mayors should have 2 way radio use during event. 12. Detailed event information will be given to the mayors before the start of the event. 13. Staff and event mayors will be paying attention to the scouts competing. Factors that will also affect overall score are; positive attitude, leadership in patrol, safety, and teamwork. Above all, remember to have fun. This is one weekend we can't give back to you, so have a good time.
2015 IRON SCOUT The Sled and What to Carry On It Sleds must have skis and no wheels. Should have a pull rope and be pulled by patrol throughout the event. 1 bottle of water per scout. (Stay hydrated) 1 Boy Scout Handbook per sled. 1 large trash bag 1 tarp (approximately 6' x 8' or larger) 1 set of 10 essentials per sled 1 compass per sled (2 recommended) 1 first aid kit per sled (to treat minor injuries) 1 mess kit per sled 1 stave per each scout in the patrol 1 rope 1/4" diameter or larger x at least 8' long per each scout in patrol 1 set of fire building supplies per sled. You may include matches, lighters, batteries and steel wool, etc. along with your starter material and kindling. NO ACCELERANTS ALLOWED, NO FIRE STARTING STICKS OF ANY KIND. EVENT MAYOR HAS THE FINAL WORD. All scouts need appropriate clothing for the season. Rain, snow, or cold. Leaders are responsible for their scout s proper attire while at this event. Remember: Be Prepared! The sled inspection counts on the overall score.
