How does a home stay program work? Students are placed 2 per family, unless otherwise requested. Malaca Instituto has a full time member of staff dedicated to looking for the host families. If an irresolvable problem should arise, students will be moved to another family. Some of the host families live in individual houses with gardens, others in town houses or flats. Most are within walking distance of the school. You will receive a detailed description of each family with names, addresses and telephone numbers 2-4 weeks prior to your departure. Why choose Malaga to study Spanish? The city is blessed with a subtropical climate and serves as an ideal base to explore other cities of Andalucía. Malaga is a very safe city and the Malagueños are well known for their great sense of hospitality. In addition, you can feel reassured that as Forum has a local office in Malaga, we are always available to assist with any requirements the group may have and will maintain close contact throughout the entire stay. Why study at Instituto Malaca? The Instituto Malaca is one of the leading language institutes in Spain. All teaching materials and text books used there are written and edited by the language instructors at Instituto Malaca. The teaching method is an effective combination of many aspects of the Communicative Approach with structured learning of the areas of Spanish grammar that are deemed to be essential. Classes are taken by a variety of teachers, providing the students with a range of accents and styles. Students receive a certificate upon completing the course. Group leaders can be in touch with Malaca Instituto prior to departure should they wish to discuss course content. The school is located in a scenic area of Malaga (Pedregalejo), a mere 100 meters from the beach and housed in the former Italian consulate, surrounded by beautiful gardens. Educational Benefits Not only do students have a great time while learning the language, but they also realize the value of a second language. They speak it and see the results. Upon return to the US, students are notably more motivated, serious and have a more mature outlook on studying in general. This facilitates the work of teachers and provides students with a solid grounding for their future studies and careers.
