WEDNESDAY DAY 5 Day: Day trip to Bowen swimming and sightseeing and Aussie lunch. Afternoon Shopping in Airlie Beach, shopping / swimming. 25 th July Night: Daily Country Presentations & Christmas in July with a visit from Santa. THURSDAY DAY 6 Day: Ocean Rafting with Great Barrier Reef trip including snorkelling. 26 th July Night: Fun Activities & Daily Country Presentations. Camp Information Camp Rules: Camp and home-stay rules apply in accordance with Lions Youth Exchange Policy and International Youth Camp Policy. Internet is not available at Camp Koala. Camp Koala is a drug and alcohol-free event. Anyone caught breaking this rule will immediately be excluded from camp activities. Language and Health: English is the official language of the Camp. Participants should have moderate or good language skills Participants should be fit and healthy and able to participate in physical activities Location: Bellarine Peninsula, Victoria 90 minutes south-west of Melbourne s historic town of Queenscliff Short walk from the town centre of Queenscliff Climate: Camp Koala is held during the Australian winter time Temperatures vary from 5 to 15 C Warm clothes are essential! Camp Facilities: Two campers will occupy each spacious dormitory. Ensuite bathrooms are shared by two dormitories four campers. Convection heater with control in each room. Application and Registration Procedures Only youth from countries participating in the Australian Lions Youth Exchange Program are eligible to apply for Camp Koala. Overseas youth can apply for the Lions Youth Exchange Program through their local Lions Club and Lions District Youth Exchange Chairperson. Australian applicants should contact their local Lions Club. If you don t know how to contact your local Lions Club, please contact Camp Koala for assistance. Kangaroos at Morisset Presentations, Australian Campfire WEDNESDAY DAY 5 Day: Tour Newcastle, Sailing on Lake Macquarie Presentations THURSDAY DAY 6 Day: Day trip to Sydney (Opera House and Harbour) Late back to Camp and Supper FRIDAY DAY 7 Day: Shopping Trip to our largest shopping Centre High Ropes or similar Presentations Dance Party SATURDAY DAY 8 Day: In Camp Day camp activities Farewell Dinner and Activities SUNDAY DAY 9 Day: Campers leave for Sydney Airport Each camper will take part in a presentation on their home country -power point presentations are often used as well as a display of their national flag, a description of the home life of the campers, their favourite hobbies, their national dress, customs and their country dish. The campers may choose to entertain the other campers instead with their musical talent if they so wish. Each presentation is limited to 10 minutes per country. CAMP KOOKABURRA INFORMATION CAMP RULES Camp rules apply in accordance with Lions Youth Exchange and International Youth Camp policies. Internet reception is not available at Camp Kookaburra. Camp Kookaburra is a drug, cigarette/cigar and alcohol free camp. LANGUAGE AND HEALTH English is the official language of the Camp. Youth should have moderate or good language skills. Physical activities will be on the programme. CAMP LOCATION The Outdoor Education Centre is set in bushland with a variety of activities available at the campsite. CLIMATE Camp Kookaburra is held during winter in Australia. Temperatures vary from 5-25 degrees Celsius. Nights are cooler so some warm clothing is appropriate, days are generally cool to warm. WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING Some warm clothing. Toiletries. Closed in, sensible shoes and comfortable footwear. Hat and sunscreen. Swimmers (bathers, togs) and Beach towel. We will provide bedding, bath towels and pillows. APPLICATION AND REGISTRATION PROCEDURES Overseas campers can apply for Camp Kookaburra through their local Lions Club and Lions District Youth Exchange Chairperson. Campers from non-youth Exchange countries must contact their local Lions Club or Youth Exchange Chairperson to get their support and fill in their Youth Exchange forms and send the completed form direct to the Camp Registrar. Australian applicants should contact their local Lions Club. Camp Kookaburra accepts youth aged between 16 and 21 years as at 1 July 2018. Once applicant has been accepted into the programme a camp registration form will be emailed (please ensure a current email address is on your international application) by Camp Kookaburra. Forms should be typewritten or handwritten clearly. A valid registration form must have all of the required information and signatures before it can be accepted. A clear head photo must also accompany the application. The camp Fee must accompany the registration form or registration will not be accepted.
