1. Booking a trike or spyder To book a vehicle type of trike or spyder select Motorbike when booking and then select Motorbike with side car ($81). If you are towing a trailer (behind a trike or spyder) please select Motorbike when booking and then select Motorbike with trailer ($81). Please note that the total length of the trike/spyder towing a trailer must be less than 7 metres. 2. Gas bottles and butane cylinders What happens with gas bottles? Gas bottles are permitted on board provided they are turned off and fixed to your vehicle (fixed via a bracket or compartment). All loose gas bottles not fixed to your vehicle or items such as butane cylinder canisters or gas bottles used for camping stoves must be declared at check-in, where they will be placed on a trolley for the voyage. You will be issued with a receipt, which must be handed in on arrival when collecting the gas bottle. Gas bottles do not have to be emptied, but must be turned OFF at all times. 3. Jerry Cans and Fuel Can I travel with my jerry can or fuel? Jerry cans and generators must be empty and are not allowed to have any fuel in them. They are only permitted to travel if they are empty, the lid is off, and they have been air dried. If jerry cans are found to have fuel, passengers will be asked to dispose of the excess fuel in the hazard chemical cage. Generators which are fixed to a vehicle are permitted to travel with fuel. 4. Alcohol 5. Food Items and Quarantine Can I take alcohol on board? Passengers are permitted to carry alcohol on board Spirit of Tasmania, however the consumption of any such alcohol on board the vessel is strictly prohibited. Please refer to clause 30 (b) (ii) of the Terms and Conditions of Carriage which states: Medicines, boxed matches, toiletries and alcoholic beverages may also be carried on to the vessel by passengers. No passenger, however, shall be permitted to consume any such alcohol on board the vessel. During check-in, security personnel will enquire with passengers whether they are travelling with any alcoholic beverages and if so reconfirm the condition of carriage associated to this item. What can I bring into Tasmania? The following items are permitted*: Dried nuts Processed foods including dried, cooked and canned fruit, vegetables, and honey Freeze dried camping foods Meat for human/personal consumption including salami, hams, and meat sticks Canned fish Tanned skins and hides (all) including antlers and horns Cheese Noodles, pasta, rice, bread, cereals, and sauces Tea, coffee, and biscuits Poultry and poultry hatching eggs Cats, horses, and guinea pigs Baby food *Details correct at time of printing. 6. Fishing equipment Can I travel with fishing equipment? If you are carrying any fishing or aquatic equipment, such as fishing rods, fishing tackle, boats, kayaks, etc. they must be declared at each port to Quarantine Tasmania. Motorcycle tie downs Do I need to provide tie-downs for my motorbike? No. Spirit of Tasmania provides tie downs for motorbikes. Experienced crew will also secure the bikes. 8. How to book for Ulysses AGM 2016 How can I book travel with Spirit of Tasmania to attend the 2016 AGM? Spirit of Tasmania is offering discounted fares for travel to and from the Ulysses 2016 AGM. A dedicated booking page has been provided for those choosing to travel with Spirit of Tasmania. To access the booking page please visit: spiritoftasmania.com.au/ulysses If you do not have access to the Internet you can book with our Groups and Special Event Team by calling 1800 635 877. You will need to identify yourself as travelling to the Ulysses event in order to receive a discounted fare. A $5 fee per person each way applies to bookings made via the Groups and Special Event Team.
