Welcome to the June - July edition of Holden Torque Newsletter. Well winter has arrived and the wild weather that hit Perth on the 17 th of May saw the cancellation of the National Motoring Heritage Day run to Yanchep. You may remember this event was to be held in conjunction with Buick Club. Whilst we never like to cancel an event, I think our decision to do so on this occasion was a very wise one. An email was sent out to all our members notifying them of the cancellation, and Len Douglas went to Taylor Reserve and Craig Johns went to Yanchep, at the scheduled meeting time just in case anyone turned up. One event that did go ahead and was very well attended was the Classic Car Show at Whiteman Park. We had 28 vehicles attend and together with our Service Station backdrop and some great props provided by Jim Fitzgerald and Len Douglas, we again had the best display in the park by far. Lack of sponsorship this year meant that there was no prize for best display, but we all know who would have one if there was. Thanks to all the members who helped out with setting up and dismantling the display, and to those who helped with catering and cooking. The annual Breakfast and Cruise this year again held at the Left Bank in East Fremantle. Approximately 40 members enjoyed the breakfast followed by the cruise around the Western suburbs which ended up at the Dome café at Port Coogee. Thanks to Craig Poole and Tim Tapping for organising the event. We will be holding or Annual General Meeting on the 11 th of July. As always this will follow our General meeting which starts at the usual time of 2.30pm. This is a very important day for our club, so I urge as many members as possible to attend and think about nominating for committee positions which will all be declared vacant at the AGM. Many other events coming up, so please read the events calendar and make an effort to come along, we would like to see you there. As always if you wish to discuss any issue relating to our club, please feel free to contact me on 0419 476 954.
