Four Seasons Cairo at Nile Plaza (Nile View Room) Day 2: Design Your Day Cairo This morning, walk through 7,000 years of history at the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, including the treasures of Tutankhamun and the Mummy Room. Cairo has so much more to offer: ancient monuments, glittering mosques, imposing citadels, a labyrinthine bazaar and old Coptic churches. Design your own afternoon with a choice of one of the following included activities: a walking tour of Islamic Cairo and an adventure in the Khan El Khalili bazaar; or a visit to old Cairo including the Coptic Museum (B,L). Four Seasons Cairo at Nile Plaza (Nile View Room) Day 3: Cairo Today visit the necropolis of Saqqara and the impressive museum of Imhotep. Continue on to the 4,500-year old Pyramids of Giza, built for Pharaohs Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus. The Great Pyramid is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still in existence. Just to the east lies the legendary Sphinx. Continue to the Solar Boat Museum to view the re-assembled funerary boat of King Cheops, one of the most important archaeological finds in Egypt since the Tomb of Tutankhamun (B,L). Four Seasons at Nile Plaza (Nile View Room) Day 4: Cairo - Luxor Set off on your business class flight south to Luxor and start the day exploring the Temple of Karnak built, over more than a thousand years, by generations of pharaohs. Later transfer to the stately Sanctuary Sun Boat IV, your luxury home afloat for the next four nights. Following lunch, visit the West Bank of Luxor to explore the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens where you will also have the chance to descend into Tutankhamun s tomb. Marvel at the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, raised out of the desert plain in a series of terraces. On your way back to the Nile, pass by the famed Colossi of Memnon, two imposing 17m high stone statues. In the evening, be greeted by your Boat Manager and enjoy a complimentary cocktail and canapés at a welcome reception followed by dinner (B,L,D). Sanctuary Sun Boat IV (Bridge Deck cabin) Day 5: Nile Cruise 3
Day 5: Nile Cruise Cruise north to Denderah* and enjoy the rarely visited temple complex dedicated to the goddess Hathor complete with massive stone roof, dark chambers, underground passages and towering columns inscribed with hieroglyphs. Return to the ship and continue sailing back to Luxor with afternoon tea en route. In Luxor, join your Egyptologist on a tour of the East Bank, to the Temple of Luxor dedicated to the God Amun. Following dinner on board enjoy a performance by a belly dancer and a whirling dervish show (B,L,D). Sanctuary Sun Boat IV (Bridge Deck cabin) Day 6: Nile Cruise Relax on board as you cruise to Edfu with a morning visit to explore the extraordinary Temple of Horus, one of the best preserved monuments in Egypt. The temple stands at a bend in the Nile where, in ancient times, sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the riverbank. Tonight s dinner on board will be an Egyptian Night featuring a lavish buffet of Egyptian specialities, followed by oriental music and dancing (B,L,D). Sanctuary Sun Boat IV (Bridge Deck cabin) Day 7: Nile Cruise Cruising into Aswan, you embark on a short motorboat ride to visit the majestic Philae Temple on the Island of Agilika. Next proceed to the Granite Quarries, which supplied the ancient Egyptians with most of the hard stone used in pyramids and temples, and still hold a huge unfinished obelisk. Following lunch on board, take a ride on a felucca, a typical Egyptian sail boat, around Elephantine Island, Lord Kitchener s Botanical Gardens, and the Agha Khan Mausoleum. Enjoy afternoon tea in the lounge before tonight s farewell dinner serving gourmet cuisine (B,L,D). Sanctuary Sun Boat IV (Bridge Deck cabin) Day 8: Aswan Abu Simbel Cairo Before returning to Cairo, a short business class flight takes you to one of Egypt s most aweinspiring sights the colossal temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari at Abu Simbel. These massive temples were moved stone by stone in 1964 to higher ground to escape the rising waters of Lake Nasser. In Cairo you are met and transferred to the hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure (B,L).
