Prospects and Market Outlook

Market Prospects : Singapore Government will continue to invest in infrastructure works : Government ramping up construction spending (1) Value of construction contracts to be awarded this year will be between S$21 27 billion, and between S$18 25 billion for 2011 and 2012 Public sector works will include large public infrastructure projects such as the MRT Downtown Line Phase 2 and various road works Construction industry can look forward to more tendering opportunities in building projects, including major industrial projects such as the LNG Terminal, Fusionopolis 2A and Seletar Aerospace Park Construction is fastest growing sector 2 years in a row (2) : Construction grew from 3.7% of GDP in 2005 to 5.1% in 2008 Sustained level of construction demand expected over the next two to three years Sector employed 385,200 workers (12.8% of Singapore workforce) (1) Straits Times, Jan 13, 2010.
