Where Does Access Hamilton Fit?

Strategic Approach Hamilton has been implementing best practice in integrated transport planning since 1996: Hamilton Integrated Transport Strategy (1996) Hamilton Alternatives to Roading Study (2004) Access Hamilton (2005) Access Hamilton 2010 is a review of the existing strategic direction taking into account national, regional and local changes since 2005 and looks ahead to 2040. Access Hamilton will only be fully delivered by working in partnership with key stakeholders such as New Zealand Transport Agency, Environment Waikato, iwi, neighbouring District Councils, city centre businesses and so on.

Where to from here? The reviewed Access Hamilton was adopted by council in March 2010. Full alignment now exists across all eight city strategies. All currently funded projects will continue. Work to investigate projects for the 2012-15 Long Term Plan has begun. Access Hamilton is providing a benchmark as national best practise.
