A COUNTRY FOR ALL TASTES Turkey has so much to offer her visitors; breathtaking natural beauties, unique historical and archaeological sites, steadily improving hotel and touristic infrastructure and a tradition of hospitality and competitive prices. Therefore, it is not surprising that this country has recently become one of the world's most popular tourism destinations. Due to Turkey's diverse geography, one can experience four different climates in any one day. The rectangular shaped country is surrounded on three sides by three different seas. Its shores are laced with beaches, bays, coves, ports, islands and peninsulas. The summers are long, lasting as long as eight months in some areas. Turkey is also blessed with majestic mountains and valleys, lakes, rivers, waterfalls and grottoes perfect for winter and summer tourism and sports of all kinds. Mugla Konya/Mevlana Canakkale/Truva For centuries, Turkey has also been a crossroads of religions, not only of Islam and Christianity, but also of many others now forgotten by history. Many religious devotees can find a site, a shrine, a monument, a tomb or a ruin connected with their faith or belief. It is not possible in this page to represent all the touristic attractions of Turkey. Therefore, we suggest you to spare more time browsing our portal further. If you are not quite familiar with what Turkey offers her visitors you may start with the menu contents on the left or if you are looking for more specific subjects you may use the top menu items: Ordu Antalya FAQ http://www.goturkey.com/turkiye.php?lng=en&content=faq Nature&Geography http://www.goturkey.com/turkiye.php?lng=en&content=ceography History & Civilization http://www.goturkey.com/turkiye.php?lng=en&content=history Culture&Art http://www.goturkey.com/turkiye.php?lng=en&content=culture Turkish Lifesyle http://www.goturkey.com/turkiye.php?lng=en&content=lifestyle Unesco World Herritage List http://www.goturkey.com/dunya_mirasi_en.php?lng=en Statistics http://www.goturkey.com/turkiye.php?lng=en&content=ist 1
A CITY FOR ALL TASTES : ISTANBUL "If the world was a single state, Istanbul would be the capital." Napoleon The god and human, nature and art are together in there, they have created such a perfect place that it is valuable to see." Lamartine s famous poetic line reveals his love for İstanbul, describing the embracing of two continents, with one arm reaching out to Asia and the other to Europe. İstanbul, once known as the capital of capital cities, has many Istanbul unique features. It is the only city in the world to straddle two continents, and the only one to have been a capital during two consecutive empires - Christian and Islamic. Once was capital of the Ottoman Empire, İstanbul still remains the commercial, historical and cultural pulse of Turkey, and its beauty lies in its ability to embrace its contradictions. Ancient and modern, religious and secular, Asia and Europe, mystical and earthly all co-exist here. Its variety is one of İstanbul s greatest attractions: The ancient mosques, palaces, museums and bazaars reflect its diverse history. The thriving shopping area of Taksim buzzes with life and entertainment. And the serene beauty of the İstanbul strait, Princes Islands and parks bring a touch of peace to the otherwise chaotic metropolis.
