AUSTRALASIAN AIRPORTS REAL ESTATE CONFERENCE 2 3 August 2012 Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia

Gungahlin Belconnen Woden Valley CANBERRA CANBERRA AIRPORT Tuggeranong ABOUT THE AAREC 2012 CONFERENCE In early 2004, we recognised the need for the Airport Property Managers to get together to swap ideas and learn from each other. The first Australasian Airports Real Estate Conference was held in Brisbane in late 2004. At the conclusion of that conference it was decided to hold a conference each year at a different Australasian airport, with a key component of the conference being a tour of the hosting Airport. This gave all delegates the opportunity to see and learn first hand how different airports are responding to their airside demands, spatial constraints and regional growth and opportunities. Airports that have hosted the conference are: 2004 Brisbane 2005 Canberra 2006 Adelaide 2009 Brisbane 2010 Darwin 2011 Melbourne This year, the conference returns to our political and arts capital, Canberra. Canberra is a particularly exciting location for our conference this year given the exciting new upgrades and Masterplanning which has occurred at the airport over the recent months. We have incorporated a number of activities on airport this year including a Masterplanning presentation, walking tour of Brindabella Business Park and a tour of the airport in its entirety. I would like to thank our sponsors and the conference organising committee for giving their time in helping to organise what we hope to be a truly successful conference. We hope you can join us in Canberra in August 2012. Yours faithfully, INFORMATION ABOUT CANBERRA AIRPORT Capital Airport Group purchased Canberra Airport from the Commonwealth Government s Federal Airports Corporation in May 1998. Canberra Airport is located approximately 12 km from Canberra s CBD. It offers international and domestic FBT operations. At the time of privatisation, the Airport consisted of the airport terminal, general aviation precinct and the RAAF Fairbairn base. Thirteen years later, Canberra Airport has evolved into a multimodal transport hub, business and retail destination. Key on airport property developments include: The multi award winning Brindabella Business Park is arguably Australia s greenest business centre. It is home to approximately 5,000 workers and encompasses 18 A-grade commercial buildings totalling 100,000m 2 NLA. The former RAAF base at Fairbairn is now the airport s largest commercial precinct, and represents the second stage of the Airport s business hub. It is currently occupied by approximately 2,000 workers. Majura Park is the newest multi faceted precinct, with an exciting combination of retail and commercial office accommodation (26,000m 2 NLA).
