Welcome to Northern New Jersey Boy Scout Camp Turrell Camp Turrell, 144 Galligan Rd, Cuddebackville, NY 12129 This guide will help you get started on your unit s weekend trip, with important information including fees and camp rental policies. Reservations are not confirmed unless paid in full. You may not clear an outstanding balance at camp. All cancellations less than 30 days before your rental will receive a 50% refund. All cancellations made less than 14 days before your rental will not receive any refund. Adult leadership (21 years or older) is required for each unit. A minimum of two (2) adults must accompany each group; one may be 18 or older. If the group splits up while at camp, additional adults of the appropriate age required so that each group is accompanied by two (2) adults. All Injuries, accidents and incidents are to be reported to the Ranger/Campmaster. It is the Unit Leader's responsibility to care for personal injuries. The possession or use of DRUGS AND ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ON CAMP PROPERTY IS PROHIBITED Firearms, archery equipment, air rifles and all fireworks are prohibited. NO pets are allowed in camp, except certified Service Dogs. No chainsaws, snowmobiles, dirt bikes, ATV's or sledding. Check in on Friday is from 7:00 PM 10:00 PM, Saturday is from 8:00 am 11 am and check out on Sunday is from 8 AM 11 am. All groups must be off the property by 2 PM. How to Check In: Check in on Friday is between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM or Saturday 8:00am until 11:00am. If other arrangements need to be made please let us know. Upon arrival to Camp Turrell, please check in at the Camp Office; either a Camp Master or the Camp Ranger will be available for your check-in. You will need to provide a complete roster with names and contact numbers. A deposit of.00 is due upon arrival, this may be cash or a check payable to: Northern New Jersey Council (NNJC). All fees for propane or damages must be reconciled after inspection and before departure. How to Check out: Site inspections will be between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM. All groups must depart from camp by 2:00 PM on Sunday. Please contact the Ranger/Camp Master when your unit is ready to depart. Facilities: Upon making your reservation you chose a specific site, if there is a need for different accommodations and they are available please reach out to the ranger and they can try to make any adjustments. (applicable fees will apply) Due to Local Health Code Regulations, the Dining Hall is not to be used as a sleeping quarter. Buildings and other unit s sites are off limits. Parking: Vehicles can park at their site; any over-flow cars can park down by the shop. Water: Seasonal water is located throughout camp during the warmer months. Approximately late- September to early-may water can be found outside of Kluge Lodge and Peterson Lodge Remember to bring your own water containers. Firewood and Fires: Due to the local infestation of the Emerald Ash Borer in other areas of our state there will be NO OUTSIDE WOOD allowed. There is an abundance of wood throughout the camp. Please do not cut or mutilate trees or shrubs. Liquid fuels may be used only by ADULTS. LP gas is preferred. Only one fire per patrol using existing fire rings. Trash: All trash must be removed from your camp area and carried out with you.
Fishing: The pond is a catch and release pond. There is NO FISHING on the beach or dam. Fishing is allowed anywhere else around the lake. Please clean up after yourself. Ice fishing is allowed in the winter, for more information talk to the camp ranger. We follow all New York Department of Fish and Wildlife rules and regulations related to fishing Play Fields: The playfield is available for your enjoyment and activities. These facilities are included with your rental, but we do ask that you coordinate with other units in camp to ensure everyone has availability to use them. Remember to bring your own equipment. Archery and BB Range: Ranges are open for use in September, October, April, and May. All reservations must be made at least 3 weeks prior to your rental. Space is limited and not guaranteed without a paid reservation. If you would like to provide your own instructor contact the office for more information. Canoe and Paddle Boats: Canoe and paddle boats can be rented for use during your rental, with the proper certifications. For further information see the Camp Ranger or Camp Master. Service projects: If your unit is interested in helping around camp please coordinate with the Camp Master of Camp Ranger. Trading Post: During your rental, you are welcomed to come and browse and make purchases in our trading post. You can arrange a time with the Camp Ranger. The trading post is stocked with patches, shirts, soft drinks, candy, chips and various other items. Camp Master Corps: o The Camp Master Corps are a group of volunteers that complete many of the improvements that are done around camp. The Camp Master also volunteers one or two weekends a year to help facilitate check-in/check-out procedures and to help units during their stay. Camp Turrell 144 Galligan Rd, Cuddebackville, NY 12129 - Take I 287 N to Mahwah, get on the NY Thruway I 87 N - Exit at Rt. 17 W (Thruway Exit 16/Harriman) you will be by the Woodbury Commons. - Take Rt. 17 W through Middletown to Exit 113 (Ellenville/Wurtsboro/Rt. 209) - At the top of the Ramp, go left onto Rt. 209 S - Go approximately 9 miles. You will go through Westbrookville and see a sign for Cuddebackville - In Cuddebackville, before the blinking light, turn right on Oakland Valley Rd. - Go approximately 4 miles on Oakland Valley Rd. you will pass the Speedway & Campground (on the left), and go over a river. - About ½ mile after the river, make a left onto Galligan Rd. In the approximately ½ mile, the road becomes dirt. - Go past the old railroad bed and look for the brown Drukker Scout Reservation/Camp Turrell sign and stay right. - It is a long 2.5-mile road. Go past Camp Kluge and up into the parking lot.
