YACHT TALK June 2015 Clover Island Yacht Club Kennewick, Washington From the Helm Board of Directors Commodore Larry Kuga Vice Jolene Grimes Commodore Secretary Mark Cope Entertainment Dave Chojnacki Building and Jeff Lomax Grounds Docks Kent McCue Past Dan Bunn Commodore in this newsletter. It looks like June showed up with the fire on! The days are hot, hot, hot, and perfect for boating or really cooling off on a personal watercraft. Looking back at May, we had some serious activity going on in the Club. The Cinco de Mayo party and Visitor s Weekend are always an amazingly great time! We have 5 new memberships from the Visitor s Weekend membership campaign and there has been a lot of buying & selling of boats, boathouses and slips! Watch for the upcoming Directory to see all the changes and find out Who s where in the Club now. Please help all our new members feel welcome and help them get off to a great start being active and enjoying the Club activities. See their names and a picture My heartfelt thanks go out to the Board for coordinating a fun and productive Visitor s Weekend, and to everyone who pitched in to make the functions go smoothly. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the boat and boathouse christenings, D-Dock really came through, once again, with a crazy-fun Cabana Party later in the afternoon. We certainly showed all our visitors where fun lives! Coming up in June, don t miss out on the Umatilla Cruise, our annual trek to celebrate Umatilla Landing Days with the Umatilla Yacht Club. You just can t get a better viewing location for an impressive fireworks display and here s your chance to get a funnel cake in the middle of summer. The docks at Richland Yacht Club are also having their Margaritaville Party again. It might be hot, but there are always plenty of cold margaritas, good food, and canopy shade to keep the fun and comfort going. We will soon be installing a combination lock on the bagged-ice freezer at the Club. We are attempting to prevent non-members from taking our ice. The combination will periodically change and the combination will be posted inside the Clubhouse. That way, you will need to have access to the clubhouse in order to get ice. Please be sure to re-lock the freezer when you take ice, or this effort is not going to work very well. Have a great month of boating and we will see you on the river!
