For nature lovers
Life in Pacaya Samiria National Reserve At any moment something unexpected can happen. Perhaps, it will happen, in your next step or when looking up at the top of that giant tree. The tropical forests, waterways and flood areas of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, create a real natural kingdom, of chance and wonder, where there s always a reason to stay astonished. Life: Flora and fauna. Sightings in a natural area of 2 080,000 hectares in which there are 965 wild plant species and 1,025 species of vertebrates. This is equivalent to 27 percent of such species in the country and 36 percent of those in the Amazon. An incredible exploration, imagine going on a boat through one of the world s most evocativelandscapes, the mighty Amazon rainforest. Home to one tenth of the Earth s known species, and a fifth of all free flowing water, this is an epic adventure into a tropical paradise. There are almost 40,000 known plant species in the lush Amazon, which sustain creatures such as jaguar, harpy eagles, pink dolphins, monkeys, two-toed sloths and a myriad birds, freshwater fish and butterflies. At times it seems like the entire forest is alive with noise and movement as you gently cruise along, first by boat and then by foot. You ll spot dolphins and the Giant Amazonian Lily, the Victoria Regia, a large water lily originally named after Queen Victoria. And if you want, you can try a bit of piranha fishing, or just relax and watch the forest and its inhabitants drift by. Highlights Pleasant boat ride into Pacaya Samiria National Reserve Journey to the Amazonian waterways searching for dolphins and piranhas. Professional guides will interpret the sounds and sights of the forest Sighting of the famous Victoria Regia Seasons Dry season: June to November. The weather is dryer but more importantly, the lower levels of water attract some creatures that are not commonly observed in the rainy season. The dry season is the time when most rivers in the Amazon begin to lower their levels, revealing sand beaches. This time of the year is ideal for travelers that prefer to walk through the rainforest so they can discover its flora and fauna. Wet Season: December to May. It rains more this time of year, and it is also true that many plants bear fruit and bloom during the rainy season. This attracts birds and primates to the water s edge for us to observe. The gigantic thunderstorms are a great pleasure to observe through the windows of the interior lounge on third deck.

Amazon Conservation Program Tourism plays a vital role in the pursuit of sustainability. In our commitment to sustainable management and responsible tourism we are working hard with local communities; once a week we visit them carrying groceries, supplies, clothes and shoes. As part of our work our naturalist guides make a speech about environmental conservation to children, such activity is performed in order to raise awareness and sensitize the community about the importance of protecting and preserving our environment and our natural resources. As part of our job, we work with artisan women in San Francisco; this is a local community along the Rio Ucayali. The work of art of these talented women is displayed in our ship as part of its decor. As part of our social assistance program, we also exhibit their crafts in our shop on board where we encourage tourists to buy these pieces of art in order to contribute to this community; all incomes will help us to support the school with school supplies throughout the year. Another important contribution is to support the Association for the Conservation of Amazonian Biodiversity (ACOBIA), where we work to support the preservation of our resources and environment. We contribute with a donation for the execution of its activities and likewise aim the community to have direct contact with nature and value the natural resources and the rich biodiversity provided to us by Mother Nature.
Crew & Guides Our river journeys were made thanks to the talented and experienced team of naturalist guides and professional crew that we have. Our Naturalist Lecturers, have assisted numerous biologists and documentary film makers in long term trips and research projects throughout the Amazon region. All are known for being the most knowledgeable jungle guides in the region with extensive insight to local culture and customs.
