Annual Report C H A I R P E R S O N S W E L C O M E WELCOME It s now almost a year since I took over as Chairperson of HealthynHappy Ltd. It has been an incredible year and has had many challenges and luckily as many rewards. The global economy downturn has had its effects on us. Nevertheless, we are still delivering successfully and remain committed to a long and fruitful life. This report celebrates the incredible achievements of the last year and of course the previous seven years and with your help we believe we have gone a long way to making our community healthier and happier. The organisation continues to grow with Alison Stell joining our team as a Mental Health and Wellbeing project worker and Lindsay Naughton and Ian Graham came on board under the Future Jobs Scheme. Lindsay eventually joined the team as an Administrative Assistant well done to her. Our volunteer numbers remain strong and highly effective, allowing us to improve on the delivery of many of our programmes and pieces of work. Needless to say, we still face challenges however we see more opportunities for the future and we look forward to your continued support. My heartfelt thanks to you all. May Caldwell Chairperson 3

HealthynHappy Working with you to make Cambuslang and Rutherglen healthier and happier for all. REPORT My journey with CHI started with a deeply depressed, anxious and stressed out person. With the help, care, support and I m sure, love, of the CHI team I am getting there. Anon, (CHI Volunteer) I N I T I AT I V E D I R E C T O R S R E P O R T This quote sums up in one heartfelt sentence why our directors, volunteers and staff are involved in HealthynHappy Ltd (Cambuslang and Rutherglen CHI) and why everyone works as hard as they do. We do things differently and it works. In fact it works exceptionally well and I am so pleased that we have had another tremendously successful year. Why does it work so well? Well, that is fairly easy to answer. We are led by local residents of all ages and we listen and act upon their skills and knowledge as to what works in their families and communities. We have talented experienced staff and volunteers and we have great support from our partners and funding agencies. The range of successful work we do is highlighted throughout our report and makes for very pleasant reading. The passion and skill that supports all of this work is not always so obvious and I would like to acknowledge and thank those who work very diligently in the background as well as those in the forefront. Over the year we have put in place significant plans to broaden how we attract income and we have some really innovative ideas to improve peoples lives while presenting exciting options for funders and investors. HealthynHappy Enterprises was born in November 2010 and our social enterprise journey is sure to be an exciting and ambitious one. As always we remain very upbeat about our successes and about our future. We know the world is a difficult place right now but we are planning to do more of what works and to grow our income base significantly to support this vision. Join us at our 2010/11 AGM where we will unveil our strategic vision and business plans for the years ahead. I commend our 2011 annual report to you and as always can I thank local people, our volunteers, board of directors and members of staff, colleagues from a wide range of groups and partner agencies and elected members, for their support and goodwill throughout last year and the past 8 years. It is greatly appreciated. Brendan Rooney Initiative Director 4
