Depart 10:20AM BRISBANE on Air New Zealand Arrive 2:10PM NORFOLK On arrival you need to collect your checked luggage and clear customs and immigration. Once in the main terminal you will be met by our local ground operator Pinetree Tours and transferred to your hotel, The Castaway Hotel and Resort, which will be your home for the next 7 nights. This boutique hotel has been fully refurbished and is ideally located in a lovely quiet spot just a short walk to the centre of town or a few minutes drive to the historic Kingston precinct. Day 2 Wednesday 18 November 2015 (B, D) Half Day Orientation Tour/Progressive Dinner Half Day Orientation Tour Pinetree Tours Half Day Orientation Tour is a must for every visitor. Visit historic Kingston, Cascade, Longridge and much more. See and hear about the famous convict buildings, beautiful beaches and golf course, the renowned Melanesian Chapel, local Government laws and lifestyle. Enjoy views from scenic spots on this full commentary conducted tour. Rest for a delicious morning tea in the garden of an historic island home built by Fletcher Quintal descendant of Bounty mutineers Fletcher Christian and Matthew Quintal. This afternoon you may elect to join our first every Wattletree Garden Tours golf day. (you will need to pay costs for green fees and club hire). We will make sure that we have some fun with prizes and trophies for various golfing feats. This afternoon is really intended to be fun for golfers, hackers and non-golfers alike. Progressive Dinner Enjoy a 3 course meal progressing to different Norfolk Island family homes. A fun night and a great way to meet the local people and sample some of the Island dishes. Day 3 Thursday 19 November 2015 (B, D) Farm and Industry Tour/Island Fish Fry/Sound and Light Show Farm and Industry Tour While tourism is Norfolk s largest industry, it is by no means its only one. One this tour, we take you to a selection of the many other enterprises that sustain the community. These might include: raising meat producing sheet, market gardening, pig farming, manufacturing soft drinks and liqueurs, aquaponics gardening or exporting Kentia seedlings. Refreshments will be provided. Lunch today is own arrangements and afternoon is at leisure. Island Fish Fry Enjoy a feast of Island dishes, salads, homemade bread and fresh fried fish, followed by Island desserts and tea or coffee. Watch the sun set from Puppy s Point on Norfolk s beautiful western coastline and enjoy some local entertainment. Sound and Light Show Nightfall at Kingston brings a different mood to the Convict Settlement. The stillness and the stars are there just as they were before settlers arrived in 1788. With the dramatic use of real life sounds, theatrical lighting and costumed actors, the stillness is broken as Pinetree Tours takes you through the horrifying decades of Norfolk Island s convict era. Day 4 Friday 20 November 2015 (B, D) Garden Tour and Picnic Lunch/Private Dinner at Sarnim Garden Tour and Picnic Lunch Today s tour mixes some of the island s loveliest gardens with some of its busiest working gardens. Visit Strawberry Fields Garden and Maze where you can relax and look at the work that s gone into the area or take your chances finding the middle of the maze. You ll see hydroponics and commercial gardens this morning as well as a visit to the local nursery. Spend some time strolling through Music Valley the oldest garden on Norfolk with the remains of a first settlement house in its 12 acres. You ll stop today for a picnic lunch at one of Norfolk s pretty scenic locations and enjoy a delicious lunch in delightful surrounds. After lunch on to the Norfolk Island National Park and Botanic Gardens which are a refuge for most of the last remaining forests that once covered Norfolk. A chance to walk in a little way here to see some of Norfolk s unique flora.
Dinner at Sarnim This beautiful old homestead was built in 1880 by Caleb Quintal (grandson of mutineer Matthew Quintal) and Ann Nobbs. It was originally a one bedroom cottage utilizing timber and stone from the Longridge Jail and was set on an original 50 acre land allotment given to the original Pitcairn settlers. It is now owned by Sarah Prentice the daughter of Michael Prentice who owns Pinetree Tours and the house has been in their family now for over 35 years. A private dinner for the group tonight will be served in the homestead. Day 5 Saturday 21 November (B, D) Breakfast Bush Walk/Pitcairn Settlers Village/Le Perouse Dinner Breakfast Bush Walk This morning take your choice of a stroll through One Hundred Acres Reserve or for the more energetic, a leisurely 3.5km walk through scenic Mt Bates to Captain Cook Monument. If you prefer not to rise early and bush walk you ll be picked up a little later and taken to join the walkers at Anson Bay as they return from their walk and where you ll all enjoy a delicious breakfast barbecue on the clifftop. Lunch today is own arrangements. Pitcairn Settlers Village On this unique historical tour you will learn about the proud history of the Pitcairn Islanders on Norfolk Island. In the grounds of a beautiful old island homestead stroll through the outbuildings, browse through the museum filled with items of nostalgic and historic interest, see the oldest working forge in the Pacific, look through an ex New Zealand Army hut with war-time memorabilia and watch an exclusive film of Norfolk Island interest. Light refreshments are included. La Perouse Tonight is a 2 course dinner at La Perouse Restaurant at the Paradise Hotel and Resort. Day 6 Sunday 22 November 2015 (B, L) Two Chimneys Wine Tasting and Lunch Two Chimneys Wine Tasting and Lunch Today transfer to Two Chimneys Wines Norfolk s only winery. The winery was established in 2002 and whilst the vines are maturing the family enjoy quality support of many in the wine industry and this is reflected in the wine produced under their own Two Chimneys Wines label. After your welcome and introductory talk enjoy a formal wine tasting from the premium wine range. Two Chimneys Wines are renowned for Noelene s Vineyard Platter. The platter of home-made delicacies is the very best example of quality design and presentation and represents the best fresh produce that is available from the family garden. Enjoy a complimentary glass of premium wine and finish your lunch with a decadent home-made exotic gateau and locally sourced plunger coffee. Day 7 Monday 23 November 2015 (B, D) Cheese Tour/Pizza under the Pines Christian Brothers Cheese Tour Christian Brothers Cheese Company is a boutique dairy and cheese producer started by two island brothers Glen and John Christian. The two over two hours will take you through a local farm with beautiful ocean views where you ll meet the milk cows, try the milking machine, see beehives and hear about producing the local honey. A quick visit to the local sawmill is an added bonus. The tour travels to Glen s house where you sample the range of cheeses with tasty condiments and complementary wine. Enjoy the scenic ocean and valley views from the verandah whilst cheesemaker John gives you an informative talk. Lunch today is own arrangements and the afternoon is at leisure. Pizza under the Pines Enjoy a welcome cocktail followed by gourmet wood fired pizzas in the beautiful surroundings of one of Norfolk s pine forests. Sit back and relax while you are spoilt with pizzas and salads especially made from locally sourced produce. Top your meal off with homemade ice cream and gelato, tea and coffee. Day 8 Tuesday 24 November 2015 (B) Depart Norfolk Enjoy a free morning at leisure. Standard checkout time applies.
