SummerCamp 2013 FINDLEY REGISTER ONLINE AT CAMPFINDLEY.ORG

Hello Friends, As a young camper, I experienced a world that introduced me to new activities and helped me understand what it meant to live in Christian community and function as part of larger family. Hiking, making crafts, flying hot air balloons, singing around a campfire and swimming in a lake for the first time helped me grow in so many ways. As a teenager, I gained confidence as I played my guitar and sang a solo in front of my peers for the first time. I know from personal experience that camp changes a life forever. Now, with children of my own, I understand the trust it takes to leave my child in the care of others. Our dedicated team of professional staff is preparing an exciting summer; and our first and most important goal is that children and youth are provided a safe place where they can find themselves, define themselves, and just be themselves. The mission of Camp & Retreat Ministries is to provide programs for the purpose of Christian education and spiritual birth, growth and renewal. Sending your children to a fun-filled, life-changing, experience at summer camp is an investment in their lives. Campers will learn new skills, make new friends, live in Christian community, experience ways to grow in their relationship with God, and have fun doing it. Our low camper-to-staff ratio helps ensure a positive experience for each camper. There will be something new this year for first time and returning campers alike. Retreat participants and summer campers receive quality programs that impact the world by empowering children, youth and adults to love God and their neighbor. Looking forward to seeing you at camp. Owning property is both a blessing and a responsibility; and here in the Upper New York Annual Conference, we have been entrusted with the care and stewardship of six (6) camp and retreat centers. In July of 2010, four conferences came together to form one conference; and with that uniting, the Upper New York Annual Conference gained camp and retreat centers unique in their individual ministry outreach and also unique in the state of health of their facilities. CRM staff has worked diligently to introduce new events at each of our sites, and is committed to continued development of innovative programming that serves to introduce people to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their relationship with God. The critical need at each of our sites at the present time is a maintenance fund that will ensure long-term sustainability of our facilities and make certain that quality space is provided for our summer campers and retreat guests. YOU can be instrumental in the development of a long-term Maintenance Fund with a gift to Camp & Retreat Ministries. Gifts received will be held in a fund to support the capital needs at each of the six sites. Please consider this opportunity to support Camp & Retreat Ministries by sending a generous gift to Upper New York Annual Conference CRM or UNYAC-CRM, 324 University Ave., 3rd floor, Syracuse, NY 13210. Let us know that your gift is for facility needs, and thanks in advance for your generosity.

Hey Parents... things you ll want to know about summer camp at findley ABOUT OUR ACTIVITIES Whether you re an expert or beginning camper, there s something here for you! Our qualified staff will encourage you and ensure your safety. There are many options to choose from, and all equipment and safety gear is provided unless stated otherwise in the confirmation material. Please note that for the safety of our guests, all campers must pass a swim evaluation to take part in most waterfront activities. Campers who are not strong swimmers will have limited, but quality, access to the waterfront activities. FOOD SERVICE Always one of the most important parts of camp, we provide quality food and plenty of it! Healthy and delicious home-style meals are prepared daily and usually served cafeteria style. We seek to meet special dietary needs, provided we receive advance notice. ACCOMODATIONS Most of our accommodations are dorm style with 2 campers to a room and a shared restroom on the hall. The cabins have a larger common sleeping room and each has a restroom with a shower. The meadow is our rustic site where campers help prepare some meals. There are restrooms with showers in the pavilion there. Potable drinking water is available. The meadow is easily accessible to emergency vehicles. CABIN MATE REQUESTS We will seek to honor cabinmate requests made at least 2 weeks before camp begins, provided campers are registered in the same program; ages are not more than 24 months apart and the request is made by both people. Note that this is optional and many campers do not make requests. While we to seek to honor your wishes, we also value kids making new friends. Please call if you have questions. HEALTH & SAFETY The health and safety of all our guests is of utmost importance. Our Health Care Staff includes a consulting physician, one on-site Registered Nurse, at least one EMT, and several RTE s. Many of our summer staff are certified in CPR and/or first aid. In addition, there is a full-service hospital located within a half hour of each site. Staff are chosen after a rigorous application and screening process; and pre-summer staff training is provided. Red Cross certified lifeguards provide a safe environment for all water and beach activities. Findley is permitted annually and inspected a minimum of 2 times a year by the New York State or County Department of Health. Inspection reports are available at the main office. CAMPER MAIL, TELEPHONE CALLS, and CELL PHONES Mail is delivered to and picked up from campers daily. Letters are welcome and encouraged; but parents are asked NOT to send packages. Any packages received while a child is at camp will be held until the end of the week and sent home with the child. Address camper mail to: Camper Name, Program Name c/o Findley 2334 Sunnyside Rd Clymer NY, 14724 EMAIL E-mail is also printed and delivered to campers daily; see our websites for details.
