PAGE 2 September: Kerrie Gilbert Ellis presented an excellent program about Liberian fabrics. She discussed the different traditional fabrics and how each pieces design meant something like the area the fabric was made, pattern, and wealth status. Kerrie had many samples of the fabrics and as a special treat, everyone was given a piece of Vlisco fabric. Wednesdays 10:00-2:00 The guild room is open for fun, fellowship, mystery lunches, and of course quilting! Work on projects together or work on your own. The Guild appreciates all the work they do!!! Brenda Thrash on behalf of the guild presented a patriotic quilt to Iris Hallbert in appreciation for her service to our country. Reminder: Christmas blocks are due. Time Saver: Wind several bobbins at once. Once your in the sewing groove, you can change bobbins quickly when out of thread. Unroll dough onto work surface. Spread with raspberry preserves. Sprinkle evenly with almonds. Roll dough back up. Cut dough roll into 8 equal slices. Place slices cut side down on nonstick cookie sheet. Bake 12 to 16 minutes or until golden and puffed. Cool 10 minutes before enjoying. Quilt Shows & Other Activities: October 21-23: Mini camp in the guild room hosted by Joan Bolesworth, 9am until you want to leave but no later than 9pm. Location: Rhema Ranch outside Checotah, OK Date: 9:00 am Thursday Aug 18 to 11:00 am Sunday Aug 21, 2016. NO EARLY ARRIVALS. Please be packed & ready to leave the facility on or before 11:00 am Sunday. Cost: $140 per camper. Payment guarantees your space & is due at the time of registration. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS. Please contact the camp director if you re unable to attend camp. We have a wait-list and will be glad to help you find a replacement, but there are no guarantees. What is provided: Lodging, meals, beverages to include water, tea, lemonade, fruit punch, coffee, (beginning with lunch on Thursday & ending with a continental breakfast on Sunday), sewing tables, community cutting & ironing stations. Suggested items to bring: Anything you might need to work on your personal project(s). Sewing machine, extension cord, personal sewing chair (opt), bedding, towels & shower items, flashlight, ear plugs, A COVERED CUP IS REQUIRED in the SEWING AREA. Vendor(s): Available for your shopping convenience. Swimming: The swimming pool will be available for our use. NO SWIMMING ALONE, always take a buddy with you.
