Poland Along the Vistula Cycling Tour 2018 Guided 8 days/7 nights Vistula is Poland s longest river. Cycling along the Vistula, we will visit some of the cities, which have played a key role in the history of the region. You will visit the center of Polish science, culture and industry - Cracow, the capital and the biggest city - Warsaw, Baranów Sandomierski, Sandomierz and Kazimierz Dolny.
Itinerary Day to Day Day 1: Welcome to Krakow Individual arrival in Cracow. A tour representative will meet you at 2 p.m. in your hotel. Afterwards we tour the Old Town and enjoy its unique atmosphere. It has been on the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1978. Landmarks include St. Mary's Basilica, particularly famous for its wooden altarpiece carved by Veit Stoss, Wawel Cathedral and the Royal Castle. After the tour (3 hours) dinner in a restaurant in the Old Town is scheduled. Accommodation in a hotel in Cracow. Day 2: Through the forest to the castle 33 km After breakfast we go by train/bus out of town and have a nice cycling tour in the surrounding countryside. On the way, in Niepołomice, we admire a Gothic castle built by king Kazimierz the Great in the 14th century in the Vistula valley. Further we ride through the beautiful Niepołomicki forest. We return to Cracow by train. Dinner and accommodation as on day one. Day 3: Baranów Sandomierski 53 km by bike 120 km by bus After a bus transfer we cycle towards Baranów Sandomierski. On our way we pass some villages and enjoy the quiet and picturesque countryside. We reach our hotel in Baranów Sandomierski late in the afternoon. The hotel is located in a castle. The castle, built at the end of the 16th century in Renaissance style, is one of the most impressive residences of the former Polish aristocracy. Dinner and accommodation in the hotel in the castle Day 4: Sandomierz 60 km In the morning we tour the castle and then continue cycling along the Vistula River. It takes the whole day to reach our next destination - Sandomierz. The town is located a few kilometres from the spot where the river San joins the river Vistula. The beautiful architecture of the Old Town in Sandomierz is a big touristic attraction, almost comparable with Cracow. Dinner and accommodation in a hotel in Sandomierz. Pinterest.com Day 5: Sandomierz underground and on the Vistula 20 km After breakfast we have a guided tour of the city (underground tunnels, Gothic cathedral, about 3 hours long). Then by bike we explore the nearby area of Sandomierz. In the evening a ship cruise awaits us, a perfect way to enjoy the beautiful landscape and the town's panorama. Dinner and accommodation as on day four.
Day 6: Kazimierz Dolny unspoilt nature 40 km by bike 50 km by bus After the bus transfer we begin our bike trip. We cycle along the river Vistula through the scenic Kazimierz Dolny Landscape Park and enjoy its nature. The absence of industrial activities of any sort permitted flora and fauna to flourish there and some rare species may be found in the area. Dinner and accommodation in a hotel in Kazimierz Dolny. Day 7: Kazimierz Dolny a picturesque Renaissance town 33 km In the morning a tour of Kazimierz Dolny is scheduled. In the old town we admire its picturesque architecture, especially facades in the Renaissance style. From the "Baszta" (the Tower) we can enjoy a panoramic view of the town that fits in so well into the overall natural countryside. On our cycling trip in the afternoon we explore once more the lovely surroundings of the town. In the evening we have a bonfire. Accommodation as on day six. Day 8: End of the tour Right after breakfast we ride by bus to Warsaw (about 160 km), where we have a guided tour of the city. The tour ends in the Warszawa Centralna train station about 3 p.m. Individual departure.
