We meet at the airport for check-in and board the plane for our transatlantic flight. We sit back, relax, and enjoy the flight. (D-in flight) Saturday Rome Arriving in Rome, we ll go through customs, then meet our tour manager and motorcoach driver. Once in the heart of the city we ll stop for lunch before visiting ancient Rome. From Palatine Hill, we see relics left from the height of Roman influence. Our tour takes us to the Colosseum, the Arch of Constantine and the Roman Forum. We then go to the hotel for check-in and a group dinner. The evening is free to rest and recover from the flight. (B-in flight, D) Sunday Rome After breakfast, we head to St. Peter s Basilica for Sunday Mass. This holy space has been a place of worship since the 4th century. After the service there will be time for lunch before seeing more of Rome. This afternoon we will visit the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. These architectural monuments dating from Classical Rome to the Renaissance showcase the wealth, beauty and prestige of Rome. Monday Rome, Siena, Montecatini Heading back to the Vatican, we have a guided tour of the museums, St. Peter s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. After a quick lunch we board the motorcoach, heading north to Tuscany. On our way we stop in Siena, where the picturesque gothic brick city center is a UNESCO World Heritage site. After a guided tour of the town, we meet for a group dinner before continuing to Montecatini Terme, where we check in for a two-night stay. (B, D) Tuesday Florence, Montecatini This morning we take the short drive to Florence. Here we have a guided walking tour of this artfilled city and visit the Galleria dell Accademia to see Michelangelo s famous David sculpture. After a full day, we head back to Montecatini in time to participate in Santa Maria Assunta s Caritas Service. This church runs a shelter for the poor, providing meals and a place to sleep. We have planned to help with their evening meal before partaking in our group dinner. (B, D) Wednesday Pisa, Mestre Our day s agenda starts after breakfast with a drive to the city famous for its leaning tower. In Pisa, we visit its white marble cathedral, and see the baptistery and campanile (leaning tower). From there we head north for Mestre, stopping along the way for lunch. Arriving just outside of Venice, we ll check into the hotel for our final two nights. (B, D) Thursday Venice, Mestre Today we take a quick train ride into the island city of Venice. We ll have a guided walking tour that includes a visit to the Doges Palace and St. Mark s Basilica. The rest of the day is open for sight-seeing and souvenir shopping. Our farewell dinner will be in Venice before we head back to the mainland. (B,D) Friday Return All too soon, it is time to return home. After an early morning check-out, we transfer to the airport for our return flights.
