CHULU WEST PEAK CLIMBING Gets the awesome experience of Chulu West (6419m) peak climbing! This is the higher one among the two Chulu East and the central. Chulu West peak is located in a small valley to northern part of Manang and falls distant from the main way to the Thorung La. You will be rewarded with the awesome views Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Nilgiri, and other enormous peaks while climbing the Chulu West. To climb the peak all you need to have is a good physical state, higher level of strength and the enthusiasm to climb. Chulu West Peak expedition, unquestionably offers an appealing peak climbing chance for those seeking for an exciting adventure in the Annapurna Region. Chulu west peak climbing trip begins from Besisahar after around 6 hours drive from Kathmandu and then the path ascend slowly to Manang valley located at an elevation of 5000m. And, from the valley the trail leads to the north direction to the Chulu West Base camp. Above the base camp some vertical movable rock which demands for some fixing of ropes. We will also traverse the well-known Throng-La pass (5416M) and then trek down to Jomsom (2750m). There is no technical complexity in getting to the summit of Chulu West but ascend can be time-consuming depending on the weather. Chulu West peak, a part of Manang Himal is rather specifically incorporated in the bigger Damodar Himal. And along with the awe-inspiring views of Himalayas, from the north to south direction, you will be greeted by the wonderful river views of- Hunlung Khola, Phu Khola as well as Nar Khola. Specifically, to the South, the region is attached with the Marsyangdi River and the Mesokanta La pass. This 21-days Chulu West Expedition takes you to the maximum altitude of 6419m. Tentatively, you will walk 6 hours per day. The best seasons for Chulu West Peak Climb are autumn in between mid September and November and spring from Mid March to May. Activity Levels: Challenging For any trek at this level, fitness is most important and you may have to improve yours before departure. Most "C" grade treks are equivalent to extended walking in mountainous terrain at home, but usually at significantly higher altitudes; climate and remoteness can also play a part. Walking days are usually between 6 to 8 hours although there may be some longer days for passcrossing or similar. Previous trekking experience is desirable but not essential if you are confident of your physical condition.

Each moment we have to work hard through the icy high-altitude trail but the outstanding high Himalayan scenes are such tempting that our eyes love to watch more over the horizon than on our trail. After summiting, we return back to Base Camp. (B, L, D) Day:16: Base Camp to Thorong Phedi [4450m/14,596ft]: 3-4 hrs FROM BASE CAMP, OUR RETURN PATH DESCENDS ALL THE WAY TO LEDER. WHILE DESCENDING, WE ENJOY THE PANORAMIC VIEWS OF THE ANNAPURNAS AND OTHER PEAKS. FROM LETDAR WE WILL CONTINUE TO CLIMB ALONG THE EAST BANK OF THE JARANG KHOLA TO THORUNG PHEDI, A ROCK-STREWN MEADOW SURROUNDED BY VERTICAL CLIFFS AT 4,450 METER. BLUE SHEEP AND EVEN SNOW LEOPARDS CAN BE SOMETIMES SEEN IN THIS VALLEY. HIGH IN THE SKIES ABOVE US WE CAN SEE LAMMERGEYERS AND HIMALAYAN GRIFFONS CIRCLING AROUND (3-4 HRS). WE MAKE OUR OVERNIGHT STAY AT THRONGPHEDI AND CELEBRATE THE SUMMITING OF CHULU WEST PEAK. (B, L, D) Day:17: Thorong Phedi-Throng La Pass [5416m/17,765ft] Muktinath [3,800/12,467ft] Today is a long trek starting before sunrise at maybe 04:00 hrs to reach the pass by 09:00/10:00 hrs at the latest, as

otherwise weather conditions will greatly affect the journey. We cross over at an altitude of 5416m so can be exposed to strong winds if crossing too late. Local people have used this trail for hundreds of years to bring herds of sheep and yaks in and out of Manang. Thus the trail, while often steep, is well defined and easy to follow. Snow can block the pass at any time of the year if there has been an unseasonable storm. It takes from four to six hours from Thorung Phedi to the pass, but the many false summits mean the climb seems to go on forever. At the Thorung La pass, with its traditional prayer flags and stone cairn we will have outstanding views. You can see the Annapunas, Gangapurna and Khatung Kang, a heavily glaciated peak. Amazingly there is a teashop here on top of the pass at 5416 meter. From here we start a long descend of about 1600 meter with outstanding views of Dhaulagiri mountain standing alone in the distance across the valley. After the trail becomes less steep we will enter grassy fields and cross meadows to our final destination of Muktinath, which means place of Nirvana and is home to the Muktinath temple as well as several monasteries. It is said that all sorrows you feel are relieved when visiting the Temple, which is a scared pilgrimage site to both Hindus and Buddhists. The main pilgrimage normally takes place in September. The Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and has 108 waterspouts around it from which Holy water pours. Another attraction nearby is the JwalaMai Temple and this contains a spring and an eternal flame fed by natural underground gas (7-8 hrs). Day:18: Trek/ Drive to Jomosom from Muktinath We now begin the descent down the dramatic Kali Gandaki valley, initially through arid country in the same geographical and climatic zone as Tibet. After passing through Jharkot and Khingar, villages with typical Tibetan architecture, we follow the valley floor most of the way to Jomsom and are rewarded with tremendous views of both Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri. Jomsom is a large town sprawled along both banks of the Kali Gandaki River, and it is here we will spend the final night of our trek. [4/5 hours] Day:19: Fly to Pokhara from Jomosom After breakfast, we will fly to Pokhara (One of best flight for real mountain scenery, just 20 min flight) then we will drive to Hotel in Pokhara by Private Vehicles. After sometime, Sightseeing tour of Devi s fall, Gupteshower Cave, Bats Cave, Mahendra cave, Seti River George, Bhidyabasini temple. This is about 2-3hrs short tour in Pokhara city. Overnight Stay at Hotel Day:20: Fly/Drive to Kathmandu from Pokhara Drive to Sarankot hill for sunrise tour and fly back to Kathmandu. We also strongly recommend that you take out delayed departure and cancellation insurance, as all deposits paid are non-refundable. A relaxed trip is not possible without good travel insurance. In the event of any sickness or injury, the cost of emergency treatment and evacuation is shocking. Therefore, travel insurance is strongly recommended for everyone who signs up with Mountain Sherpa Trekking & Expeditions. We strongly recommend that you be careful while choosing a policy as some makes special exceptions for adventure travel.

Before buying your insurance, please ensure that your insurer is aware of your MSTE itinerary and can agree to cover the activities being undertaken in the trip to Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan & India. Such as if you are planning trekking or climbing/expedition in Himalayas your insurance must cover emergency air ambulance/helicopter rescue including medical expenses. For a group tours in urban areas, your insurance coverage of ambulance or helicopter rescue is not mandatory, however better to have with them too. Again, in Tibet, Bhutan & India trips there is no possibility of helicopter rescue, so no need to buy the air ambulance coverage.you need send us your copy of your insurance policy (e.g. your insurance certificate) or carry it with you while you come on the trip.
