Programs are typically ½ day for groups, teams and individuals. There is a daily tour for the General Public. The wall is 32 high with 4 routes climbing routes. The double Zipline runs ~900 across a pond with optional water landings. There is also a Bouldering Wall, Cave, Flying Squirrel, and Giant s Ladder. Rock Climbing on real rock takes place at a variety of location in and around Whitehorse. All are single pitch with slingshot belay. Canoeing is mostly done with Canoe Cata-rafts on the Yukon and Takhini Rivers GPTeaming is a leadership development program. Small groups use GPS to find waypoints, where they do initiative tasks. The program focuses on problem solving, trust, communication, risk taking, and time management. Ice Towers are constructed in November and operational from mid December to early April. Core components include a Climbing Tower / Zipline facility at Takhini Hot Springs, Rock Climbing, GPTeaming, Canoeing, and Ice Climbing in the winter. Adventure Rox Day Camp runs for 10 weeks throughout the summer. Campers are involved in various adventure based activities including: voyager canoeing, rock climbing, zip line, outdoor survival skills, raft building, river trips and an overnight camping experience. In the spring we are busy with School Groups. The goal of Equinox programming is to expose our clients to a variety of adventure based activities in a safe and structured environment. Skills instruction, Encouragement and Safety are the primary program components. Clients are encouraged to try new things, expand their skill base while being part of a team environment. The Operations Coordinator is responsible for a variety of aspects including: Marketing ~ developing and distributing print, email and social media material Managing group bookings and daily tour sign up. Responding to inquiries by phone and email Managing Camper registrations (mailing out camper packages, processing registration forms and camper fees) Frequent communication with clients and camper parents (including a pre-camp check in) Support of Day Camp Leaders (of which there are 2 to 4), including shopping for program supplies Ensuring all aspects of general operations and camp are organized and prepared Interact with clients, campers and other staff to provide positive role modeling, support and supervision Assisting with instructing adventure based activities Working with other staff to develop, plan, organize, facilitate and evaluate new and existing programs Ensuring a high level of safety is maintained in all aspects of operation Providing evaluations of programs This is a Full Time position Mon Fri for a total of 40 hours / week and quasi-seasonal position ~2 months off in the Fall. Junior Leader Rate of Pay: $11/hr Hours / Week 30-35 Start Date: Early June End Date: End of August The Equinox Outdoor Learning Centre in Whitehorse Yukon Canada provides quality adventure experiences in engaging environments for a variety of clientele. We run a variety of programs to meet the needs of a diverse cliental. Our three main program streams are Equinox Adventure Camp, the Equinox Rox Climbing Wall & Zip Line and Team Building Programs. The Junior Leader is an apprenticeship position. They receive extra training and mentorship. They are responsible for assisting with the facilitation of the following programs: 1. Day camp: Duties include working with children ages 8-13 years old and assisting the Day Camp Leader and Day Camp Coordinator with developing, planning and facilitating a variety of adventure based activities. A typical week consists of lessons in the following areas: voyager canoeing, rock climbing, riding the 1000 zip line, mountain biking, outdoor survival skills, raft building, and soaks in the hot springs. The Junior Leader will be expected to work as part of a team in maintaining a safe and fun learning environment for the campers. 2. Rock Climbing & Zip Line: Climbing and zip line provides programming for both individuals as well as teams & groups. Duties include working as a team to maintain a safe and positive climbing environment, assisting participants with safety gear and co-facilitating lessons. 3. Team Building Programs: This involves assisting with programming to meet the specific needs of teams and groups involved in our adventure based team building program. Some programs utilize the climbing wall and zip line, while others consist of land based activities.
