We had a very nice party last Friday, and it was lots of fun being with everyone. Our Awards Winners for 2017 were announced, and the Dick Hemsoth Award went to Bob and Mary Kasper. The Golden Quill award went to John Nelsen for his great work on the website. Congratulations to our winners, and thanks for your contributions to the Club. We have some new officers for the next term. John Albright will be our new Membership Chairman, and Renee Karns will be our new Secretary. Thank you both for stepping up to serve as officers. I think 2017 was a very good year for our Club. Many of us attended lots of events, and NCTA was well represented everywhere. Our trips to VTR and The Roadster Factory were very enjoyable. Here is something to think about before the year is over. What was your best drive in 2017? I had some great drives, but the best had to be driving to Millersburg one Saturday morning with the top down in a dense fog. It was like being in a cloud. As we passed Amish buggies the sound of their hoofs was amplified, and the silhouette of their black buggies was sort of eerie. Hope everyone has a very good 2018, and I hope to see you in the coming year. Roger IMPORTANT: All material published has been contributed by NCTA members and other interested parties. If you send an ad, please let me know if your item sells so your ad may be removed. NEOBCC News A special meeting was held on December 7th to discuss the combined car show with board members from both the NE Ohio Austin Healey Club and NCTA along with Tony Burgess from the NEOBCC. Members of both clubs attending were as follows: NE Ohio Austin Healey Club: President Pete Haburt, Treasurer Daryl Wagner, and NEOBCC Representative Gary Feldman NCTA: President Roger Mauter, Secretary Bev Mauter, Treasurer Doug Karns, and NEOBCC Representatives John & Doreen Triska The main topic of discussion was a concern with moving the show to The Western Reserve Academy venue. The college is very interested in having the show, but had a stipulation that if it rained the week before, we could not park on the soccer fields. It was brought up that we could possibly park on the streets within the campus but they are public streets and the City of Hudson would have to get involved. Daryl Wagner is checking with the city to see what is involved and will report back to us with his findings. As a backup plan it was decided that the best thing for this year would be to go back to Ursuline for the July 28th or 29th show. This is the week before the Jaguar Concours Show at the same location. Doreen and I are also contacting Classic Mini or Cleveland Mini for sponsorship of the event. A follow up meeting is scheduled for January 8th to further discuss the findings from Daryl Wagner. John Triska

Drive Your Triumph Day The below email was sent to me from Rye Livingston, Activities Chairman for the Triumph Travelers Sports Car Club, which is based around San Francisco and Central California Last year I reached out to as many Triumph Clubs as I could find around the world, encouraging everyone to celebrate Sir John Black s Birthday on February 10th, the man who bought Standard/Triumph after WWII and built many of the Triumphs we enjoy today. I received a great response with close to 150 photos sent to me from all over the world: Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Finland, UK, across the USA and more. It s that time again to send out my request so it can be published on club websites, calendars and newsletters. The concept is to go for a drive in your Triumph: on a country road, out to lunch, to the market, to work, where ever. Go for a drive alone or with a bunch of fellow Triumph Club members. Take a spouse, buddy, child, grandchild or dog. Go for a drive and then take a photo. The photo is mainly of the car, ideally in a cool spot or in front of a landmark, also in front of a market, hardware store or workplace is all-good. Then send me the photo with basic info: name and place photo was taken and the year & model of the car. Remember, this is a photo taken on February 10th. Last year I posted all the photos online, https://ttscc.shutterfly.com/pictures/3178, and a large selection were published in the US national magazine of the Vintage Triumph Register, https://vintagetriumphregister.org If you live in part of the world where your car is stored for the winter, or your car is in restoration, you can still participate. Take a photo of the car in the garage and send it in. I've set up a special email address to send photos: driveyourtriumphday@gmail.com Please contact me with any questions you may have, and thank you in advance for getting the message out to your members to drive their Triumph on February 10th. Regards, Rye Livingston Activities Chairman Triumph Travelers Sports Car Club 1960 Triumph TR3A DriveYourTriumphDay@gmail.com
