Commercial Burglaries: Date/Time Address (block range) Method of Entry /Suspect Information From: 08/22/2018 11:00pm To: 08/23/2018 9:00am 23000 Greenfield Rd. (Commercial- Steakhouse) No signs of forced entry on outside. Door to managers office on interior was forced open. There was no forced entry into the business (Restaurant) however there was forced entry into the interior office. The interior office door had the lock punched out with an unknown type of hammer or hard object. The lock was in pieces on the floor and the door frame was also broken. Suspect(s) attempted to open a large steel floor safe that was in the manager s office. The safe had the hinges cut open with a grinder type of tool. The suspects did not enter the safe and it doesn t appear that anything was taken. This incident appears be an inside job as the alarm was never set by whoever closed the night before and there wasn t any forced entry into business. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician processed the scene and gathered evidence. Home Invasion: Date/Time Address (block range) Method of Entry /Suspect Information 08/20/2018 6:54pm 23000 Evergreen Rd. (Residential- Apartments) Apartment Door was pried open. Victim states sometime between Friday 08/17/2018 @ 8:00am and Monday 08/20/2018 @ 4:20pm someone forced entry into apartment and took 1- ipad, and 1-50-inch Flat Screen TV. The apartment across the hall was also broken into over the weekend. 08/21/2018 11:47am 23000 Grayson Dr. Front door was kicked in. Victim states an altercation began when victim received a phone call from her ex-boyfriend who said he was on the way to pick up their child in common, from her house for football practice. Victim told her ex. that their son was still sleeping and to come later. Victims ex. showed up to the residence a short time after the phone conversation, forced entry into victim s residence, assaulted victim and then left with the child. Suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation. (Residential- Condo s) S - Stolen Manufacturer FORD Model TAURUS Color BLK - Black Vehicle Year 2014 Body Style 4D - 4 Door State MI License Year 2018 2014 FORD TAURUS 4DR BLACK Officer was dispatched to location reference Auto Theft Investigation. While in route to location Officer received information that the victim had a Felony Warrant out of a neighboring community for Fraudulent use of a Credit Card. The warrant was confirmed and they will pick up. Upon arrival, Officer contacted victim/ suspect who stated that he parked his car last night at around 12:30am and when he went to take the garbage out this morning he noticed it was gone. The asphalt where victim/suspect had his vehicle parked you could see scrape marks where it appeared the vehicle was dragged and maybe loaded onto some type of Tow Truck. After obtaining all the necessary information for the Auto Theft report victim/ suspect was advised of his warrant. He was taken into custody w/o incident and transported to the Southfield Jail where he was held for jurisdiction with warrant.

S - Stolen Manufacturer DODGE Model DART Color BLU - Blue Vehicle Year Body Style State License Year 12015 4D - 4 Door MI 2018 MOTOR VEHICLE Owner of vehicle states his son took his vehicle without his permission. Victim last saw his vehicle on Friday August 24, 2018@ 11:30pm. When victim made phone contact with his son, he claimed the vehicle was subsequently stolen from Southfield Hotel in the 27000 Block of Northwestern Ser. Dr. while he was attending a party there. Note: Victim hasn t seen his son or the vehicle since his son took the vehicle w/o permission. The vehicle was entered into l.e.i.n. as stolen. On 08/25/2018 the owner and his son came into the front desk. The owner s son wrote out a statement admitting to allowing his friends to use the vehicle for illegal activity. No further information was provided as to the identity of these friends. Incident is under investigation.

From: 08/25/2018 9:00pm To: 08/26/2018 9:00am 25000 Code Rd S - Stolen Manufacturer FORD Model FUSION Color Vehicle Year 2009 Body Style State MI Stolen 2009 Ford Fusion Victim states sometime between 9:00pm and the following morning at 9:00am someone stole his 2009 Ford Fusion. Victim recently lost one set of keys to the vehicle and the other set of keys was in the driver's side door panel. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens should never leave an extra set of keys to their vehicles anywhere in the interior of the vehicle! Larceny: Date/Time Address (block range) Item Taken Details 08/20/2018 9:17am 24000 Civic Center Dr. (Residential- Apartments) Several items of jewelry were taken. Victim states sometime within the last year someone took several pieces of jewelry that she had placed in books that had hidden compartments. No suspects. 08/22/2018 9:48am 22000 Telegraph Rd. (Commercial Rental) 2- Backpack Blowers were taken from victims Landscaping Truck. Victim states a Dark Green Jeep type vehicle pulled up next to their landscaping truck. A tall thin black male exited the rear passenger seat of the jeep, jumped into the back of their work truck and grabbed 2- Back Pack Blowers and jumped back into the jeep. The suspect vehicle then went S/B on Telegraph Rd. 08/22/2018 9:00am W Nine Mile Rd. & Greenfield Rd. S Stolen from 1996 Toyota Camry Michigan License Plate Officer stopped vehicle for No License Plate. After speaking with the driver, it was discovered that her plate had been stolen from her vehicle sometime between 9:00am- 5:00pm. The vehicle was parked to the rear of business (9 Mile & Greenfield) where victim works and the employee s park.

(Residential- Apartments) Phone Company Phones, Tablets, and accessories were taken from victims 2017 White Nissan Altima Victim works for Phone Company. Victim was working in Southfield and his last call for the day was in the 25000 Block of Shiawassee. (Apartment Complex) Victim met with the resident at his apartment and set his keys for his vehicle down while working at the apartment. Victim states while working at apartment a friend of the resident came over and the resident was observed handing something to him. he was gone for approx. 5 minutes and then returned. When victim left the residence, he noticed that his keys had been moved but didn t think anything about it. Later in the day when he got home from work, victim discovered that numerous items were missing from his vehicle. Victim thinks that the friend used his keys to get into his vehicle and took the items. No forced entry observed and no suspect info available. 08/23/2018 8:00pm 28000 Telegraph Rd. (Shopping Center Parking Lot.) S - Stolen Manufacturer APPLE Model iphone8 Color SIL - Silver or Aluminum SMART PHONE- Taken from victims 2007 Chevy Malibu. Victim came into the front desk to report that on Thursday August 23, 2018 at approx. 8:00pm her phone was stolen out of her vehicle. It is unknown how entry was gained, no damage or signs of forced entry. (Residential- Apartments) S - Stolen Miscellaneous Lawn Equipment was taken from victims 2003 GMC Box Truck. Victim (Owner of Landscaping Company) came into the front desk to report on Thursday August 23, 2018 between 1:00pm & 3:00pm one of his crews was landscaping at the Apartment Complex in the 25000 Block of Eight Mile Rd. when their lawn equipment was stolen out of their work van. No suspect information.

08/23/2018 3:00pm 28000 Lockdale St. (Residential- Apartments) S - Stolen Gas Cap was taken from 2012 Nissan Maxima. Victim came into the front desk to report that sometime on Thursday 08/23/2018 her Gas Cap was taken from her 2012 Nissan Maxima. No suspect info. From: 08/23/2018 6:00pm To: 08/25/2018 10:00am 21000 W Eight Mile Rd. (Commercial- Import Auto Repair) I - Information Only Manufacturer Land Rover Model Range Rover License No. Color BLK - Black Vehicle Year 1997 Manager for business advises they found a wallet with ID in the wallet belonging to a person that doesn t match the name of the person who dropped the car off for repair. Manager stated the vehicle in question looked like it had been gone through but it is unknown if any items are missing from the vehicle. From: 08/25/2018 6:25pm To: 08/25/2018 7:05pm 24000 Civic Center Dr. (Assisted Living Apartments) Wallet containing cash, identification card, social security card, & a credit card, Victim states she left her wallet (purple wallet with a gold clasp on top) on a table in the kitchen at her Apartment Complex at approx. 6:25pm. Victim realized she did not have her wallet at approx. 7:05pm and went back to the kitchen to retrieve it. Victim was unable to find her wallet in the kitchen upon returning.

08/26/2018 2:45pm 20000 W Eight Mile Rd. (Commercial Discount Store) Beige Wallet containing victims Driver s License, Credit & Debit Cards, Social Security Card & Vehicle registration. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens that are shopping with a cart should never put their purses or wallets in their shopping cart. Always secure those items to your person so nobody can take or reach into your purse and take anything. Victim had her purse in the child seat in her cart and it was zipped close. As victim stepped away from her cart she heard someone unzip her purse. When she looked back towards her cart, a woman she had spoken to earlier was walking away from her cart. The suspect immediately left the store. Victim s wallet and contents were taken from her purse. From: 08/25/2018 5:30pm To: 08/25/2018 9:00pm 23000 Greenfield Rd. (Grocery Store) Black leather wallet containing Driver's License, Credit Cards and cash. Victim states on 08/25/2018 at approx. 5:26pm she was at the checkout at business in the 23000 Block of Greenfield Road when she took out her wallet from her purse. Victim remembers placing the wallet back into her purse once she was finished using it and walking to her vehicle with the wallet in her purse. At approx. 9:00pm on 08/25/2018, she noticed that the wallet was missing. On the morning of 08/26/2018, victim returned to the business to request assistance from the employees in locating her wallet. Although they were unsuccessful, one of the employees told her that they had recently received other reports of individuals missing their wallets while shopping at the same business. No suspect info. Tips: Ensure your vehicle is locked at all times and valuables are out of sight. Thieves wait for the right time and will move quickly Even if playing sports at a park ensure your vehicle is locked

Be on the Look Out Highlights: Assist another Department: 08/24/2018 5:00am Officers were on patrol in Ten Mile and Telegraph Rd when they were flagged down by Undercover Officers from another jurisdiction. They requested assistance with the stop and apprehension of a homicide suspect. Southfield Officers assisted these Officers and the vehicle was stopped and the suspect was taken into custody w/o incident. Special Attention: Larceny of Landscaping Equipment Recently there has been numerous Backpack Blowers and Edger s stolen from Landscaping Trucks and their Trailers while the crews were actively out working and cutting lawns. There were 3- Incidents this past week. 1) 22000 Block of Telegraph Rd. (Commercial Business) 2) Circle Dr. & W Ten Mile Rd. 3) 25000 Block of W Eight Mile Rd. (Apartment Complex) The Larceny at the Commercial Business on Telegraph Rd., victim states a Dark Green Jeep Type Vehicle pulled up next to their work truck. A tall thin black male exited the rear passenger seat of the jeep, jumped into the back of their work truck and grabbed 2- Back Pack Blowers and jumped back into the jeep. The suspect vehicle then fled S/B on Telegraph Rd. Aggravated/Felonious Assault Murder Attempt- 1- Arrest 08/24/2018 19:27pm 23000 Block of Civic Center (Apartments) On Friday, August 24, 2018 at approximately 10:27 pm, the Southfield Police Department responded on a report of a shooting at Apartment Complex in the 23000 Block of Civic Center Dr. Upon arrival, Officers located a 25-year old female resident of Southfield who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim stated that her boyfriend shot her following an argument. The Southfield Fire Department responded and transported the shooting victim to an area hospital for treatment. She was listed in temporary serious condition with non-life-threatening injuries. The Southfield Detective Bureau responded to the scene and the investigation is ongoing. On 08/25/2018, at approx. 12:41pm, Southfield Dispatch received a 911 call from the suspect. The suspect stated that he wanted to turn himself into the police. Southfield Officers responded to the location where the suspect stated he would be and the suspect was taken into custody w/o incident.

Special Attention: Larceny from Vehicles How to prevent this from happening to you! -Citizens should never leave anything of value inside their vehicle. (Especially Handguns, Purses, Wallets, Cash & Cell Phones!) - If you have a garage you should park your vehicle in the garage and lock the garage. - Wheel Locks are a deterrent but don t leave the wheel lock key in the interior of your vehicle, especially the center console or glove box. This is the first place they will look for the wheel lock. Possession of Marijuana- 1- Arrest 08/20/2018 1:37am Greenfield Rd. & W Lincoln Dr. Officer stopped vehicle for Traffic Violation. After contacting the driver Officer immediately could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. The driver made admissions that there was a blunt in the ash tray and he didn t have a marijuana card. A search of the vehicle by Officer led to the recovery of suspected marijuana from the interior of the vehicle. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested a sample of the suspected marijuana. The result was positive for possible presence of marijuana. The suspect was taken into custody w/o incident. -After parking your vehicle turn your wheels all the way to the right or the left. This will make it difficult to get the lug nuts off the front wheels. -If you don t have a garage, try to park your vehicle as close to your residence as possible. -If you here any loud noises near where your vehicle is parked, especially during the late night or early morning hours, attempt to look outside without alerting anyone and if someone is tampering with your vehicle immediately call 911, (Do Not Approach or Scare the Suspects Away) give Police Dispatchers as much information about the suspect(s) and

suspect vehicles as you can. Stay on the phone with Dispatchers until the Police arrive. -Lots of lighting around the area(s) that you park your vehicles is also very beneficial. Criminals don t like to work in well lighted areas. They prefer to work in darkness because it s difficult to see them. F/A & CCW- 1- Arrest 08/22/2018 2:53am 27000 Block of Franklin Rd. (Apartments) Victim states he and another associate that lives at Apartment Complex in the 27000 Block of Franklin Rd. were sitting out in the commons area at a picnic table. The two were kidding each other about their weight. At some point during the conversation the conversation got heated and one of the subjects was observed to pull out a pocket knife and threaten the other subject with the knife. Witnesses convinced the two combatants to calm down and the suspect with the knife went back to his apartment building. The suspect was located by security. Security recovered the knife and stayed with suspect until police arrived. Officers arrived on scene, conducted their investigation and took suspect into custody for F/A & CCW.

Special Attention: Larceny of Packages that were ordered and delivered via Common Carrier. How to prevent this from happening to you! Recently several citizens have had packages that were delivered to their residences and apartments stolen prior to them retrieving the packages. Citizens can prevent this from happening by scheduling a specific time to have the package delivered and be waiting for the package. Citizen can also schedule the package to be picked up by themselves at the common carrier facility. PWID Marijuana/ Disorderly Conduct/ Possession of Methamphetamine/ Possession of Prescription Drugs- 2- Arrests 08/22/2018 8:49pm 21000 Block of Northwestern Hwy. (Northland Bus Stop) Officer observed subjects actively rolling dice and exchanging money near the Northland Bus Stop. Officers made contact with the two suspects and investigated further. One of the suspects was found to have a prescription bottle containing Narcotic Pills in a prescription bottle with the owner s name scratched off as well as a large sum of US currency in his sock. The subject also had a white powdery substance on his person that was later identified as Methamphetamine. This subject was taken into custody for Poss. of Methamphetamine, Disorderly Conduct, Poss. of Prescription Drugs & Gambling. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested a sample of the substance which showed the presence of methamphetamine. Officers also arrested the second subject for PWID Marijuana/ Disorderly Conduct & Gambling. He was searched incident to arrest and found to have a large sandwich bag in his left front pocket as well as 3 dice on his person. The subjects backpack was found to have a small black scale, 1 sandwich baggie containing marijuana, a large glass jar the size of mason jar containing suspected marijuana and a box of sandwich baggies for packaging. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested a sample of the suspected marijuana. The result was positive for possible presence of marijuana.
