MOSMAN HIGH SCHOOL Choir, Concert Band, Jazz Band 2019 UK TOUR 13 th 27 th April, 2019 (subject to change) As of: 6 th April, 2018 DAY ONE: Saturday, April 13, 2019 SYDNEY DEPARTURE (meals/movies en route) Arrive at Sydney International Airport and check in for your flight to the UK. After checking in your luggage, move through security onto departure gate. Now is a good time for a light snack or for some duty-free shopping! Depart for Sydney to London. DAY TWO: Sunday, April 14, 2019 - LONDON ARRIVAL (D) Morning Arrive into London Heathrow Airport. Pass through immigration & customs and collect your luggage. Meet your tour manager who will stay with you throughout the tour and board your coach. Transfer to Windsor Castle where you will enjoy a visit. Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. It is open to visitors all year round. Founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it has since been the home of 39 monarchs. Today The Queen spends most of her private weekends at the Castle. Lunch in chaperoned groups (own cost) in the local area After lunch, enjoy a guided city tour of London. See the city highlights such as Buckingham Palace, Marble Arch, Big Ben, London Eye, Trafalgar Square, Harrods, Tower Bridge, Westminster Abbey and St. Paul s Cathedral. Transfer to your hotel and some time to freshen up. Welcome dinner as a group at a local restaurant and the rest of the evening is free to catch up on some much-needed sleep.
DAY THREE: Monday, April 15, 2019 LONDON (B,D) Workshop & Performance After breakfast, board the coach and visit the Tower of London Here you will walk through history from William the Conqueror to Elizabeth, admire the Crown Jewels, see the arsenal and learn about why most of the historical beheadings took place here at this most infamous former prison of London. Lunch in chaperoned groups (own cost) in the local area, then board the coach and transfer to a venue for the following activities: CONCERT BAND: Workshop by a musician from the London Philharmonic Orchestra or London Symphony Orchestra (subject to availability). CHOIR: Workshop by renowned choral musician (possibly Simon Halsey) (TBC). performance at St John s Smith Square or similar (TBC) for Jazz Band, Concert Band and Choir (please note concert total length should be about 1.5-2 hours including stage change). Dinner as a group and then return to the hotel. DAY FOUR: Tuesday, April 16, 2019 LONDON (B,D) Exchange Performance or attend rehearsal After breakfast, enjoy a visit to the British Museum. The country's largest museum and one of the oldest and finest in the world, this famous museum boasts vast Egyptian, Etruscan, Greek, Roman, European and Middle Eastern galleries, among others. Lunch in chaperoned groups (own cost). ALL: In the afternoon, enjoy an exchange with the Langley Park School for boys or with the Music College of the University of West London (TBC). Or, possibly attend a rehearsal of the London Symphony Orchestra or London Philharmonic Orchestra (TBC subject to schedule). Early dinner as a group before attending a West End Musical in the evening. Following the musical, return to your hotel.
DAY FIVE: Wednesday, April 17, 2019 LONDON STRATFORD UPON AVON MANCHESTER (B,D) - Performance After breakfast check out of your hotel, board your coach and transfer to Stratford Upon Avon and enjoy a visit at Shakespeare s birthplace. Set behind a modern facade, the house has restored Tudor rooms, live presentations from famous Shakespearean characters, and an engaging exhibition on Stratford's favourite son. Lunch in chaperoned groups (own cost). CHOIR: Possible lunch time Performance for the choir at the Holy Trinity Church (pending approval). After the performance, board the coach and continue onto Manchester and check into your hotel. Dinner as a group in a local restaurant. JAZZ BAND: Jazz Exchange Performance in collaboration with the Manchester Youth Jazz Foundation (TBC). DAY SIX: Thursday, April 18, 2019 MANCHESTER (B,D) Workshop & Performance ALL: After breakfast breakfast board the coach and transfer to Northern Wales Llandudno/Conwy area where you will enjoy a lecture on the history of the Welsh men s choirs and Workshop for the choir. Lunch in chaperoned groups (own cost) in the local area. After lunch, return to Manchester and some time to explore the local area in chaperoned groups. Dinner as a group in a local restaurant. ALL: After dinner Performance at the Stoller Hall or Stockport town hall (or similar) with another local ensemble.
DAY SEVEN: Friday, April 19, 2019 MANCHESTER HARROGATE (B,D) Workshop CONCERT BAND: After breakfast, workshop with Clark Rundell or Mark Heron (all Professors at the Royal Northern College of Music - please note this is subject to availability due to Easter holidays). Lunch in chaperoned groups (own cost) in the local area. After lunch, board the coach and depart for Harrogate to participate in the Harrogate International Youth festival. Adults attend the opening reception of the festival. Dinner as a group as part of the festival and accommodation at boarding schools together with the other international youth groups. DAY EIGHT: Saturday, April 20, 2019 HARROGATE (B,L,D) Festival Activities Todays activities will be determined by the Festival Organisers but the likely inclusions today would be: Festival parade through Harrogate Town center. Lunch included as a group as part of the festival. Performances at the Victoria shopping Centre Piazza. Grand opening concert at the Royal Hall Harrogate (most likely A Performance for the Concert Band details to be confirmed) Dinner as a group as part of the festival.
DAY NINE: Sunday, April 21, 2019 HAROGATE (B,L,D) Festival Activities Todays activities will be determined by the Festival Organisers but the likely inclusions today would be: Performance opportunities for participating ensembles. Rehearsals in Ripon for the choral and strings Concert. Dinner as a group as part of the festival. CHOIR: Performance at Ripon Cathedral as part of the festival choral and strings concert.
DAY ELEVEN: Tuesday, April 23, 2019 HARROGATE EDINBURGH (B,D) Exchange Performance After breakfast, board the coach and transfer to Edinburgh. Lunch in chaperoned groups in the local area (own cost). ALL: After lunch, enjoy a visit of the Edinburgh Academy or the James Gillespie s High School OR St Augustine s School for an Exchange Performance OR lunchtime Performance at the St Giles Church in Edinburgh (TBC). Dinner as a group at a local restaurant. DAY TWELVE: Wednesday, April 24, 2019 EDINBURGH (B, D) Workshop & Performance After breakfast, enjoy a guided City Tour of Edinburgh. Lunch in chaperoned groups in the local area (own cost). ALL: Enjoy workshops with one of the teachers from the Edinburgh Academy or the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (inc. Junior Conservatoire). Dinner as a group at a local restaurant. CONCERT BAND: After dinner, an Exchange Performance with the Leith Concert Band or Edinburgh Wind Orchestra at The Hub (or similar). DAY THIRTEEN: Thursday, April 25, 2019 EDINBURGH (B, D) Performance Morning Breakfast as a group at the hotel. After breakfast, enjoy a visit to Edinburgh Castle. CHOIR: Performance for the Choir at the castle (subject to permission). Lunch in chaperoned groups in the local area (own cost). After lunch, possible Performance in conjunction with the Australian Embassy in Edinburgh to commemorate ANZAC Day (TBC). Afterwards, some time in chaperoned groups to enjoy some last minute shopping in Edinburgh. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner as a group at a local restaurant with a bagpiper.

Performances: All Performances will be given, however the location and timings of these performances may alter pending availability of venues etc. For the impromptu performance, no formal arrangements will be made, this is an ad hoc performance by the group at this venue. Availability / Ground Costs: are based on 2019 prices. This quote is subject to availability of accommodation and vehicles at the time of booking. Agreement: once this tour has been deposited on, Mosman High School acknowledges the costs, inclusions/exclusions and Payment/Cancellation Schedule as shown on this proposal. Numbers: World Projects reserves the right to recost the tour, should the numbers fall outside those quoted above.
