Expert guides will enthral you with their encyclopaedic knowledge of Luangwa s flora and fauna. Norman Carr was the original pioneer of walking safaris in South Luangwa and this activity for many is the draw to this pristine wilderness. Nevertheless, exciting day and night game drives are a large part of discovering what this park has to offer. A relatively undeveloped national park and the youngest in the country, the Lower Zambezi lies across the river from Zimbabwe s Mana Pools, and together they form a massive wildlife sanctuary. Bigger mammals, predators, elephant herds and plains game are attracted to the valley and game viewing is particularly good during the winter months (June September). Crocodiles and hippo dominate the waters, and along the Zambezi banks, the canopy of ebony and fig trees are alive with the constant movement and calls of numerous avian species. Summer offers avid birders sightings of the Narina Trogon and an array of brightly coloured birds and the area is known for its superb birding. Although not a Big Five destination (no rhino) the Lower Zambezi National Park offers an exceptional safari experience, with walking safaris, fantastic tiger fishing, game drives, canoeing and sunset boat safaris adding to the allure. Simple, but wonderfully maintained, the chalets are well sized and include large honeymoon size beds, an indoor Victorian-style bath with a river view and open air but private outdoor facilities featuring flush WC, basin and shower. The beautiful central chitenje (lounge) is built around one of the old fallen ebony trees, open-sided and thatched. Brunch is taken in the shady lounge and dinner is more often served on the river bank under the stars. The camp also boasts a small plunge pool under thatch in the camps communal area, also under thatch. Chiawa Camp At Chiawa Camp no effort has been spared to provide guests with a truly luxurious, authentic safari experience in the nine superior tents. The main camp areas are constructed mainly of natural materials comprising of a large open bar and lounge that overlooks the Zambezi River, an elevated observation deck above the lounge with a telescope, a separate dining area, an outdoor boma for starlit evenings and a swimming pool with sun loungers. The Camp has a great record for consistently superb game viewing from 4x4 vehicles, on foot and on boat safaris on the Zambezi. page 3/5
Sindabezi Island Sindabezi is a top eco lodge and has only five open-sided thatched cottages on wooden decks, allowing guests to soak up the sights and sounds of the African bush in the perfect, pristine setting. Sindabezi has zero grid dependence, so rooms are romantically lit with hurricane lamps, candles and starlight. Despite its remote island setting, the chalets are luxuriously comfortable with king size beds, white cotton linen, mosquito nets, plush carpets, ensuite bathrooms with vanity table, free-standing bath and shower, and a private deck from which to soak up the birds and wildlife. Sindabezi is located some 15 kms upstream from Victoria Falls. Access to the Falls is from the Zambian Side at Livingstone, a journey of about one hour. Activities in this peaceful haven include river cruises, guided walks and fishing trips. Reviews & Feedback I am so glad I booked this visit to Zambia with you, it was a 5 star visit. The rhino encounter at Victoria Falls was an out of this world experience. I've been on many safaris but have never met anyone who, on foot, has been that close to a wild rhino! I honestly have no complaints and can think of nothing they, the staff, could add to or have done that would have improved the quality or enjoyment of my visit. I would like to say when I booked with you I felt it was a bit pricey, however, it turned out to be great value for the money. Thank you for organizing this visit for me. Graham - Glamorgan Thank you for organizing this fabulous safari holiday at Victoria Falls & Kafue National Park, Zambia. Everything went like clockwork with no hiccups with any of the transfers. The Lusaka Hotel was extremely posh and Isaac picked me up on time with a long drive to Kafue Camp of Mayukuyuku. Lovely location by the river with a choice of walking or game drives. There were even two lioness hanging around the campsite and they killed a puku and ate it there and then. The two other camps of Konkamoya and Nanzhila were both a wonderful experience, with luxurious tented accommodation, great game viewing, gourmet food and lively conversation with other visitors. Fabulous holiday, wonderful people, beautiful country. Thank you Big 5 Safaris. Peter - Manchester Price per person: From 5,590 What's Included?
