About Australasian Mine Safety Journal Australasian Mine Safety Journal (AMSJ) is the only independent publication in Australia specifically targeting safety professionals in our country s burgeoning resources sector. Leading resources companies such as BHP and Rio Tinto claim safety is their number one priority, and with mining continually growing in this country, AMSJ fills a very specific need in the marketplace. The magazine covers latest industry news and trends as well as updates on government legislation and world s best practice. The magazine also features interviews with leading experts, independent commentary, research papers and the latest in innovations from around the world. The demographic of our readership is predominantly male, high income earners ($100k+), in the 25 55 year age bracket. Over 70% are parents and either are, or have been, in a marriage, or committed relationship. With families to support, getting home safely at the end of a shift is important to them. With more and more mines opting for a fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) workforce, our readers live all over the country. Some still live in remote and rural areas, in the small mining towns first established by mining companies in the 1970s. Others, such as FIFO workers and high level managers and CEOs, live in the more affluent suburbs of our capital cities. Many more again live in large regional centres that service the mines located inland. Our readers work very long hours, often in harsh conditions, but also enjoy more leisure time than the average worker as well as a larger disposable income. We have mine safety covered!
