WELCOME PACKET Welcome to! Seasons What to Bring/What Not to Bring Living at the ISM Residence Hall (Refer to the Residential Student Manual) Orientation Schedule Immunization Requirements Helpful information you should know as you plan your travels to. 2015-16 Arrival Dates: New students check in on August 14-18 New Student Orientation August 19-20-21. WELCOME TO MINNESOTA! (ISM) is located in the southwest corner of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area in the city of Eden Prairie,. ISM s beautiful 55-acre, lakefront campus is located at the intersection of I-494 and Hwy 62. ISM is nestled in the Three Rivers Park District with parks and trails nearby. It is a short distance to many of s beautiful lakes and beaches for warm weather enjoyment and not far from some of Minneapolis s ski and snowboard hills for winter fun. city of Eden Prairie offers the conveniences of any major city for shopping, restaurants, access to major freeways, theaters, and more.

WHAT TO BRING ISM Residence Hall rooms are equipped with a bed, desk, chair, drawers and a wardrobe. SUGGESTED ITEMS TO PACK: CLOTHES Casual, comfortable clothes such as shorts, jeans, and long and short sleeved, collared shirts are recommended. Please bring clothes for warm and cold weather. Clothing such as t-shirts, shorts, flip-flop sandals may be worn on weekends in the summer. During school students must wear the ISM uniform. details of the uniform policy are described in the ISM Student Handbook. OUTERWEAR Raincoat, medium-weight jacket, sweaters, sweat shirt, sweat pants. Winter clothing: the outside temperature will be very cold in the winter. You will need a heavy coat, boots, hat, gloves and scarf. FOOTWEAR Walking shoes, tennis shoes, school shoes, dress shoes and hiking boots UNDERGARMENTS Socks, swim suit, pajamas, housecoat or robe PERSONAL HYGIENE Toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, hairbrush, lotions, sunscreen, spare contact lenses (if needed), sunglasses, etc ACADEMIC SUPPLIES Pens, pencils, paper, calculator, computer Packaged School supplies available for purchase OTHER Cell phone, camera, alarm clock, personal computer SPORTING EQUIPMENT If you have interest in a particular sport that requires specialized equipment (tennis, golf, etc), please bring these items. VITAMINS & MEDICATIONS All types of medication or health supplements MUST be reported to the Residence Hall Supervisor.

What NOT to bring: possession or use of electrical appliances that contain heating elements - such as hot plates or pots, rice cookers, heating coils, popcorn poppers, toasters, toaster ovens, coffee makers, halogen lamps, immersion coils, George Foreman type grills, space heaters, sun lamps, power tools and irons - is considered unsafe and is not allowed. Please note that illegal appliances will be confiscated and not returned. Matches, lighters, magic coal, candles, camp stoves, lanterns, hurricane lamps, incense, or any other items with open flames are not permitted. Electric blankets and string lights are not allowed. Heating pads may be used only at the instruction of the Health Center and must not remain on when not in use. Extension cords are not allowed. Surge protector power strips are available for purchase from Residence Hall staff. Please refer to the Residential Student Manual for further information. OPTIONS ON HOW TO BRING THINGS SHIP BOXES OF PERSONAL BELONGINGS TO: Student Name Residence Hall 6345 Beach Road Eden Prairie, MN 55344 SHOP AFTER YOU ARRIVE: Students will have many opportunities to visit local shopping centers. Many students will find it more convenient to buy items such as personal hygiene items after arriving to school. Wal-Mart and Target are two local stores that carry a large variety of essential items to purchase. LIVING AT THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MINNESOTA RESIDENCE HALL Welcome to! We are excited to have you join our school. Living in the Residence Hall will be a lot of fun but comes with big responsibility. Please read the Residential Student Manual thoroughly before arriving at the ISM Residence Hall.
