Trip Participation and Group Activities All trip activities are operated by properly trained and qualified professional personnel. They are commercially run tourist activities. If you wish that your son/daughter does not participate in any particular activity then please indicate. Payment Instructions and Refund Policy Payment needs to be made in full by Monday August 22, 2016. (ISENZ) Account number: 02 0727 0008636 00 SWIFT Code: BKNZ NZ22 IBAN Number: BNZ does not use an IBAN Number Method of payment: Payment is best made by electronic transfer direct from your parent s bank into the ISENZ account: If remitting in this way, a bank charge of $20 should be added as BNZ will deduct this at the New Zealand end. $20 needs to be added to the trip cost for overseas payments. Alternatively, your parents can remit payment to your personal NZ bank account if you open one and you can then ask your bank to transfer the amount to the ISENZ account. Banks can also give you a bank cheque made out to ISENZ Ltd. Some students withdraw cash using a foreign credit card and then pay the cash into the ISENZ account at any BNZ bank when in NZ. This can be mailed. Payment by credit card is not an option. Flight costs and extra accommodation: Connecting flights or travel costs should be added to the trip cost if ISENZ has arranged domestic flights or travel on your behalf. There is a $10 charge for ISENZ to book flights and travel on your behalf. ISENZ can arrange extra supervised accommodation at either end of the trip if required, for $40 per night. Optional activity costs are paid for at the time and should not be remitted to ISENZ. Identifying your payment: If transferring money electronically, please make sure that you ask your bank to identify the payment with your name (the student s name). That is the only way that I can tell that a payment came from you and not another student. Refund policy: Any person withdrawing prior to August 23 will receive a full refund of any money paid. Withdrawal after this date but before September 01 will incur the loss of a $200 administration fee. The balance will be returned. Students withdrawing after September 01 will forfeit $500. The balance will be returned. This is to cover prepaid accommodation, vehicle hire and overhead charges. If for any reason the trip is cancelled by ISENZ a full refund will be made. Trip Itinerary Day 1: Wellington, Taupo Trip starts in Wellington. We all meet at Downtown Backpackers which is opposite Wellington Railway Station (between 11.00am and 11.30am). Travel north and up through the volcanic plateau and pass NZ s largest active volcano, Mt Ruapehu. Travel on to Taupo and bathe in the luxury of Taupo s de Brett s outdoor hot pools. Stay over-night in Taupo at the Taupo Top 10 Holiday Park. Taupo sits on the edge of a Caldera - a huge volcanic crater more than 100km in circumference and the site of the world s largest volcanic eruption in the last 5000 years. Days 2 and 3: Taupo, Rotorua Morning in Taupo. Visit the Huka falls. The Huka Falls are a set of waterfalls on the Waikato River that drain Lake Taupo. Travel on to Rotorua, NZ s volcanic heartland. Stay two nights in Rotorua. Visit Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland reserve en-route to Rotorua. Wai-O-Tapu is New Zealand's most colourful geothermal attraction, and has been named Named as "One of the 20 Most Surreal Places in the World". Visit the Redwood forest. Attend an agricultural show at the Agridome and learn about sheep farming in NZ. Pet and cuddle the friendly baby lambs and other animals. Ride the gondola and luge on the hills over-looking Lake Rotorua. Visit Te Puia Thermal Reserve, see boiling mud pools and the famous Pohutu Geyser. Bathe in the natural thermal Polynesian Spa pools on the edge of Lake Rotorua. Days 4 and 5: Matamata, Tauranga, Waihi, Whitianga Visit the real Middle-Earth at the Hobbiton Movie Set near Matamata. Travel on to coastal city of Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty and the Mount (Mt.Maunganui), a very popular holiday resort. Climb Mt Maunganui and swim at the beach, if you don t mind the water being a bit cold at this time of year. See a working open cast gold mine at Waihi. Travel to Whitianga on the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula. Stay two nights in Whitianga. Visit Hot Water Beach. Dig in the sand and natural thermal hot spring water will bubble up from deep within the earth allowing you to create your own natural spa pool. View spectacular coastal scenery during the walk to Cathedral Cove. There may be some time for optional activities in the afternoon. Day 6: Coromandel, Auckland, Orewa Visit the old gold town of Coromandel Travel on to Auckland. Spend the afternoon in downtown Auckland. Stay over-night at Orewa Top 10 Holiday Park, located right on the pristine Orewa beachfront about 30 minutes drive north of Auckland. Days 7 and 8: Paihia Travel on to the beautiful Bay of Islands. Stay two nights in Paihia. 7

Visit the Treaty House where the historic Treaty of Waitangi was signed by Maori Chiefs and representatives of Queen Victoria of England. The Treaty House is New Zealand's most-visited historic building. Take a ferry across the bay to Russell (Korarareka). This was the first European settlement in New Zealand and the original Capital of NZ. Visit Kerikeri and its orange groves. Visit The Stone Store, the oldest stone building in New Zealand. There will be opportunities to do optional activities in Paihia. eg. jet boat ride to the hole in the Rock, sailing, sky diving, kayaking in the Bay of Islands or horse-trekking. Day 9: Cape Reinga, Whatuwhiwhi Do a half daytrip to Cape Reinga, the northern tip of New Zealand. The Maori believed this to be the point of the departing spirits after death. Stay at a camping ground in Whatuwhiwhi, a beautiful little bay on the Karikari Peninsula of Northland. Day 10: Kauri Coast Travel to the Kauri Coast Holiday Park in the magnificent kauri forests of the far North. Stay over-night here. See the famous Tane Mahuta, the largest remaining Kauri tree, which began its life about 2000 years ago at the time that Christ was born. Take a guided walk in a Kauri forest at night. You may even see live kiwi in their natural habitat. Day 11: Auckland Visit the Matakohe Kauri Museum en route to Auckland. Arrive in Auckland early afternoon. Time to shop and site see in Auckland. Day 12: Napier, Hastings Travel to and visit the Waitomo Caves in the majestic King Country and continue on to Napier. Napier and Hastings are Art Deco cities rebuilt in art deco style after being destroyed in the 1931 Earthquake (magnitude 7.9). Time to explore downtown Napier during late afternoon. Continue on to Hastings. Stay over-night in Hastings at the Hastings Top 10 Holiday Park. Day 13: Hastings, Wellington Visit the world s largest mainland Gannet colony at Cape Kidnappers in the Hawkes Bay, where you can see up to 25,000 nesting seabirds Enjoy spectacular views of the Hawkes Bay from Te Mata Peak, near Hastings. Time in Hastings town centre. Return to Wellington via the Wairarapa. Visit Oriental Parade beach in Wellington and walk along the waterfront. Have a look around Wellington City by night. Stay over-night in Wellington. Day 14: Wellington Visit to Te Papa Museum. Te Papa is New Zealand's bold and innovative national museum full of interactive and 8

visitor-focused museum experiences. Drive up Mt Victoria for stunning 360-degree panoramic views of Wellington city. Weta Cave Workshop Tour. Weta Workshop is a special effects and prop company who produce award-winning effects for TV and film, such as The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film series. Visit the Beehive and Parliament Buildings. Time in Wellington city to shop and have a look around. Palmerston North and Wanganui-based students are driven back to Palmerston North. Students with connecting flights booked for tonight are taken to the airport. Students may need to consider an overnight stay in Wellington if late flights are not available. Russell will stay in downtown backpackers that night before returning to Palmerston North. Flights should not be booked prior to 7.30pm. Price: 14 days for NZ$1,880. Early-bird Special. Register and Pay before Saturday, August 20 and get $100 off the full trip price. Pay only $1,780. The activities above are included in the price (except where the term optional activity is used). The normal cost of entry to the included activities is well over $300. It would cost you over $500 to do them as an individual. I am able to get group rates. The group activites are included in the price. Other activities are optional. Parental approval is needed in writing for optional activities that involve an element of risk. eg. Horse riding, sky-diving, sailing. E2 will not allow students to bungy jump. Supervision: Russell Trethewey will be leading the group, but will have the help of adult females and other adult males as chaperones and helpers. Accommodation: Camping ground cabins, and backpacker hostel in Wellington. Students need to have a sleeping bag, a pillow and at least two towels (one for swimming). There is a laundry at every campsite. Food: All meals are included in the price. Students are divided into teams for cooking. The duty team prepares the evening meal and breakfast. Food ingredients are provided for people to make their own lunch. Cooking is led and supervised by adults. These trips are open to all students from all ISENZ schools. Students from non-isenz schools may be offered places if available. If you want to do this trip you need to register as soon as possible as places are allocated in the order in which they are received. ISENZ, E2, WYS, Bibeglo and Die Austausch Experten students are given priority places for the first two weeks. Other Trip Information ISENZ North Island Trip, September 24 - October 7, 2016 Baggage: Students may take one suit case each or a large backpack plus hand baggage. Bedding: You will need your own sleeping bag and 2 or 3 towels for personal use. Pillows and a bottom sheet are provided in cabins. Duvets or bed covers can be hired at camp sites, but if you choose this option you will need to be prepared to pay extra. Hireage is generally $5-6 per day. It is more economic to borrow a sleeping bag or to buy a cheap one for as little as $30. Clothing: Warm clothing is needed including a water-proof jacket and hat. Have at least two changes of clothing in case you get wet. Weather in September can be variable. Bring sun glasses, sunblock cream, comfortable walking shoes that are suitable for light mountain walks and sandals and shorts for warm weather, jeans and pajamas. etc.etc. Don t forget your toiletries. Consider getting Sea-Leg tablets from a pharmacy if you suffer from travel or motion sickness. Bring a swimming suit and towels for the thermal spas in Taupo and Rotorua. You may want one change of good clothing for if we go to town or eat out. Washing clothes: ISENZ will provide soap powder and pegs free. Washing machines and driers are available at camp sites but there is a charge for this. ($3-$4 per wash and per dry) Transport: We will use a coach to transport students. Passports, money and student IDs: You don t need your passport but you may need some form of student ID. I recommend that you leave your passport at home. Student IDs are needed to secure student entry charges and student transport charges so be sure that you have them. A European ID or home country ID card may be useful if you have one. Insurance: Your own insurances should cover loss and theft. Accidents are covered by ACC. Supervision: There will be one adult per 8-10 students, normally both female and male. In total we will have 5 or 6 adults on each trip. All adults have been police vetted. We provide 24 hour care / supervision. Other Trip Information (continued) Optional Activities: The trip price does not include the activities below and if you want to do these then that will be an additional personal cost payable at the event and you will require written parental permission. There is a parent permission form to complete. Most of these activities are weather dependent and so you cannot be sure that it will proceed right up until the time of the event. Flight bookings: ISENZ is prepared to make flight bookings on your behalf. We book Air NZ flights at the cheapest available at the time of booking. ISENZ can then be reimbursed for the cost of the flights when your payment is made for the trip. There is a $10 charge for this service.
