Fishawack Cubelos & Webelos Adventure Planner October 15-16 at Camp Somers & Camp Wheeler, MASR Cubelos is Pack-Family Camping at Camp Somers. On Saturday, October 15 th, each pack helps to run a station from 11:00 am 5:00 pm. Packs choose whether to cook dinner in their campsite or to eat dinner in the dining hall (different fees apply). Webelos Adventure is an optional program during Cubelos for Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts. Webelos Adventure runs from 11:00 am 5:00 pm, concurrently with Cubelos. Webelos Adventure will include fun outdoor activities like zipline, bb & archery, but also allow boys to complete some rank requirements. While the rest of the pack does Cubelos activities at Camp Somers, Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts hike to Camp Wheeler. Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts will hike back to Camp Somers to join the rest of their pack for dinner and camping. Webelos Adventure has a $5 surcharge to cover materials and supplies for boys to cook their lunch. Day trippers may participate in either Cubelos or Webelos Adventure. The pack coordinator will register all campers and day trippers. Registration: through the Fishawack Calendar at www.ppcbsa.org. One person registers all campers from their pack (including any Webelos Adventure participants and day trippers).

Fishing Bring worms camp has poles. When needed??? assist with putting worms on hooks and unhooking fish. Knots Bring ropes and know basic knots. 7 Flag Etiquette Flag raising, folding, marching. 201 Rowing Must have Safety Afloat training (available online)??? First Aid Skills Bring supplies for boys to assemble their own first 215 aid kit. Monkey Bridge Camp staff to set up large monkey bridge. Pack 6 6 will set up a smaller one and will monitor throughout the day. Registration Check in and check out process. 40 Hot Chocolate Stand Provide hot chocolate and an excuse to rest a few 179 minutes on the way to BB and archery. Bring Parking (Saturday until noon) camp stove, cups, and chocolate. 2 or 3 volunteers from 7:00 am to noon. Get cars in tight and send day trippers to separate area. 40

Webelos & AOLs- may stay at Cubelos if their pack or family prefers but are encouraged to break off for the Fishawack Webelos Adventure at Camp Wheeler instead. Webelos dens will hike to Camp Wheeler at 11:00 am and return by 5:30 pm. See appendix Webelos Adventure Planner for details. Food packs declare by Oct. 1 if they are cooking their own dinner or coming to dining hall. Packs plan their own lunch for Saturday and breakfast for Sunday. Patch should be cool. Range Master Training: W All trained range masters are needed. Packs are encouraged to send adults for Range Master training on September 10. We will try to arrange additional dates for training. Trained Range Masters can use the ranges for your own pack events. Training is valid for 2 years, so if you took it prior to October 2014, it must be renewed. Bb & archery will have assigned times. Groups will be scheduled to arrive earlier for orientation so range time is maximized. Since it is difficult to judge how long it takes to climb the hill to shooting sports, packs should allow extra time. Zipline will have assigned times also. We will ask camp for extra harnesses and helmets to speed up the line. From 8-11, will be manned by district volunteers. At 11, the assigned pack takes over.. Campfire we will arrange for camp s amplification system. Cars No cars can go up the camp road on Saturday or Sunday. One bear vehicle may be left in the site on Friday night, between 5-10 pm. It must remain in the site until Sunday checkout (approximately 10:30 am). Registration process: One leader from each pack gets headcount for campers and day trippers. A Family Response Form will be provided for the pack to collect data from families. The pack can type its own fee total on the form if you wish to collect for other expenses. This leader registers online for all campers from their
pack by October 6. New this year, at the request of the Cub Scout Leaders who attended our planning session, packs will also register their own day trippers. Webelos Adventure registration while registering your pack for the Cubelos, you will be asked how many Scouts and adults are participating in the Webelos Adventure. A $5 surcharge will be applied. Talent Release Agreement - The online registration will also ask you to list any family from your pack that has not signed the Talent Release Agreement on the annual health and medical record. This is so our district publicity committee can take photos during the event. Rosters - A roster must be scanned, faxed or walked into council by October 10. A form for the roster will be provided. Three hard copies of roster must be brought to check in (1 for Cubelos staff, 1 for Campmaster, 1 for pack to have with them). This is a RAIN OR SHINE event. Registering is a commitment to pay. The council s cancellation policy is below. Cabins are available - Cabins 1, 5 & 6 each sleep 12 for $100. OA lodge sleeps 28 (24 in main room and 4 in side room) for $200. Newly remodeled Cabin 4 sleeps 34 in the main room, has a side room that sleeps 4, has propane heat, outdoor kitchen area & tables for $250. All cabins, except for cabin 4, have room for a small number of tents outside. Notify Al Thomas prior to October 1 if you want a cabin (and which size). If there are not enough cabins for all who request, a lottery will be held on October 2. Allergies and Religious Dietary Restrictions Camp Somers uses no nuts in preparing meals. If your pack is eating dinner in the dining hall and there are special dietary needs, send those to Al Thomas as soon as they are known (no later than October 6). If you indicate religious restrictions, a vegetarian meal will be offered. Medical staff several EMTs will be present. If any adults attending with your pack are a doctor, nurse or EMT, please include their cell phone number on the roster. BALOO trained leader required for each pack. BALOO will be offered on Sunday, September 18 at a park in Parsippany (TBD). Other sessions may be scheduled. Register early through the council website to avoid being shut out. Other sessions of BALOO at different locations, will be on September 10, 17, 24 and October 1. Check https://ppcbsa.org/committees/training/ for registration dates. Shower House & Restrooms One pack will be assigned to check the restrooms at the shower house on an hourly basis. We should not need to say this but - Packs must ask each family to explain to their child before leaving home how to flush a toilet without clogging it. This skill will serve them well throughout their lives. Supervision We should not need to say this but - Packs should explain to families that Cub Scouts must be supervised by adults while at camp. Boys should not be allowed to wander. Campsites - We should not need to say this but Packs should instruct families to stay out of other people s campsites.
CUBELOS TIMELINE: September 9 to October 6 registration is open on council website. Stays open until October 6. One person should register all campers and day trippers from your pack. October 1 packs notify Al Thomas if they will eat dinner in the dining hall and if they want to rent a cabin. October 6 online registration closes. October 10 rosters due via scan, fax or walk in to council. Three hard copies of roster must be brought to check in (1 for Cubelos staff, 1 for Campmaster, 1 for pack to have with them). October 11 site assignments, check in times, service assignment for Sunday morning, and parking passes sent to packs. October 14 Friday night. Only a handful of folks needed to set up the pack s gear and drop off one bear vehicle should arrive on Friday. The rest of the pack arrives on Saturday. Only one vehicle allowed in to campsite. May arrive between 5-10 pm. Check in at Campmaster s Office in parking lot before driving to site. The bear vehicle must stay in the site until Sunday checkout (approximately 10:30am). A Cracker Barrel for those leaders in camp will be held at 10 pm. October 15 7:00-10:00 am each pack checks in their campers at their assigned time. Cars cannot go beyond the parking lot. Campsites are not far but a wagon can be useful. Carpooling is encouraged. Cars cannot leave until Sunday. Each family checks in at the dining hall to receive their wristband and schedule. Unit leaders bring 3 copies of roster. Also, bring medical forms in a sealed envelope (these will be returned at check out). 10:15 am day trippers may arrive. 11:00 am opening ceremony at council point. Webelos Adventure participants will be led on their hike to Camp Wheeler. 11:15 am -5:00 pm activities (BB, archery and zipline may open early for early-arriving packs. Cubelos committee will recruit extra staff.) 5:15 pm first seating in dining hall (15 minutes before meal, each pack sends 1 adult for every 12 diners to serve as waiter. October 16 8:30 am an all-faiths Scouts Own Service at Council Point 9:00-10:00 am packs notify Al Thomas when their service assignment is completed and their site is ready to be inspected (all gear packed, site policed, and campfires dead and cold to the touch). Fees: 9:30-10:30 am after site inspection, bear vehicle may leave. No vehicles may leave the site until it passes inspection. 10:30 am everyone should be out of camp. $22.50 for each Scout, adult and sibling over 6 years old who are camping, if pack is having dinner in the dining hall. Free for sibling age 6 and less. $15.00 for each Scout, adult and sibling over 6 years old who are camping, if your pack is cooking dinner in its campsite. Free for sibling age 6 and less. $22.50 for day tripper Scout, adult and sibling over 6 years old who want to have dinner in the dining hall and stay for campfire. Free for day tripper sibling ages 6 and less. $15 for day tripper Scout, adult and sibling over 6 years old who are not eating in dining hall. If your pack is cooking in the campsite and you join them for dinner, the pack may collect some fee from you. Free for day tripper sibling ages 6 and less. $5 surcharge for youth and adults participating in the Webelos Adventure. CANCELLATION POLICY In all programs offered by the Patriots Path Council, BSA, a great deal of planning and purchasing takes place well in advance. These plans include, but are not limited to, staff, food, program materials, patches and awards, rental and purchase of equipment, and in some cases, items of clothing such as T-shirts that are given as part of a program fee. When an individual or group makes a reservation for an activity or program, these items are included in ordering of materials and staffing for that event. Refunds: Individuals or groups that cancel a program reservation 30 days prior to the date of the event will receive a refund of fees paid, less a 15.50% administrative charge. No refunds will be made after the 30 day cancellation deadline, unless there is a medical or other emergency. But the Fishawack Webelos Adventure will be a great experience for these older boys and will give them a jump start on their rank requirements. Rank Requirements Plans (subject to change) are for Webelos to complete First Responder requirements 1-5, Cast Iron Chef requirements 1, 4 & 5, and Webelos Walkabout all requirements. Camping -On Saturday night, Webelos dens will hike back to Camp Somers for dinner and camping with their pack. Meals Webelos Adventure participants will cook lunch for themselves on Saturday (food provided by Webelos Adventure). Dinner will be with their pack (either in dining hall or with the pack cooking at its campsite). Sunday breakfast will be arranged by each pack in their campsite. Personal Gear Each Webelos should bring a day pack with water bottle, mess kit and pocket knife (only if they have earned Whittling Chip and have their card with them). Registration process: Registration is limited to the first 120 Webelos. Registration for the Webelos Adventure is done as part of the pack s Cubelos registration. One leader from each pack gets headcount for all who are attending Cubelos with a separate count of Webelos who are participating in the Webelos Adventure. This leader registers online for all campers from their pack by October 6. They will be asked for a count of any Webelos and adults who are participating in the Webelos Adventure. The website will calculate all fees. Fees a $5 fee will be added to the pack s registration for each Webelos and adult who are participating in the Webelos Adventure to cover lunch, trail snack and first aid kit supplies. This fee will be added onto the pack s total for Cubelos. Day trippers are registered by their pack along with campers. Arrive at Camp Somers between 10:15 11:00 am and proceed to Council Point for hike to Camp Wheeler.
Adult Supervision- each Webelos should be accompanied by his Akela. If a parent cannot attend (perhaps you have a younger boy at Cubelos), they may give another adult from their den permission to supervise their son. No adult should accept responsibility for more boys than they can manage. Evening Campfire Webelos will be with their pack for campfire at Camp Somers. Day trippers park at Camp Somers and proceed to Council Point for hike to Camp Wheeler. 11:00 Webelos (along with Webelos Leaders and Akelas) begin hike from Camp Somer s Council Point. 11:30 arrive at Camp Wheeler 11:30 1:00 Webelos prepare tin foil lunch, work on fire building and eat lunch. 1:00 5:00 rotate through stations (subject to change): First Responder A, Webelos Walkabout, First Responder B, Mountain Bike, BB, Archery, Zipline, Pitching a Tent. 5:00 hike back to Camp Somers to join their pack for dinner, campfire and camping. 5:30 once back with their pack, the timeline is the same as for Cubelos
