Library Picnic in the Park Gardens African Lion Safari Week 1: Wacky Hair Day (July 4) Today we welcome campers through a series of getting to know you games. It's also time to bust out the colored hair spray and multi coloured hair ties because it's wacky hair day! Teddy Bear Picnic (July 5) Sam Lawrence Park, Concession St, Hamilton
Bring along your furry friends and enjoy a day full of teddy bear-themed activities including a bear hunt and picnic in Sam Lawrence Park. Confederation Park (July 6) 585 Van Wagners Beach Rd, Hamilton http://conservationhamilton.ca/conservation-areas- 2/confederation-park/ What a better way to explore a conservation area than going on a scavenger hunt? Campers will work together to complete a scavenger hunt across the park. After taking a lunch break we campers will walk down the trail to Lakeland Pool where they will have the opportunity to go swimming. Confederation Park is a 93 hectare conservation area located in Hamilton on the southern shores of Lake Ontario featuring the 4.3km long Hamilton Beach Trail. Mountain Lanes Bowling (July 7) 335 Upper Wentworth Street, Hamilton On L9A 4T4 905-574-8974 www.mountainlanesbowling.ca No gutter balls here! Today we take over the lanes at Mountain Lanes for a fun filled bowling adventure. Campers will start their day at GL Armstrong and walk over to Mountain Lanes Bowling after lunch. Campers will enjoy a few rounds of bowling before heading back to our camp home base. Week 2: Jersey Day (July 11) Come dressed in your favourite team jersey and be prepared to participate in Mini Olympic Games! Pinecone Bird Feeders (July 12) The weather is nice and the animals are out and are hungry. We re going to search high and low for pinecones to make our very own bird feeders. Wild Water Works (July 13) 585 Van Wagners Beach Rd, Hamilton http://wild-waterworks.com/ We thought we d kick off our summer with a splash! Wild Water Works is the largest water park in Hamilton, complete with four body slides, two tube slides, splash pads, a lazy river, and one of Canada s largest outdoor wave pools! Campers will enjoy lunch in the shaded picnic areas before returning to the water for more swimming in the afternoon. Campers will be departing the centre at 9am and returning at approximately 5pm. Bayfront Park (July 14) Located on the south shores of Hamilton Harbour (325 Bay St. N.), we will be riding our local HSR bus to this massive outdoor park which might just be big enough for our campers to exhaust themselves running around. Eastmount Park Splash Pad (July15) 155 East 25 th St, Hamilton We are heading over to one of our old favourite camp locations to visit the splash pad and play some organized games in the park.
Week 3: Halloween in July (July 18) We ve moved Halloween up this year! This Monster Bash includes a costume contest so come dressed to impress! Mad Science (July 19) We re turning our campers into junior scientists for the day through a series of hands on experiments! Bronte Creek (July 20) 1219 Burloak Drive, Oakville https://www.ontarioparks.com/park/brontecreek What a better way to explore Bronte Creek s natural wildlife than walking the trails. Make sure to wear running shoes as our campers will be hitting the trails in search of wildlife! In the morning they will go on a hike before stopping for lunch in a picnic area. In the afternoon campers will have the opportunity to go swimming in the 1.8 acre gradual entry pool. Bronte Creek Provincial Park is located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, and is part of the Ontario Parks system. The 6.4-square-kilometre park is located at the western edge of Oakville, bordering on Burlington. Mountain Brow Hike (July 22) Strap on your running shoes because today we are off on an adventure to the best look out in the city!
Week 4: Camp s got Talent! (July 25) Everyone is a star today in our camp wide talent show. Its time to showcase your best dance moves, singing voice or magic tricks! Nature Scavenger Hunt (July 26) We are going on a hunt for natural treasures that can be used in an art project later on in the week. Lindley s Farm (July 27) 900 Fiddlers Green Rd, Ancaster http://www.lindleyfarm.com/ Our Kinder Campers are in for a treat at Lindley s Farm, which has been around for over six generations. We re excited to get a behind-the-scenes look at an actual, operating fruit farm, complete with fruit picking, and tractor rides. Wildflower Sun Catchers (July 28) Flowers, leaves, even grass! We are taking the items we found on Tuesday s scavenger hunt and turning them into beautiful sun catchers. Concession Street Public Library (July 29) We are going to stroll over to our public library to check out some exciting books for our program. Week 5: Stat Holiday Closed (August 1)
Mask Mania! (August 2) If you don t have a superhero costume for tomorrow s Superhero Day have no fear. Today we will be creating our own superhero masks. Come dressed as your favourite Superhero or create your own. Campers will have the opportunity to showcase their special powers throughout various gross motor games. Little Ray s Reptile Zoo (August 4) 869 Barton St E, Hamilton, ON L8L 3B4 www.raysreptiles.com Our campers will visit the largest and most diverse animal education and outreach programs in Canada. They will have the chance to get hands on with some of the most famous reptiles in the world. We will take the city bus to this action packed trip time to be determined. Water Play Day! (August 5) We are breaking out the sprinkler, water balloons and buckets for this water logged fun filled day!
Week 6: New Years Dance Party! (August 8) What's a New Year's Eve party without the proper hats, noisemakers and a countdown...in the middle of the year?! Up, Up & Away! (August 9) Today our campers will be using recycled materials to create their own airplanes. We will take them outside to see whose aircraft will take flight! Wild Water Works is always one of the highlights of our summer and the campers favourite, so we always make two trips. It s the same deal as the first time, only this time, we ll know exactly what water slides are the best! Gage Park & Children s Museum (August 11) We will be hopping on our local HSR bus to Gage Park and the Hamilton Children s Museum located at 1072 Main St. E. The Children s Museum invites young visitors to stretch their imagination as they touch, build and experiment in a friendly, child-focused setting. Home to interactive, hands-on galleries, the museum encourages learning through self-directed play. Water Play Day (August 15) We are breaking out the sprinkler, water balloons and buckets for this water logged fun filled day! Bring your Bike to Camp Day (August 16) Bring your bike, scooter, rollerblades or skateboard. If it has wheels, you can ride it today! Please remember to bring a helmet. Campers will have the opportunity to get up close & personal with these animals and to step back in time and tour a local fruit farmer s house from the turn of the century. In the morning they will visit the Spruce Lane Farmhouse to interact with the animals before stopping for lunch in a picnic area. In the afternoon campers will have the opportunity to go swimming in the 1.8 acre gradual entry pool. Fortino s & Cooking Experience (August 18) 65 Mall Rd, Hamilton Our campers will visit the local grocery store to shop for some treasures to cook with when they get back to their camp. Eastmount Park Splash Pad (August 19) 155 East 25 th St, Hamilton We are heading over to one of our old favourite camp locations to visit the splash pad and play some organized games in the park.
Week 8: Backwards Day (August 22) Today we walk, talk and even wear our clothes backwards! Concession Street Public Library (August 23) 565 Concession St, Hamilton http://www.hpl.ca/branches/concession-branch We are going to walk over to our public library to return the books we took out for our program. Royal Botanical Gardens (August 24) 680 Plains Rd W, Burlington https://www.rbg.ca/ Canada s largest Botanical Garden features almost 2500 acres of nature sanctuary. We ll see some of the prettiest flowers from around the world, as well as some amazing and interesting critters. We ll also learn some useful gardening tips and inspire our campers to connect with their green thumbs. Children will have the opportunity to explore the Hendrie Valley trail to feed chickadees and chipmunks. We will also explore the various gardens an play on the Natural Playground. Scavenger Hunt (August 25) We ve gotten to know our neighbourhood over the summer so today we are going on a scavenger hunt to see what we can find! Mountain Brow Hike August 26) Strap on your running shoes because today we are off on an adventure to the best look out in the city!
Week 9: Blast from the Past (August 29) We are throwing it back to previous decades with our music, dress and games today! Picnic in the Park (August 30) Sam Lawrence Park, Concession St, Hamilton Set up the picnic blanket and pack the picnic basket because we are spending the day at the park! African Lion Safari (August 31) 1386 Cooper Road, Hamilton http://www.lionsafari.com/ How often do you get to see wild animals from the African Savannah up close and personal? The African Lion Safari will put us faceto-face with some of the most fascinating and amazing animals in the world, including elephants, zebras, baboons, and, of course, lions! Campers will ride through the large game reserve in the Safari Tour Bus, take a ride on the scenic railway as well as the African Queen Boat ride. After lunch campers have the opportunity to visit Mismumu Bay, an interactive water play zone, complete with slides and plenty of splashing.
