Our Core Values are Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Inclusiveness.
Camp Information We Build Strong Kids All of our camps provide opportunities for campers to learn and grow. Campers will learn new skills, develop greater self-confidence and create memories that will last a life time. We Create a Safe and Supportive Environment We provide a healthy, safe and secure environment for all participants. We treat everyone equally, understanding the individual needs of each camper as well as the overall group. We are Committed to Quality The YMCA of Central East Ontario Day Camps are committed to maintaining the highest standard of quality care to ensure fun, safe and a memorable camp experience for all. We Build Positive Relationships At the YMCA we understand that children and youth need positive peer and adult relationships in their lives. We create a camp environment that encourages campers to develop lasting relationships with their peers. At the same time we want to develop a relationship with our camp parents. We welcome you to ask any questions and share your feedback with us. We Promote Family Involvement Camper families are invited to become part of the camp experience by participating in our Family Involvement & Appreciation Night. Join us for a family BBQ at the Erin Palmateer Pool on: Thursday, August, 23, 2018 6:00-7:30pm The YMCA Camp Staff The YMCA recognizes the tremendous impact a positive day camp experience has on the development of a child. Our camp staff are carefully selected based on experience, leadership and the ability to work with children. Our camp staff are graduates of or current university, college and senior high school students who have a personal interest in ensuring that every camper s experience is one that they will cherish and remember forever. All YMCA staff hold current Standard First Aid/CPR C certifications as well as a clear Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check. Our staff attend pre-camp training covering topics such as Healthy Child Development, Behaviour Management, Program Planning, Policies and Procedures, Camper Safety and on-site Situational Training. Sharing Community Values with Values Beads Our values help us distinguish right from wrong and provide a foundation for sound judgment and decision making. Values Beads play an important role as a sign of character and personal achievement. As a form of recognition, beads at camp promote positive behaviour, and are a constant reminder of what we value as a camp community. Throughout the week, beads are awarded to children for demonstrating YMCA Core Values and achieving success. Convenient Camp Hours: Monday Friday 7:00am-6:00pm We offer Family Discounts Family Discounts are available for the second and third child when registered in the same weeks. Day camp fees will be reduced by $5.00 per week for each additional child from the same family. We Daily Campers who wish to swim in the deep end will participate in a swim test, which consists of a foot first jump into deep water tread for 1 minute and by swim two lengths of the pool. The lengths must be supportive and complete on their front. Those who cannot pass the swim test will remain in the shallow end of the pool and will be wearing a life jacket during the recreation swim. Camp staff will remain within arms reach of those who can not swim and will provide additional safety supervision of those children who can not pass the swim test. All children will wear red or green wrist bands to indicate if they have passed the swim test or not. These bands aid the lifeguard staff in providing safety supervision during the swim. We do Theme Weeks Each week s theme will be highlighted through games, crafts and songs. Dress up day will be on Fridays each week.
