If yu have any additinal questins r cncerns, please cntact yur instructr. Depending n which camp yur child is attending, there may be slightly different prcedures. Hwever, this guide is intended t present yu with as much infrmatin as pssible t best prepare everyne fr camp. What will my child d at Camp? Each camper will participate in training events geared twards enhancing their Tang S D educatin. Hur-lng clinics ccur thrughut the camp and range frm clinics n hyung (frms) as learned in class at yur lcal djang t specialty clinics n things such as swrd ne-steps r escrima sticks. The specialty clinics vary frm year t year s campers shuld cnsult the registratin frm fr this year s planned activities. Each camper will als participate in lectures designed t augment their understanding f the Cde f Cnduct f a Black Belt, the annual camp theme and the gals f Tang S D betterment f ne s mind, bdy and spirit. On Saturday, ne f the sessins is a break-ut where the campers may chse an athletic activity in which t participate. The inclusin f such nn-martial arts activities is designed t let the campers relax, have fun and learn t wrk as a team. Each camper will have a limited amunt f free time t scialize with the ther campers and get t knw students frm ther djangs. Each day starts early at 7:00 am; curfew is at 10:45 pm each evening with lights ut at 11:00 pm. In between, campers will enjy the clinics with caring, well-qualified instructrs. Cnduct at Camp We wrk t maintain an atmsphere f mutual caring, respect and understanding at camp. Prper participatin and cnduct by each camper is expected and includes, but is nt limited t the fllwing rules: Respect thers feelings and prperty Cperate with each ther Listen t yur cunselrs and instructrs Stay with yur cabin buddy/buddies N fighting, yelling r cursing Tell a cunselr if smene/smething is bthering r upsetting yu Clean up after yurself Please discuss and reinfrce these behaviral expectatins with yur child. Cunselrs and instructrs supervise all activities. Cnflicts and prblems are rare. Behaviral redirectin is seen as an pprtunity fr learning and apprached accrdingly. Hwever, if a camper cntinually disrupts the prgram r pses a safety risk t himself/herself r thers, the WTSD reserves the right t suspend and/r dismiss the camper frm the camp withut reimbursement. In such case, the parent will be ntified t pick the child up within an apprpriate amunt f time t remve said child frm the camp. -1-

Weather Cnditins Weather can be unpredictable. Evenings may be cl. Each camper shuld have warm clthes and heavy enugh sleeping equipment t allw fr cl evenings. lternatively, in warmer weather, campers shuld be prepared with light clthes (and maybe even a fan) as the cabins are nt air-cnditined. dditinally, an extra change f clthes and extra dbhk is a gd idea in case f rain. ctivities will take place rain r shine. While every effrt will be made t keep the students dry, a sudden rain clud culd make fr a wet camper. In such a case, an extra change f clthes is recmmended. Medical Infrmatin Each camp has an infirmary and medical staff n site in case f an injury r emergency. Each parent is required t: (1) nte any special medical infrmatin n the camp applicatin; (2) prvide insurance infrmatin; (3) sign the waiver. The prvisin f insurance infrmatin is required in the rare event that a camper needs medical attentin beynd that which is prvided n site. In such an event, the camper s wn insurance infrmatin will be prvided t the care prvider. Each camper wh uses any medicatin, prescriptin r nn-prescriptin, must ensure that they bring enugh t camp fr their entire stay. ll medicatins must be in their riginal cntainers. ll campers taking any medicatin must ntify their cabin cunselr immediately upn arrival at camp. (This infrmatin will be taken frm the camper s applicatin and put n the list given t the cunselr). While at camp, medicatins will be held and dispensed by either the cunselr r medical staff; parents shuld specify their preference. Individual campers may hld emergency medicatins, such as heart medicatin, inhalers and bee sting pens after the cabin cunselr is ntified f such a need. Please als nte n the camp applicatin if yur camper has any allergies. If yur camper has a fd allergy, arrangements can be made with the dining staff with advance ntice. If yur child has fd allergies, please prvide a list f what yur camper can eat, as well as a list f what yur camper cannt eat, alng with the camp applicatins. Remember in rder t ensure that each cunselr and instructr is familiar with yur camper s medical requirements all imprtant infrmatin must be disclsed n the camp applicatin. The WTSD des nt carry medical insurance fr campers while attending camp. Please review yur wn health insurance plan t be certain that yur child has prper cverage. In the event yur child needs medical assistance frm a medical facility, yu and yur medical insurance prvider will be respnsible fr such csts. Feel free t make sure yur child has a cpy f prf f insurance while camp fr the weekend. In the event f illness r injury where the child cannt cntinue t participate in the weekend s events, the parent will be ntified t pick up the child within a reasnable amunt f time. Camp Infrmatin Yur child (studi) will be assigned t ne f the fllwing camps. ualificatins f Cunselrs and Instructrs In rder t teach in the Wrld Tang S D ssciatin, instructrs are required t pass an Instructr s Certificatin prgram. Furthermre, instructrs participate in regularly scheduled instructr classes, training camps and seminars. Studi and club wners are als required t underg a criminal backgrund check and child abuse clearance. Each studi and club wner must submit a cpy f their criminal backgrund check (and child abuse clearance if it is a separate prcess in their state) frm their state f primary residence 60 days befre the start f camp. This allws the WTSD t review the backgrund infrmatin prvided. Studi wners wh have incidents in their backgrund that wuld impact their ability t prvide a safe envirnment fr yur child will nt be permitted t attend a yuth camp. Registratin and Fees s stated in the camp applicatin, all campers must be registered by the deadlines nted n the applicatin. Please fllw the directins n the applicatin t ensure yur child is registered prperly. The fees include ldging and the fllwing meals: Friday dinner; Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner; Sunday breakfast, lunch. Parents are invited t a BB lunch n Sunday fr an additinal charge and must register and pre-pay n the applicatin. Frequently sked uestins Why des my child have t lse a day f regular schl t attend this weekend? Being a Black Belt in the WTSD is an imprtant respnsibility. We ask that yu reprt t yur child s schl that they need a half-day ff fr this imprtant camp. This is the nly way we can train yur children t be black belts bth technically and mentally. The challenge f this effrt will enhance yur child s curage, pride and cnfidence. There are ver 1,000 yuths in a tw-weekend curse wh will attend this event. This is nly asked f yur children nce per year, and it is a very imprtant part f their training t achieve their gal f Black Belt. What des my child need t bring? Yur child needs all tiletries and clthing fr a weekend away frm hme. Campers will als need all unifrms (dbhks) and equipment fr a weekend f martial arts training. Campers need t bring sleeping equipment (sheets, blankets, sleeping bags, pillws, etc.) fr use in the cabins. suggested checklist f items t bring is included at the end f this guide. What if my child frgets t bring smething? Instructrs/cunselrs and ther campers can usually prvide extras f mst items. Hwever, each camper shuld take care t use a checklist when preparing fr camp t make sure they remember items that are specific and particular t each camper. What time d I drp ff my child? -3-

Drp-ff and check-in is between 4 and 6 pm. Dinner service begins at 5:30 pm. Yu shuld plan t bring yur child int camp and drp him/her ff at the designated drp ff pint where a cunselr will check each camper in and escrt him/her t his/her cabin t begin the weekend. ny questins r cncerns shuld be addressed t the cunselr at the check-in pint. What day is camp ver? What time d I pick up my child? Camp is ver n Sunday. Parents are respnsible fr picking up their wn child r ensuring that they have arranged fr a ride hme with anther camper. ll parents (friend and ther relatives t) are invited t the Graduatin Ceremny that is held Sunday mrning. Campers may leave as early as the cmpletin f the Graduatin Ceremny (which typically begins at 11 am and is cmpleted arund 12 pm), but they shuld be picked up n later than 2:30 pm. ny child nt picked up by 3:00 pm will be taken t the lcal plice statin by camp staff. What if I am running late t pick up my child? If fr sme reasn yu are running late and cannt make alternative arrangements fr yur child t be picked up n time, yu must: 1. Call the Camp Directr fr yur child s camp t alert the staff that yu will be late: Saginaw Master Gdwin 302-367-7100; Green Lane Master Vaughn 610-955-9418. 2. Prvide an estimate as t hw late yu will be s that prper arrangements may be made. 3. If yu are able t reach yur child (they have a cell phne with them at camp), please call them t let them knw and have them infrm their cunselr. 4. Be prepared t pick up yur child at an alternate lcatin such as the lcal plice statin r ther lcatin as directed by the camp staff. My child is getting prmted n Sunday. May we and ther family members attend? Family and friends are welcme t the Graduatin Ceremny. In fact, the presence f family and friends makes the ceremny mre enjyable fr each camper. The ceremny begins arund 11 am s yu shuld arrive arund 10:30 am s that yu have time t park and get a seat. There is n limit n the number f family members wh may attend. Phtgraphs are permitted. What qualificatins d the Instructrs and Cunselrs have? ll instructrs are certified WTSD instructrs. ll instructrs and cunselrs are required t submit a criminal backgrund check t the WTSD prir t acceptance as an instructr r cunselr. Vlunteers wh have questinable backgrunds that might impact the ability t prvide yur child with a safe envirnment will nt be accepted as instructrs r cunselrs. What d I d if my child has special needs (medical, dietary)? Please nte n the camp applicatin any special needs, including the need fr medicatin, special medical attentin r dietary restrictins. In the case f dietary restrictins, please prvide bth what yur child can and cannt cnsume in advance with the camp applicatin. -4-

Hw can I get in tuch with my child in case f an emergency? If yur child has a cell phne with them at camp, feel free t call them. ls, please alert the camp staff at the emergency cntact number prvided in this manual and/r the camp applicatin. Hw can my child get in tuch with me in case f an emergency? If yur child has a cell phne with them, they will be free t call yu. ls, as part f the camp applicatin, yu are required t prvide cntact infrmatin. In the case f an emergency camp staff will call yu at the number(s) listed n the applicatin. What medical infrmatin d I need t prvide? s mentined earlier, please list any infrmatin that might impact the way a staff member shuld treat yur child in a medical emergency. This includes medical cnditins and/r disrders, prescriptin and nn-prescriptin medicatins taken, allergies, and any ther infrmatin yu believe is imprtant. What if my child gets sick/injured? Each camp has medical persnnel n lcatin. In the event f a minr injury (scraped knees, etc.) where treatment can be administered by such staff, it will be administered and yu may be ntified by telephne. In the event f a mre severe incident requiring additinal attentin, apprpriate medical staff at a lcal hspital r treatment center will see t yur child. What if the weather is bad? Mst activities take place rain r shine. There are indr facilities t accmmdate mst activities in the event f rain. While bad weather may cause the schedule t be mdified, yur child shuld be prepared fr any weather event. Rain gear, additin changes f clthes, clthes fr warm and cl weather shuld all be included in what yur child brings t camp. What is the drp ff and pick up prcedure? Check in: s mentined previusly, there will be a check-in pint at each camp. Campers will be drpped ff at this central pint and will be checked in by an instructr/cunselr. Parents shuld raise any cncerns with the instructrs/cunselrs at the check-in pint. fter drpping yur child ff at the check-in pint, yu will be directed t the camp exit. The cunselrs will escrt campers t their cabins t get settled, meet their cabin mates and head t dinner. Pick Up: If yu are n site fr the graduatin, yur child shuld bring all materials t yur car in the parking area. If yu d nt attend graduatin, yur child can be picked up at the same lcatin where they were checked in n Friday. Be sure they are aware that they must carry all their wn equipment t and frm the cabin. What are the sleeping quarters like? ll cabins are wd structure with bathrm and shwer facilities. Each cabin will have between 10 and 16 campers and tw cunselrs. ll will sleep n bunk beds. Please see the applicable camp website fr pht infrmatin n each camp. -5-

re there cunselrs and instructrs n duty at all times? Yes. Frm the mment check in starts until yur child is picked up, the cunselrs and instructrs are n duty. They will be with the campers during meals, activities and during the night. During the evening free time, there are cunselrs and instructrs statined thrughut the camp t prvide supervisin t campers as well as patrlling the entire camp. Camp staff is als n site and n duty the entire weekend t assist the WTSD instructrs, cunselrs and campers. Shuld I prvide my child with fd/drinks t bring? Meals will be prvided by the camp. Hwever, campers may enjy having a few snacks between activities and in the evening. s the activities are all athletic in nature, it is recmmended that such snacks be healthy nes. Yur child may enjy having his r her wn supply f water r Gatrade (r similar) in additin t the drinks prvided by the camp. Insurance and General Liability Infrmatin By signing the 2010 Camp Green Lane Registratin Frm and/r the 2010 Camp Saginaw Registratin Frm and allwing yur child t attend the Regin #8 Yuth Black Belt Camp, yu hereby agree t the fllwing: GENERL RELESE: I hereby agree fr myself and/r my child (r children, as the case may be) and ur respective heirs, assigns and legal representatives, t indemnify, defend and hld the (i) Wrld Tang S D ssciatin (WTSD) and its fficers, directrs, bard members, emplyees, vlunteers, agents, independent cntractrs, instructrs, cunselrs, participating studis, reginal directr(s), (ii) ther participants and (iii) Camp Green Lane and/r Camp Saginaw (cllectively, the Staff) harmless frm any and all claims and causes f actin f any nature fr any and all persnal injury r illness, including, but nt limited t death, which may ccur t me and/r my child r which may be aggravated during r by any activity during the curse f the prgram in which I have decided t allw myself and/r my child t engage. I further waive any and all claims r causes f actin, which I and/r my child may nw r hereafter have against the Staff which may at any time arise directly r indirectly related t my and/r my child s participatin in the prgram. I further expressly understand and agree the freging indemnity, release and waiver is intended t be as brad and inclusive as permitted by the Laws f the Cmmnwealth f Pennsylvania and that if any prtin theref is held invalid, illegal r unenfrceable, it is agreed that the balance shall, ntwithstanding, cntinue in full frce and effect. SSUMPTION OF RISK: I, individually and/r n behalf f any minr child, expressly and specifically assume any and all risk f injury, illness, death r prperty damage resulting frm my Tang S D (TSD) activities. Further, I, individually and n behalf f my minr child, understand that TSD activities are strenuus and dangerus and shuld be engaged in nly by persns in gd health. I understand that I shuld cnsult a physician befre enrlling myself and/r my child in the TSD prgram. I understand the risks invlved and accept all f the risks. MEDICL RELESE: I, individually and/r n behalf f any minr child, further hereby release the Staff frm any claim whatsever which may arise as a result f any first aid, treatment r services r assistance prvided t me in cnnectin with any injury that arises frm activities at Camp Green Lane r Camp Saginaw. I take full respnsibility fr my and my child(s) welfare and safety during TSD r TSD related activities. I hereby give permissin fr emergency medical treatment t be administered as deemed apprpriate. INSURNCE: I understand that I am expected t have my wn health insurance t cver me and my child. I understand that the WTSD des nt carry insurance t cver injuries and lsses that may befall me and/r my child. I understand and agree that shuld medical attentin be required, I and/r my insurance prvider shall be respnsible fr all csts assciated with such medical attentin. -6-
