GATEWAY REGIONAL RETREADS RECAP Arkansas - Kansas - Louisiana - Mississippi - Missouri - Oklahoma www.gatewayregionalretreads.com Sep-Oct 2018 It s time to renew your memberships. The Membership Application Form is on Page 15. Be sure to complete all information including Email Address so we can update our records. Directors Notes Well here we are at the last three day holiday weekend, kids are back in school and school buses are on the road again. Be sure when you're out riding to watch out for kids along side county roads and for STOPPED school buses loading and unloading children. We still have two rallies left in the Gateway Region area to close out this rally season, Dutch treat in Russellville Arkansas and Lake Charles Louisiana, which will be the last rally for this year. If you can please try to come out and support the folks who put in so much time setting up the rallies for everyone. Check the Gateway regional web site for rally information and registration forms, you will also find them in the back of this news letter. Lake Charles area folks have set up a ride from the Russellville rally with a stopover in Natchitoches Louisiana. In their flyer they have a list of motels and RV parks you can contact. Then they plan on going on to Lake Charles for their rally. Take a look, this could be fun. This ride will give you a chance to meet other folks from the Gateway Region, see new places and eat some great food (start your diet now), so you can enjoy all the great food Louisiana has to offer. A few words on safety while riding, over half of all fatal motorcycle crashes involve another vehicle. Most of the time, the car or truck driver, not motorcyclist, is at fault. There are a lot more cars and trucks than motorcycles on the road, and some drivers don't recognize a Continued Page 2 Gateway Regional Directors Omar & Dorothy Crafton 36 Waterfront Circle Lakeview, AR 72652 Phone: 870-620-0025 Email: gwregion2@suddenlink.net Newsletter Editor Dorothy Crafton Phone: 870-620-0025 Cell: 870-421-2639 Email: gwregion2@suddenlink.net RETREADS Motorcycle Club, International, Inc. North Arkansas Retreads August 23, 2018 Mountain Home, AR Hello Retreads, Most of our summer is over and we re busy making reservations and plans to ride to Russellville and then on to Natchitoches and Sulphur for the Fall Rallies. If all goes according to plan, our Club will have at least 28 people riding to the Dutch Treat Rally, and a significant number are going on to the Southwest Louisiana Rally. Lots of fun to be had by all. As we speak, eleven people from our group are on a three-day spur-of-the-moment trip to Northwest Arkansas. They left Tuesday morning and rode to Eureka Springs to tour Pea Ridge Battlefield. From there they rode to Bentonville, stayed overnight, and visited Crystal Bridge museum Wednesday morning. Wednesday afternoon the group started toward Russellville and planned to ride back roads in the mountains and stay the night somewhere in the area. I m sure you can find plenty of pictures on the Retread website gatewayregionalretreads.com because Snappy, our inhouse photographer is on the trip. Our Summer Picnic at the Quarry Park Pavilion on Lake Norfork July 21st turned out very well. We had 42 members present. The weather was warm, but there were three pedestal fans running and there is usually a breeze off the lake. It was comfortable. The food was fantastic as always. The guys grilled Brats and we had one leftover Pork Butt roast and some baked beans from the Spring Fling that we froze and saved for the picnic. Everyone brought a dish to pass. Garry Kingsland brings us pre-recorded music that plays in the background. Great time! Friendship Rides continue to go well. Steve Wagner has been planning the routes and leading the group each week that weather permits. When Steve isn t available, either Wayne or Ed Dillivan takes over. Ron Tabor is still recuperating from illness, as is Omar Crafton. I should have more events to tell you about in the October newsletter. Keep the shiny side up, Anne & Wayne Jolibois North Arkansas State Reps Mountain Home, AR 72653 (870) 491-5743 Page 4
