DAY 1 IBERA Activities - Welcome reception, photography class Hotel - Hotel Puerto Valle Location: Ibera Duration: 4 Nights www.puertovalle.com.ar/en Meals - L, D DAY 2 IBERA Activities - Sunrise, sunset and night photography class Hotel - See Day 1, We arrive at Posadas Airport in the Corrientes Province and are escorted in our private van to Estancia Puerto Valle where we spend three days immersed in the total peace and serenity of nature. After a stroll around the Estacia s grounds, we have our first photography class where we learn how to best capture wildlife photographically. After a well-deserved rest and refresh, we have a welcome feast of local specialties. Puerto Valle Hotel offers its guests exclusive access to the rich biodiversity of the largest conservation area in Argentina. The heart of the hotel a singular and graceful mixture of refinement, history, nature and the local people is a traditional manor of The Corrientes region built in 1868, with stately and comfortable rooms. A magnificent park of more than 14 hectares and meticulously designed by the prestigious landscaping of Carlos Thays, Puerto Valle invites guests to relax and enjoy nature. We rise early to enjoy a sunrise photography class and capture the breathtaking reds, yellows and golds that reflect on the serene waters of Ibera. After breakfast we navigate the Parana River where we enjoy the abundant birds and creatures that live so peacefully here. After a picnic lunch we return to the Estancia to enjoy and review photos taken during the day. The golden hour of sunset offers another opportunity to study and capture the subtle and precious light. We share our adventures over a delicious dinner (with vegetables and herbs from the Estancia s organic garden) followed by a special evening under the stars to practice night photography. DAY 3 IBERA Activities - Sunrise and technical photography class Hotel - See Day 1 The beauty of a photography tour is that one day feels like so many! Predawn, full daylight, sunset and the night sky each offer rich experiences that we capture with all our senses through the lens of the camera. Today, we rise with the sun to capture the subtle light from yet a different angle. With each passing day, we slow down and enter the spirit of this magical place and all of its nuances. We share our experiences over a delicious breakfast and then head to the Estero wetlands on our 4-wheel drive. Here we enjoy a picnic of local specialties and then head back to the Estancia. Before dinner be sure to stroll the vast and delightful grounds of the Estancia where several native and exotic species live or just relax by the pool. Before dinner, we relive the memories that we captured and receive valuable one-on-one technical and artistic feedback from Ossian. DAY 4 IBERA, RESERVA CAMBYRETA Activities - Wildlife photography class Hotel - See Day 1 After an early breakfast we head to Reserva Cambyreta in Esteros. Cambyreta is a Nature Reserve created by The Conservation Land Trust, started by the late Douglas Tompkins and his wife Kris. We are so very proud to participate in and support their remarkable initiatives that are making a difference all over South America. The area is rich in wetland wildlife and at any moment you may see marsh deer, three species of caiman, the howler monkey, the Jabiru, the amazing pink roseatte spoonbill and abundant waterfowl. Interestingly this reserve is the also the chosen site for the reintroduction of the scarlet macaw, a species that is extinct in Argentina. We will learn about the various conservation projects here before we head back to the Estancia to enjoy the wildlife photos we have taken today. Tonight is our final dinner at Estancia. DAY 5 IGUAZU FALLS Activities - Transfer to Iguazu Falls Hotel - Hotel Sheraton Location: Iguazu Duration: 3 Nights www.sheratoniguazu.com/ After an early breakfast we begin our five-hour journey crossing the beautiful Misiones Province to Iguazu falls. Our home for three nights is the Sheraton that is the only hotel inside the National Park. After an early dinner we head to bed to rest and to dream of our three fantastic days in the falls! Get your cameras and senses ready to photograph the falls from every angle and every time of day, including by moonlight! Without a doubt, the 4-star Sheraton Iguazu, located in the Parque Nacional, has the best location and views of all the lodges and hotels in the area with views over the falls themselves so when the park opens, it is possible to wander out to the falls before the main crowds arrive it s like having the falls to yourself. DAY 6 IGUAZU FALLS Activities - Waterfall photography Hotel - See Day 5 Declared one of the seven natural wonders of the world, Iguazu has a remarkable 1.7 miles of waterfalls in the middle of the dense jungle forest of the National Park Iguazu and the greatest annual flow of any waterfall in the world! That pulsing flow pulses and the changing nature each of the individual falls creates an ever-changing set of incredible photographic opportunities. We rise early to enjoy the misty falls before sunrise. Iguazu offers a remarkable array of compositional opportunities from sweeping panoramas to stunning rainbows to individual droplets and the ever present and distinctly misty waterfall light. Iguazu is an outstanding photographic playground, the perfect place to explore and hone your photographic skills with your expert guide, Ossian. After a full day, we return to our hotel and enjoy our growing portfolio of nature photography. A delicious dinner and after dessert, we ll take a stroll and capture the light of the moon. We learn the art of hummingbird photography from Ossian, the hummingbird master himself. MEET YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDE Ossian Lindholm is a renowned nature photographer from Tucuman, Argentina. Trained as an Agronomist, many years ago he turned his deep passion for nature to photography. In his work as a photographer, teacher and documentary filmmaker, he is dedicated to capturing, preserving, conserving, sharing and sustaining the landscape, nature and culture of Argentina in its most pristine state. Ossian has published five books, 14 calendars and he teaches photography courses throughout the year. Since 1998 he has been leading groups of photographers and naturalists on photographic journeys throughout his native Argentina. For the past four years has been the host of a very popular weekly nature TV documentary called Travesia Fotograficas. In each show He hopes to educate and inspire people to love, protect and keep sacred the places where they live using use images, words and music to touch peoples emotional core. Born in Tucuman in northern Argentina, he was raised in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina and attended primary and secondary school there. His father, now deceased, was a construction engineer and his mother is a writer and historian. Both his father and mother were also passionate amateur photographers and travelers. His parents traveled with him throughout Argentina and they were the ones who instilled a love of exploration. As a young 7-year old boy he fell in love the wonderful landscapes of Argentina and began carrying a camera everywhere, which at the time, was not the not normal behavior of a young boy. As a teenager, he turned his photography hobby into a passion. At the age of 14 years he created a black and white photo lab in his home and with a group of friends, some experienced photographers he began his first serious steps in photography. To finance this hobby, he began taking pictures at family parties and weddings. During his early years he loved reading National Geographic Magazine; it had a profound impact on him. It was his first inspiration and he became continually was drawn by nature photography. He went to college to pursue a career in agricultural engineering and here he began to develop a strong connection with the biological sciences that continues to be a strong influence in all his work. After obtaining his degree he worked for many years as a scientist but in 1998 he decided to dedicate himself to nature photography. At this time he began working as a photography and nature guide which allowed him to travel around Argentina and connect with other photographers and biologists in the world. In 2001 he published his first photography calendar that he does every year. His simple desire has been to share his love and concern for nature. As he evolved as a photographer he clarified his mission in one sentence: Para Conservar, primero hay que Conocer. To conserve, first you must know. At that point he had a personal revelation: He discovered that my life s work was not only photography, it was to carefully craft and deliver an important message about conservation and sustainability: He discovered his calling. He needed, through photography, teaching and film making, to show and teach his fellow Argentinians and the world that Nature is sacred and our relationship to Mother Earth is a symbiotic one. This maxim and personal philosophy threads through all his work. Travel Vision 1-800-866-7314 info@ciclismoclassico.com www.ciclismoclassico.com 6
