Choosing Activities Think about what you already do or would like to start. Choose things from the list or check with us first. You need to spend at least 1 hour per week for 13 weeks (3 month section) or 26 weeks (6 month section).

Collecting evidence For each section you need to collect some simple evidence of what you have done and upload it onto your edofe account using the website. We would like to see: A list of dates with a brief description of what you did At least 1 photo (max 5) showing you in action

Being Assessed You also need to find an assessor for each section this is someone who has some knowledge of what you are doing and can say that you have made progress. You will ask them to agree your goals at the start and write a brief report on the form in your welcome pack at the end of the time period They may or may not be a person you see every week as you carry out the activity. They cannot be your parent, sibling or grandparent.

Expedition Going on an expedition gives you the chance to have an adventure, work as a team, and act on your own initiative. You will learn: To read a map To use a compass Camp craft First Aid 2 Weekends away both involving 2 full days walking, carrying your kit and working as a team

What happens on the expedition? (1) Our Bronze expeditions are run by Chase Training Solutions (CTS). They plan the activity and provide very well qualified and experienced leaders and assessors. Groups of 4-7 young people follow a route through the countryside which they have planned. They need to work as a team. They are met by CTS leaders along the way When they reach the campsite, they put up the tents they have carried and cook a meal using a trangia stove.

What happens on the expedition? (2) School staff also stay on the campsite to be a familiar presence On day 2, groups cook breakfast, pack up their tents and set off again by 9am Students are not allowed to use mobile phones For their qualifying expedition they also undertake a simple study and give a presentation. Parents will be asked to take to the start point for about 9am on Saturday and collect from the end point about 3.30 pm on Sunday

What to take on expedition? You will be given a full kit list nearer the time. Kit includes Suitable clothing, boots and waterproofs Sleeping bag and mat Safety items first aid kit, whistle, survival bag, torch Food and utensils A rucksack 60-75 litre with hip belt Maps, a cooking stove, fuel and a tent which will be loaned from CTS or school

The Small Print The initial payment is to register on the scheme, pay for the school s license to run DofE, admin and materials for training sessions. It is not refundable. We require all participants to show good progress with their sections before they go on the expeditions; most will have all 3 signed off by Easter. Participants need to attend all sessions and meetings; it is up to them to listen to notices and remember. We will not take students on expedition who have a record of poor behaviour in school or on trips.

Bronze Award Want to go ahead? Forms may be given in this evening or taken to Bader office by Friday morning. Please make payments using parent pay
