Rancho Bernardo Newcomers Social Club Newsletter December 2017 For anyone who has lost their copy of the newsletter, you may always go to the Website and obtain the same information (www.rbnewcomersclub.org/). REMINDER It is time to renew your membership for next year, 2018. The deadline for inclusion in the 2018 Directory is 12/31/2017. The membership application for new and renewing members is on page 6. New applications received after November 1, 2017 will cover both the remaining months of 2017 and the full 2018 year. Election of Board Officers This is the time of year when we nominate and elect the Rancho Bernardo Newcomers Social Club Officers for the coming year. Club membership currently includes 175 households in Rancho Bernardo and the surrounding areas. Election of Officers will be held at the Annual Winter Champagne Brunch in January. Board Meetings are held on the morning of the second Saturday of the month. We currently have one vacancy and need a volunteer for that position, a President-Elect. The 2018 President-Elect will coordinate the special events we will sponsor in 2018; the Holiday Dinner/Dance, the twice-yearly Sunday Brunches, the bi-monthly Wine & Dines, etc. This Officer will become President in 2019. Roger McCormack, Tim DeMarco, Maurice Nahum, Doug Troxler, Rose Marie Dishman and many others have done great jobs in this position. It is important, but not that difficult. They have always been assisted and supported by other Club Officers. Feel free to contact any of them for additional information about this position. Currently, the Officer Candidate slate for 2018 is: President President-elect Secretary Treasurer VP Databases VP Membership VP Publications Roger McCormack Vacant Maryalice Taflan Craig Jennings Chuck Schmitt Barbara Shaw Chuck Schmitt In addition to the Board members listed above, Alethea Altenbern, Val Collins, Barbara Shaw and Steve White will continue to volunteer in various positions. Some of the current Officers have served up to 6 years, contributing a few hours of their time every month to keep our Club operating. Isn t it time you considered contributing some of your time to this effort? The Club cannot continue to operate if its existence depends on a shrinking number of volunteer members.

Please consider volunteering to fill this position. Thank you. The Board of the Rancho Bernardo Newcomers Social Club Upcoming Special Events Holiday Gala Dinner/Dance Sunday, December 3, 2017 Save the date for our annual Holiday Gala Dinner/Dance. The dinner includes a seasonal greens salad with spiced pecans, sun dried cranberries, feta cheese and a honey balsamic dressing. The entre selection includes (a) Macadamia crusted chicken breast with garlic potato puree, preserved lemon butter sauce, stir fried haricot verts, (b) Bourbon flat iron steak aioli, roasted tomato, peppercorn jus, (c) Cedar Planked Salmon, asparagus noodles, dill shallot.
