Matthew s Staff Profile Sunscreen & Hats at Funhouse Funhouse follows the guidance of the Cancer Council NSW of when it is necessary to apply sunscreen. The Cancer Council recommends when the UV Index is above 3, a minimum 30+ sunscreen is to be applied every 2 hours. During Term 4, the children will need to apply sunscreen at Before & After School Care. We ask that parents remind their child to apply sunscreen when they arrive in the morning. Staff will assist children to apply sunscreen when necessary throughout After School Care. Was Funhouse your first job? My very first job was doing local newspaper deliveries, then I started working at the library as a shelver and am now working as a library assistant when I'm not at Funhouse or university. Are you studying? I'm currently studying Social Work at UNSW. What did you want to be when you were a kid? I used to want to be knight but after watching Jurassic Park, a palaeontologist seemed more realistic. Funhouse provides Coles Everyday SPF 50+ Sunscreen Lotion for the children & staff of the Centre. If your child has an allergy to this particular brand, please supply an alternative with their name clearly labelled. This sunscreen will be stored at the Centre. If your child has an allergy and cannot wear sunscreen, please let staff know. When the UV Index drops below 3 in the afternoon, children will no longer be required to wear hats outside. This is in accordance with the Cancer Council s recommendations. Staff will let children know when this occurs.
Funhouse Spring Vacation Care Snapshots Check out the amazing time we had at Funhouse during the Spring Vacation Care. If you would like to see what we are getting up to next term, check out our weekly program on the Program noticeboard. Don t forget to let us know if you have any activity ideas (excursions, incursion, inhouse activities and more), we would absolutely love to hear them! At our First Aid incursion we learnt to stay cool, calm & collected during an emergency. We practiced how to put our friends in the recovery position & call 000.
During the holidays, we saw some mind blowing things at the Australian Museum & the Powerhouse Museum. We loved getting up close to skeletons, dinosaur bones & all the hand-on exhibits at both venues. We also get active & worked on our hand eye coordination skills with friends at Putt Putt, & enjoyed some funny films at the Cinema.
