July - November 2016 Volume 4, Issue 3 DIRECTOR S Corner First off, welcome new members if this is your first PS HOG newsletter! Well, we have started the riding season here and it looks like plenty of fun ahead. We kicked the shifters into gear with our first ride up to Calico Ghost town followed by Mt. Palomar and Toms Farms. Just ahead is a Temecula ride so stayed tuned to the calendar. Hey, the big event is our Year End party at the Woodhaven Country Club, be sure and not miss this great chance to meet other members and have a meal with friends. New PS HOG merchandise will be available so get there and get yours and meet your new officers for 2017. Looking into next year, the road captains are getting together in January to plan out the riding season for the year and we will be adding some new road captains to the team. We have several additional officer positions available, photographer, activities officer and historian. If any of these positions sound like something you would be interested in please contact me. I would love to welcome anyone ready to help out this great riding group we have. Thank you all for you friendships and support. I look forward to riding and sharing a meal with all of you this coming riding season. See you on the next one! Michael 1
Debi Cecconi Member Spotlight Owen Krings Debi recently moved from the Orange County area of California to Palm Desert, California. As a result, she had to say goodbye to all her friends at Irvine H.O.G. and Anaheim/Fullerton H.O.G. where she was a member and she now says hello to all her new friends here at Palm Springs H.O.G. Debi joined us in August of 2016. Debi is married and has 3 boys and 1 grandchild and spends her days as a loan officer. When not working, Debi likes to spend time painting, swimming and riding her brand new 2016 gold Street Glide. But this isn't her first bike. Debi is a veteran rider and began riding at 15 ½ years old. Her first ride was a moped. After that she went through many different bikes but her first Harley was in 2003. Since then she's ridden a Softtail, Fatboy, Road King, Ultra Classic and now her Street Glide. Debi loves to ride along the Ocean and says her favorite ride is along PCH. She usually does a 2 to 3 weekend rides a year with her friends from Orange County and they'll usually ride along the ocean and go to Pismo Beach, which is one of their favorite places to ride. Debi loves to ride and usually tries to get out on the road a few times a month. Next time you see Debi, make sure you give her a big PS HOG welcome and make her feel at home! 2
Calico Ghost Town Ride OCTOBER 8 This was the first ride of our riding season for the PS HOGs, our ride started from the dealership with 21 riders and bikes, great riding weather up Hwy 62 and out to Old Woman Springs Road heading into the great wide open. With our first stop for a quick stretch at the Cafe 247, the owner took a group picture of us and said he would put it up in the café. So next time you travel by, stop and check it out. Our road captain Gary Knick got us up to the ghost town and we all set out to seek our adventures. After a nice lunch we all mounted up for the trip back to our own towns without any ghosts hopefully. Thanks to all the riders and road captains for their safe riding and friendship throughout the day. See y all on the next one. Thanks road captain Gary! 3
Sequoia/Kings Canyon Ride Oct 28-30 We started this ride up to central California with 18 riders and the weather allowing us to have some fun riding. A short stretch break at the park and some awesome empanadas from Angie Villarreal (man, those were good) thanks Angie! Our lunch stop at the Red House BBQ was a tummy filling experience with a great staff to help us complete our hunger mission. The Best Western in Tulare was our home for the weekend and we had a relaxing night visiting that evening in the hotel lounge. Saturday morning was beautiful as we headed in to ride through the giant redwoods of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Stopping at the Giant Forest Museum in the park we all got up close to the giant trees and took pictures and walked the area. The smell of the redwoods after the rain the day before made you aware you were in the redwood forest. After a long day of riding in the park our lunch at the Mountain House Saloon was nice with outdoor patio seats all set up for our arrival as we sat and rested and filled our tanks to a restful breeze that afternoon. We got back into Tulare that afternoon for a nice rest before dinner. The Black Bear Dinner was our place for fun Saturday night as we all recalled our riding day in the park. Lots of pie and ice cream on the table and lots of smiles to finish off our last night out. Sunday mornings ride home started out with rain as we headed out and back down the state to our neck of the woods. We made it to Barstow for a lunch that made everyone's rest of the ride home warm and quick. So glad the weather let us ride up and enjoy Saturday's ride in warm sunshine. And a big Thanks to all the riders for a fun safe trip! Special thanks to Janie and Doc for helping put this ride together on such short notice. 4

Mount Palomar Ride Nov 5 The Mt. Palomar Ride started out with 22 riders from Starbucks heading up Hwy 74 into the highlands and cooler weather. We made a stop at the Cahuilla Casino on Hwy 371 to pick up some riders and then off to the Mountain. The weather was nice as we rode through the Anza valley and up the mountain with lots of winding and first gear turns that seem to go on and on. Our stop at the observatory was a walk up to the telescope and museum and a group picture for the books. We saddled up and headed down to the Pala Casino where we met up with four other riders and shared some grub together. Our trip back had us at Dairy Queen for a cone or two to end with a great turnout, awesome weather and lots of friends and fun. Great job road captain Owen Krings. 6
