HOT AIR 16 August 2018 Membership Month Kym s CatchUp I m so proud to be a Rotarian. As you know, Australia is in crisis due to record breaking heat and lack of rain. The National Farmers Federation chose Rotary to help with their disaster response, and has partnered with us (through RAWCs) and Channel 9 to raise much needed funding, and to get help to where it is needed. The TODAY show is broadcasting a FARM AID TELETHON, on Monday, Aug 20. The goal is to raise as much money as possible to assist farmers, their families and their communities. So far more the $3million has been donated - great to see Rotary being the inspiration! If you d like to donate via RAWCs the link is: https://donations.rawcs.com.au/17-2018-19 Closer to home, we are also supporting One Day to Conquer Cancer on Sunday. It s a great cause that is close to many of our hearts if you would like to donate to the Rotary High Rise team, please go to http://theoneday.org.au and search for Russell, John or Lindsay. Or contact Brad if you would like to volunteer for a fun day of cheering on participants. DIRECTIONS FOR THIS WEEK S MEETING AT ALBERT PARK SCHOOL This week s meeting is off site at Albert Park School. This is a great opportunity to directly see the impact our Club is having in our local community. There is parking on site, via Clifton Street as seen in the map below. If arriving by public transport the address is 1 Hale Street, Brisbane. The meeting will start at 7.15, and we are presenting a cheque (thanks Yvonne) and a basket of toiletries and baby goods to Simon, the principal. Often students are involved in preparing the breakfast, so please make a big effort to attend this off site meeting. It really has a big impact on the morale of the school to know that community and business leaders care and are taking an interest in the students.
