We should have the area secured and our team in place within the hour. EXT. RANGER STATION - DAY The guys pull up to the park ranger station. (40) a rugged Latino looking man in uniform greets them. CORTEZ Hey guys. Going camping are you? Looks like crazy weather so be safe now. Be careful of those lights. Flickering lights begin to spin and swirl as the wind begins to pick up. SAMUEL Yeah, pretty weird. We will be fine. We come here every year. Thanks buddy. Samuel pays and proceeds on. The phone rings in the ranger station. CORTEZ ( into phone) This is the ranger, how can I help you? ( beat) Yes sir ( ḃeat ) I will close it down right now. ( beat) We only have a few campers that I just let through. CUT TO: INT. GOVERNMENT SECRET BASE - DAY General Hawks on the phone.
18. She is freaking as the lights surround the campsite with a high pitch noise and furious wind. They all remain frozen as the wind cracks and a ghostly sound begins to increase. Everybody ducks for cover but Simon remains. SAMUEL ( yelling) Stay cool everyone. Don't move. Don't worry babe. It'll be fine. AMANDA What the hell is going on? Simon braves the elements and continues to film. The lights move around the trees and disappear. SIMON All right cupcakes. Simon says, shows over for now. TYLER ( whisper) I feel like I'm already tripping. I mean think about it? It's like a free buzz. The relieved bunch start laughing. RHONDA Let's get base camp set up before dark. Great idea. AMANDA Everyone pitches in to set up camp. EXT. CAMPGROUND TRAIL - DAY Ranger tracking out on ATV to find the campers. He comes to a glowing tree and stops. Holy crap. CORTEZ Ranger dismounts from the ATV and gingerly touches the tree. His body starts to glow and vibrate.
19. He quickly pulls his hand away. CORTEZ (cont'd) Oh man! This is some real alien shit. What the heck is going on? He continues up the trail on the ATV. EXT. RANGER STATION - DAY Government team pulls up to the unmanned entrance gate. Lights begin flashing all around them. They are caught off guard when dragon shaped balls of light appears and are followed by lightning cracks. Agent Watts scrambles inside to make a call and grab campsite maps. ( into phone) Sir. We've arrived and have begun to secure site. INT. GOVERNMENT SECRET BASE - DAY ( into phone) Good job agent, I'm headed in. No one in or out. And make sure to find Mr. Ranger and the campers. over phone, ( filtered) Copy that sir. Also we've encountered some strange lights flying around. ( into phone) Can you identify the source? What do you think it is? over phone, ( filtered) They appear to be a living form. Almost like glowing clouds shaped like nothing I've ever seen before.
24. He drives to an abandoned site and cuts the motor. He see's what appears to be a dragon shaped light spinning and floating above. He is in disbelief and denial. The Ranger jumps back on ATV in a panic and starts to pull away. mumbling to ( himself) Holy shit. What the fuck is going on? What ever happened to a few hungry bears stealing picnic baskets? I mean, I'm losing my mind here. Flickering lights follow the Ranger as he peels out towards the next camp site. EXT. LOS ANGELES STREETS - DAY Under the flickering skies, a news van and crew scrambles to set up camera coverage. CAMERA MAN What in God's name is happening? This is by far the creepiest thing ever. The crew and Marlo prepare to go live. MARLO Alright sissies, Man up! We're going live in 3, 2, 1. CUT TO: INT. MANAGERS OFFICE - DAY Timothy is freaking out as he's watching the breaking news on his television. MARLO over television, ( filtered) An unknown source creating electrical phenomenons is being tracked and aligning in the Mountain Pine area. (MORE)
28. They freeze while everything starts to glow including their guitars. They start tripping out and come together in a circle. RHONDA ( timidly) Dude, I think I'm tripping hard. Am I glowing? SIMON Yeah, what about me? TYLER Yeah, you are too. Was my guitar glowing or what? Awesome right? SIMON We are flying high and yes my friends, every freaking thing is glowing. So Simon says, let's get the heck out of here and head back before it gets dark. Guys shake it off, pack up and head out. INT. RANGER STATION - DAY Government agents are setting up equipment at the station. Agent Watts looks around station and grabs a walkie talkie and tries to contact ranger. ( into walkie) Ranger Cortez do you copy? I repeat Ranger cortez do you copy? This is special Agent Watts, do you copy? EXT. TRAIL IN WOODS - DAY Cortez riding along hears static and a voice from his walkie. He stops and answers. ( into walkie) Yes, this is the Cortez. I copy. Go!
29. over walkie, ( filtered) This is Agent Watts. We have arrived at your post. Are the campgrounds clear? ( into walkie) Negative. The campers are still on the mountain. I'm still five minutes out. over walkie, ( filtered) Ranger, we're gonna need your position. We have a team securing all areas now. ( into walkie) First of all, you need to tell me what's going on with all these lights? CUT TO: EXT. RANGER STATION - DAY ( into walkie) There is an electrical storm coming through here and we need everyone to be evacuated. You need to get everybody off the mountain. So I repeat, what is your position? CUT TO: EXT. TRAIL IN WOODS - DAY Ranger pauses before responding. Lights begin to gather around him. ( into walkie) Copy that. Will do. Sorry, your cutting out.
30. ( over walkie) I repeat, what is your position? Ranger ignores last command and gets back on ATV and heads further into the woods. Lights glow in front of him as he slows down and drives through. ( mumbling) Stupid men in black trying to tell me what to do. This is my territory. This is my mountain. I'm the boss up here. EXT. CAMPGROUND - DAY Amanda and Samuel are getting hot and heavy inside the tent as flashing balls of light continue to swirl around the tent. They pause for a second and look around. SAMUEL Did you see that? AMANDA Nope. See what? SAMUEL Just more crazy lights. AMANDA Good thing I had my eyes closed. SAMUEL It's all good babe. I won't let nothing get you. We are safe in here. AMANDA It's kind of turning me on. Amanda pushes him down as they continue making out. Outside the tent the wind and lights are flashing around the tent with an intense glow.
41. EXT. WOODS - NIGHT AMANDA (O.C.) ( screaming) Help! Help! The guys make their way toward the scream. TYLER ( screaming) Amanda! Where are you? Are you okay? RHONDA ( yelling) We're coming. The guys keep running faster towards the lights and screams. SIMON ( scared) I know they said bring your own brother. But I didn't sign up for this shit. And since I'm the first known brother to be abducted, we need to figure this shit out. The guys disappear into the woods following the light. EXT. CAMPGROUND - NIGHT We see the ATV arrive at the campsite. The destroyed tent is still glowing. Screaming can be heard from behind the tree line. ( desperate) Is anybody over there? Are you okay? Ranger sees intense lights getting brighter through the trees into the wooded area. The voices continue screaming. He makes his way towards the woods.
42. (cont'd) ( yelling) Just stay where you are. I'm coming to you now. EXT. WOODS - NIGHT The Ranger makes his way through the thick woods. His flashlight illuminates the wind blown leaves. He approaches the glowing lights and intermittent screams. CUT TO: EXT. CAMPGROUND - NIGHT In the Hummer's headlights, we see the abandoned ATV and what seems to be a destroyed campsite. The lights continue to infect the remaining pieces of tent glowing blue and white. As personal exits the vehicle, they are overcome by an ear piercing frequency, dropping them to their knees. Behind the tree line, the glowing lights intensify. ( yelling) Stay down! Don't look into the lights. ( firmly) We have no idea what we're up against. Proceed with caution. Ready? Move out! The team makes a break for the tree line. CUT TO: EXT. WOODS - NIGHT The gang trudges deeper into the woods. There is still no sign of Amanda or Samuel.
43. Rhonda keeps the camera rolling despite the freak light show and eerie sounds. They continue to call out in hopes of a response. They make it to a clearing where they are shocked to find Amanda lying on the ground and Samuel levitating skyward in a glowing light cloud. Paralyzed by the sight, the gang is blindsided by an ear wrenching sound wave from the heavens, dropping them to their knees. Rhonda drops the camera as they are too, captured by this levitating force. We PICK UP the camera still in record mode on the ground. We see Simon, a prisoner to the force call out. SIMON Simon says, this isn't happening! Simon says, go away! The group is now fully levitated surrounded by glowing force fields. The Rangers arrives and rushes to Amanda on the ground. Are you alright? Amanda speechlessly points to the sky. They only stand witness to the absolutely shocking phenomenon. The group slowly elevates higher and higher as lights, wind and sound fiercely increase. Intensity is heightened beyond bearable. Amanda and the Ranger cover their ears in agony. A final crack of the wind and a blinding lighting pulse echos through the woods giving way to complete silence. The group is gone. The Government team reaches the clearing as Amanda and the Ranger begin to bring themselves to their feet. Tiny reminiscent sparks litter the air like fire flies.
44. ( to Ranger) Ranger? The campers? What happened? ( traumatized) I can't say for sure. What do you mean? It was like, they disappeared into thin air. General Hawks points at Amanda. She is too shocked to speak. (cont'd) I found her on the ground. ( to General) Sir! It's on the move. Personnel measure the area with hand held scanners. Comb the perimeter. They can't be far. Yes sir. The scene is now secured, taped off and deemed classified. Personnel snap photo after photo of the abduction site. Minor occurrences of sparks still twinkle above. General Hawks politely interrogates. Is there anything else you guys remember? Amanda's no help. She sits wrapped in a blanket shivering with chattering teeth. I've told you everything. In thin air! huh? (MORE)
45. (cont'd) ( beat) You realize we will need you in our office to be fully debriefed and make a full statement? You got it sir. Anything you need. After all, people are going to want to hear about this. The Government team retreats to their vehicle. Cortez notices a blinking red light out of the corner of his eye. He unearths the video camera still in record mode. He secretly tucks it under his jacket and makes his way out of the woods. EXT. CAMPGROUND SITE ENTRANCE - DAY The news crew has posted up at the entrance of the campground just behind the confides of the military barricade. MARLO ( into mic) We're live reporting from the Mountain Pine area. This is where the apparent electrical light phenomenon was centered around. This is where the strange figures of lightning dragons came down last night. It centered on this campground site. Among the small crowd gathered at the entrance, we see Shirley and the band's manager Timothy. MARLO (cont'd) The area is completely closed off by the Government officials. We have no access at this time, but we understand that there are 4 people missing and unaccounted for. Our reports are based off the camping reservation sheet. We will bring you more information as we continue to receive updates. We can confirm at this time that the missing campers are from the rock band Kampground X.
46. Shirley pleads with security for passage. FADE OUT INT. RANGER STATION (3 DAYS LATER) - DAY We see the glow of the footage from the video camera reflect off of Ranger's face. His eyes stay transfixed on the video. He quickly makes a backup copy of the footage. ( to himself) Holy crap, holy crap! Looks like the world needs to see this. He removes the tape from the camera and drops it in a sealed envelope and addresses it to TMZ Re: Kampgound X. EXT. LIGHT CLOUD - DAY We see the 4 band members locked in a translucent like bubble, glowing in a state of suspension high above the clouds. Arcs of lights are flaring between membranes connecting them to each other. We see a kaleidoscope of colors swirling within the membranes. They begin to morph into different animals and then shift back to their regular state. INT. RHONDA'S HOUSE - DAY A news crew films as Shirley reaches out to the community for help. SHIRLEY Please, I'm begging you to help find the band. They make this trip every year. We are offering a reward, whatever it takes to bring them home.
73. INT. GOVERNMENT SECRET BASE/INTERROGATION ROOM - NIGHT Agent Watts questions Cortez in the room. You're wasting your time. I don't have the tape. I sent it away to a safe place. And if anything happens to me, you'll never find it. General Hawks watches from a two way mirror. Damn it! You better come clean or you'll be sent back to clean up bear shit at that little campground. Bring it on sir, but I can't reveal my sources. Not to mention, I don't like or trust you. I'm gonna ask you one more time. What the hell did you see and where is the master? ( smile) I plead the 5th. Okay tough guy. Have it your way. AGENT 2 enters the room with excitement. AGENT 2 Sir, they just announced the band will be doing a live TV interview tomorrow night. Great! We will be there in full force to pick these bozos up. INT. REHEARSAL AUDITION - DAY Meghan and Tyler enter a rehearsal studio. Three band members are there to greet them. SINGER (22), BASS PLAYER (24), DRUMMER (25) welcome him with open arms.
